***Official*** NFL Draft Thread 2005 (1 Viewer)

I'm gonna have to get on the Packers here. I'm not sure how Packers fans can be excited for 2005.

To recap, they've lost:

G Wahle

G Rivera

FS Sharper

DE Kampman

DB Jue

They've added:

T Klemm

G O'Dweyer

CB Franz (from Washington)

QB Rodgers

CB Nick Collins from Bethune Cookman

WR Terrence Murphy

This is a team with a SB calibre offense last year, that appeared to have gotten a little worse in the off-season. Their defense was horrible, and they've done nothing to improve it. I'm just not sure what the Packers fans have to get excited for, especially when the Vikings added a ton of talent, and the Lions and Bears added some college studs.
They are clearly the biggest wtf candidates so far. Collins was a day 2 guy, and WR is the one position they are solid. Makes no sense whatsoever. I'd put Seattle a close second for the distinction....

It's called the inevitable decline of a franchise. As a die hard Packer fan, you're correct, it's hard to swallow. But the Packers have had the best record in the NFL over the last 10-12 years and to this point have been able to avoid a major dropoff. It was inevitable anyway when Favre retires, and I'm just happy we got Rodgers today so that the time we spend working our way back up is as short as possible.

I like the Frye pick, I watched this kid play, he can stand in and face the pressure. I've also seen him throw the ball 60 yards in the air flat-footed, standing still.

Pffft!! Kyle Boller can do that from his knees! :bag:

I love both of Seattle's picks, but trading up to take Tatupu and giving up 2 fourths is borderline crazy. They must have been convinced that he wasn't going to make it to 54, which I find hard to believe. Dan Cody dropped to 53, for crying out loud. Then again... Seattle has been burned by not going up to get the guy they wanted in the past.

Well then we're in agreement, Packers fans don't have much to get excited for this year. If the Pack are 3-9, they wouldn't call for Favre to be benched to see Rodgers play....would they?

No McPherson yet???

hmmm....
Mooch is salivating right now.....pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepl

Some interesting picks here:Oakland: QB Andrew Walter (similar to Kerry Collins?)Miami: LB Channing Crowder (heir to Zach Thomas?)Tampa: TE Alex Smith (bye bye Dilger?)

What tackles are out there Aaron?I realize if the top tackles drop considerably, none of the ones available now are likely starters. But who could the Jets be targeting in about 20 picks?

Michael Munoz, Ray Willis, and Wesley Britt seem like the best still available.hard to say though at this point as ratings differ a lot between sources.

Hope not.

Puzzling pick by the Eagles, taking basically a Westbrook clone. I thought they'd go with some size at RB if they took one.
Kick returner this year and insurance in case the Eagles can't resign Westbrook next year. Would be my guess.

lots of great value picks in the 3rd round this year.NY Giants - DE Justin TuckOakland - MLB Kirk MorrisonArizona - CB Eric Green

Philly will be very happy when they see this kid run for them.

Kevin Everett to the Bills...I don't know him too well. I heard he's obviously not as good as other Miami TEs (Franks, Shockey, Winslow) but the pedigree is still decent. THe Bills seem to be very interested in getting Losman weapons. I'm neutral on JP, but adding two Hurricanes as targets can't be too bad.:theU:

Everett came into the year with a ton of hype and was very disappointing. He's a good athlete, and the pick fills a definite need. I'm happier with this pick than I was with Parrish.Bills definitely are surrounding Losman with plenty of weapons. Just hope the offensive line and the running game holds up.
