Sad to see them as sellers for a change, but it’s time. Orlov wasn’t going to resign, and as much as I like Hathaway, his cost coming off this year was likely to be too high. Good trade - assuming we can utilize the picks and draft well.

saw a report at hockey rumors that kane to nyr is a done deal, but they need to wait due to sal cap situation; however, the article said a 1 and a top prospect would be included and i find that maybe optimistic. nyr have said they didn’t want to deal their other 1 for a rental. if they do, i doubt a top prospect goes too.

this is being reported as a 2 and 4, the 2 can become a future 1 if nyr make the conference finals (like copp). az taking 25% and nyr giving them a 3. no players.

I never thought the Kings would trade Quick. A very sad day for the franchise but hopefully the return will help their sieve of a defense. I don't much about Gavrikov or Korpisalo but from what I have read Gavrikov should fill a big need defensively. I don't like that he is a UFA but if the Kings can get him signed it will lessen the sting of losing my favorite King of all time.

Somehow, the Penguins rid themselves of another year of Kasperi Kapanen ($3.2M), to maybe bury Brock McGinn ($2.75M) in the AHL, so they could add a bottom-six center, Mikael Granlund, that will count $5M against cap each of next two seasons. No words.

Why not try things like that when the team's not competitive? It's the only hope they have of maintaining fans when the team is that bad.

(great goal - this kid is an amazing talent. It would be interesting to see him on a team that had a chance to see what he can do when the game is on the line)

It was a helluva run and I'll be watching/raising a glass Thursday night as they play the fearsome Blue Jackets.
The streak should not be ending this year. In addition to pooping the bed last night against the Blackhawks (who BB already mentioned were coming off a back-to-back whereas the Penguins were not), they also managed the same feat against San Jose AND Montreal this year. Truly a hat trick a team wants no part of.

Vegas vs Winnipeg and Edmonton vs LA are set. If Colorado gets a point tonight they would get the division and face Seattle, and Dallas would play Minny. If Colorado loses in regulation, they would play Minny, and Dallas would play Seatlle.
