***Official*** NFC Div Playoff Game Thread (1 Viewer)

There has been about 5 inches of snow on the ground here where i live, not far from seattle, I think the seahawks will be used to the cold as it has been unusually cold this week

For the record, I'm calling for the upset.

Inclement weather does not help favored teams - it creates more chaos which favors neither team, so it lowers the favorite's alleged advantage.

Even so, I think SA has a good game, Hass has a good game, and Engram and Branch move the ball on the Bears.

The Seattle D is playing better than expected, and they'll come after Rex to force a turnover. A TD by Tatupu or Peterson would not surprise me at all.

Chicago has given up 20+ points in their last 4 games against some weak competition - sure, some games were meaningless (right Rex?), but the D isn't as solid as they were early in the season. Injuries have hurt them more than most think.

Seattle 27-23.

My prediction:

No more than one offensive touchdown each side.

Chicago wins with more field goals and/or DEF/ST scores.

Bears 20 Seahawks 13

The ball needs to stay in Rex and Hestor's hands.

Story line no one is talking about....Engram was drafted by the Bears, and has missed most of the season.

My prediction..

Sea: 27

Chi: 12

 :lmao:
Chi let Engram go, perhaps he wil have a big game? On top of that he has missed 9 games. IF he came up huge, it would be a big story.
I think Engram will have a lot of receptions in this game. Clearing out the middle and letting receivers sit down for 7 yard gains is going to be something Seattle will have to do. 7 yards at a time against the Bears is a nice game and sets up the running game a little better. I think Engram gets around 7 catches hopefully when the Seahawks really need them.

Im ready to run thru a wall right now.....how the hell am I going to make it another day

Starting cornerbacks Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman will be back on the field together for the first time since Dec. 3, while strong safety Todd Johnson returns after missing four of the last five games with a sprained ankle.

This is going to be a huge boost in containing Seattle receivers and TE Stevens. I think Hasselback will see a lot of pressure from the front line mixed in with some corner blitzes. I think Grossman will see the same as the Walruss will put the pass rush on Dislexy Rexy in order to cause turnovers.

I see the game coming down to Hasselback and Grossman. Whoever can eliminate costly turnovers their respective team will be the winner.

Final Score

Bears over Hawks

27-17

Grossman 170 yds 1Td 0 Int

Hasselback 280 yds 1TD 2 Int

The Bears will not be able to generate a pass rush even close to the last time they played without Harris. Mike Brown is a big loss too. Their D is not even top 5 in the league right now. It will be a close game. If it was in Seattle I would say the Hawks definitely win this game. Stevens should have another big day and hopefully Alexander gets ging on the ground. I say the Hawks win 24-20.

Hasselbeck is overrated, IMO. I believe Chicago will really be able to throttle the Seattle O. Not sure how Grossman will play, but the Bears should be able to score enough to win. It could very well be a blowout if Grossman plays well.

OK guys, here's a weather update:

------

Hourly weather report:

Bottom line, low 30s (feeling like the low 20s), winds around 10MPH and a light wintry mix (40% chance of precipitation)

http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/busi...0&begDay=14

------

So basically, it's the kind of weather SEATTLE has been playing in the last month - not the Bears.

I see no advantage for other team - and please stop with this 'Bear weather' nonsense (most of the Bears players went to colleges in Texas, Oklahoma or Florida).

However... The Bears big O-Line may have the advantage over the Seahawks D-Line (the 3rd lightest D-Line in the NFL).

Just run the damned ball Lovie Smith!

I don't think Chicago letting Bobby Engram go a few years back is a real big storyline. Guy isn't exactly Owens or Holt out there.
Yeah. This is a very minor story.
After seeing this, I'm glad Engram isn't a Chicago Bear anymore. The Seahawks can pick the Bears defense apart by throwing quick slant patterns all day long. It won't give their D-Line enough time to get to Hasselbeck, and as long as Engram and Branch can hold on to the hoochie, they'll gain an easy 5-10 yards. Then that'll open up the center of the field for Jerramy Stevens, and loosen up the linebackers for Shaun Alexander to gain some good yardage.

It's going to be so much fun watching the Bears shut everyone up on the next couple weeks. Good luck Hawks and Saints. You're going to need a lot of it. :banned:

Yes Tanner it is a minor story. The major storys is "The nfl has plans for the Saints this season" Starting with Houston passing on Bush. This tells me that the saints will be home next week. Take the money line on the seahawks. pffft, This #### is easier than jeapardy

Hey Doc, when I'm not being a blind homer, I'm the most critical of people for my hometown team. Hunter Hillenmeyer has been getting burned regularly by TEs too... That's another thing to keep your eye on.

