***Official NY METS 2014 Thread*** (3 Viewers)

Older Mets fans now know how Red Sox fans felt in '86. That Murphy play was Buckner-esque.
It was terrible but it still would've been 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. And we had 6 of our own outs after it so the game didn't end on it.

But I understand your point of how friggin bad it was.

1. 1903 Boston Americans (Red Sox), down 1-3, won World Series 5-3 over Pittsburgh (best of nine format).

2. 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates, down 1-3, won World Series 4-3 over Washington.

3. 1958 New York Yankees, down 1-3, won World Series 4-3 over Milwaukee.

4. 1968 Detroit Tigers, down 1-3, won World Series 4-3 over St. Louis.

5. 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates, down 1-3, won World Series 4-3 over Baltimore.

6. 1985 Kansas City Royals, down 1-3, won World Series 4-3 over St. Louis

It's over man. This Royals team is waaaaay too good to blow this.
The odds the Royals blow this are slim but I was more down after Game 2 than I am tonight. I am not sure why there is hesitancy to use Robles in a big spot. He should have had the 7th inning role and Reed the 8th tonight. Enough with Tyler Clippard. He has pitched like crap for two months. I thought Collins said this was a meritocracy.

Familia pitching in a 9-3 game was mindless. If he did not pitch last night, then he could have been brought in to start the 8th just like the Kansas City closer.

Last night was devastating.

I'm sick of using Clippard in big spots. He's been consistently terrible, and using Familia in Game 3 precluded him from pitching last night. The error obviously sucked as well, but leaving Clippard in AFTER he walked Zobrist to face Cain was particularly awful

I also don't like how rigid TC is having to use Reed in the 7th and Clippard in the 8th. Colon pitched to one batter, is a good, reliable vet. I wouldn't have had an issue with him staying in until he gave a reason to remove him.

Having a hard time seeing this Royals team get blanked. Needed more than one there.
Yeah, unless Harvey goes 9 or if someone other than Colon, Gilmartin or Robles comes in to relieve. They will hit Familia again.