Another homer here, and I agree with this analysis. I am hopeful that the wintery mix today may be enough to make Holmgren think that they need to just run the ball with SA all day (which the Seahawks could win doing that too). Since Tommie left the lineup, the Bears have been giving up silly numbers in the passing game to some less than stellar teams. The ends are still getting good pressure, but for whatever reason it has made things tougher on the DB's. Run the ball Seahawks, please.

Woke up to a crispy, chilly (low 40s is chilly in SoCal) beautiful day. Shed the night time Hawks PJs and socks and into the pre-game tshirt. Prepping breakfast for half a dozen and once the cooking's done it's into the jersey. Soon will come the coffee induced BM which I will individually name after Bears defenders. It will be gratifying to flush an Urlacher on game day!

For some reason I am not nervous, maybe when kickoff comes closer. But right now, I just want some football!!!

Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory;

Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T-formation.

Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown.

You're the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, bear down.

The grounds crew is uncovering the field in a way that benefits the home team. You can't blame them, but this is pretty funny. Crews are rolling massive strips of blue tarp onto giant rolls. They are pushing these rolls from the home sideline toward the visiting sideline. When each strip is all the way onto the roll, water floods out onto the Seattle sideline. Mike Holmgren might need a snorkel for this one. Crews are now using squeegee-type devises to push water off the sideline. They could have a monster-truck show down there in the mud.
From Seahawk InsiderCan't blame the Bears for trying to tip the scales as much as possible. Since they don't have the 12th man and Seattle has experience, they certainly won't be nervous. Seahawks will stack the line and the Bears won't be running early. You need to wear down the defense first. A Grossman duck into the arms of Kelly Jennings would be nice early. TIA Rex.

Listening to The Score online right now....they are saying look for a multi-colored turf today because of the problems they have had with the sod or something like that. Didnt catch the full explanation

Weather won't be a factor.

It's in the 30s with no wind.

They replaced the sod between the hashmarks prior to the Packers game.

And several days they replaced the sod outside of the hash marks to the sidelines.

Hence the 'two color' sod.

It should be interesting to see if that sod outside the hashmarks has had enough time to settle in. I say it hasn't.

Bad footing will be to the advantage of the offensive players and punt/kick returners. Also, I read that Seattle has the 3rd lightest D-Line. This isn't going to help them. All the Bears Oline has to do is keep pounding those dudes backwards and run the flippin' ball!!!

The Chicago Bears have declared OG Anthony Oakley, DL Antonio Garay, FB J.D. Runnels, WR Justin Gage, QB Kyle Orton, LB Leon Joe, FS Nick Turnbull, FS Tyler Everett inactive for Week 19.

The Seattle Seahawks have declared WR Ben Obomanu, WR D.J. Hackett, QB David Greene, FB David Kirtman, CB Marcus Trufant, DL Marcus Green, OT Ray Willis, CB Rich Gardner inactive for Week 19.

I'm with ya. Big upset coming. I don't think it will be as close as you do unless the Bears rally for a couple meaningless scores.

Frank Caliendo (who is 8-1 in his playoff predictions) just picked Seattle (and San Diego to win).

In a RELATED side story, Caliendo was raised in Wisconsin and attended college up there.

Shocking pick.....

This is what I HATE about playoff football!! All season is played on good turf, where the TEAMS determine the game, not the field or other conditions. I understand all the "home field" stuff but it just isn't fun to watch. If it were the traditional thing to do they would have the Super Bowl at Soldier Field or Lambeau but they don't because they want the teams to determine the outcome of the game!!

I think the Bears will be ready for the Hawks.

I expect Grossman to have a good game.

SA may break a few runs, but overall I think the Bears D will stall the running game this week too. Enough for the secondary to pick some balls in the wind.

I expect short field to be the story of this game.

Little side note: I heard Urlacher is just getting over a nice case of the flu - if the game was 2 days ago............. ?

Peace

Guy can't win 'em all. Shoot - 2 weeks ago everyone had the Gators losing to.........

Gardner being inactive means the Seahawks have only three active CBs I think (Babineaux, Jennings and Hunter). Do the Bears have a four-wide or even five-wide package? I know everyone says the key is for them to run the ball but I wonder if someone like Mark Bradley or Rashied Davis could make a useful contribution today?

 Was really hoping he would get a chance to shine in the national spotlight. IMO he's the best play maker on this team. When given opportunities he delivers.

Wait, isn't Rex Grossman starting today? Seattle has to start cornerbacks? Are you ####### serious? I have to make a call to Holmgren right away. BRB.

I agree. Hacket not being active is a boost for Chicago - unless Jackson plays.
