***Official Phish Thread*** (3 Viewers)

The PhishStats dude had a decent look at it from multiple angles. Again, with positive tone overall. Dang show scored 570.4 lol.

i admit i am not a huge fan of what they did in set two in principle. i'd say, however, that at least 5 or 6 of the new songs are good if not great and time will bear that out. i do admire that they would have the guts to do this, and also the musical chops to pull it off. only one song was a real dog (don't know the title but mike just could not sing it). the wombat was fun, fuego is big, a couple other good ones in there.

i think that, expectations being what they are, i would agree that this was a let down. everyone goes in to 10/31 expecting, knowing, that a cover album is going to happen. unless the band suprises us with a 11/1 or 11/2 full album, this will go down as the weakest halloween because of unmet expectations.

Was it good or not?

What do some of the songs compare to? That's not really a fair question perhaps, but I'll ask it.
...The songs were better than Joy and just above Undermind. ...

Could not disagree more. Joy is a fantastic album, no way that Set 2 > Joy. in fact, i feel like the leftover songs from Joy (from the Party Time CD) are more like the new songs from 10/31. a lot from that set will also end up on the cutting room floor, nowhere near the level of Joy.

Got my tickets to the two AL shows requested.
how'd you find out already?
requested...
I read that as "I got the tickets to the 2 shows I requested". Shoulda looked at the avatar and read it with a Mississippi accent, then I would have picked it up

;)
HA

Man I'm excited. I haven't seen Phish since Coventry. This will be right at 10 years. Crazy how time flies.

Planning on doing at least the Oak Mtn>Alpharetta weekend. Might be talked into Friday night's show in AL as well but not crazy about driving that far.

Might do a night at Merriweather if I'm around. I just hate having to drive to a show. That sucks. Haven't seen them since...I think it was the Weir night of the last shows before the hiatus. Still remember Bob being a bit visibly off-put by the energy of the Chalkdust Torture. Not sure he was expecting it.

Wow, they are not playing Camden NJ (basically Philly) for first time in forever. Playing the revamped Mann Music Center instead in Philly's Fairmount Park, where they haven't played since the early/ mid 90's. Love that call. Mann is more intimate, should be less drunk losers and wookies too. Putting in for both nights!

I thought the Mann was an indoor auditorium/opera type venue? Obviously not considering a band as big as Phish is playing it summer tour, but what venue in Philly am I confusing it with then?

Kimmel Center?

The Mann was the premier indoor/outdoor venue in Philly until the Camden Center took over by being bigger/better while the Mann floundered and became shabby/neglected. The Mann has had a renaissance and I've seen several shows there recently and it rules again! Totally pumped. Camden is kind of a shyte scene, although the venue itself is fine.

Was back east for the holidays in 94 and saw the Civic Center show. Good show. I know I was higher than giraffe's balls by the time the show was over and the scene outside was a bit of a #### show/nitrous mafia ordeal. First and only time I ever had a hot dog with vitamin a.

Is the Mann sort of like Camden where they play winter shows in a closed off pavilion then or something? I wouldnt of known that had I not seen a NYE show at Camden that they do that there even, but I swear awhile ago Ben Harper was playing at the Mann and it appeared to be a smaller, seated, indoor venue. The indoor part Im recalling may just be because of the time of year it was.

I know there's a place in Pittsburgh, next to the Heinz field that is both indoor and outdoor. Are you sure you're not thinking of that?

There's also Penn's Landing, which is like a small little bowl, iirc. I only mentioned Kimmel because you mentioned opera. Kimmel is one of the premier concert halls in the country and by all accounts I've heard has remarkably good acoustics.

Nah, Im from Pittsburgh and what youre referring to is Stage AE, they do close it off for out of season/smaller shows but Im not confusing that with a Philly venue. I would never have guessed Camden (Tweeter Center last I recall of it) closed off the pav for winter shows, but I saw moe. & Maceo Parker there for an NYE show like circa 2006.

Ive seen shows at Penn's Landing and thats definitely an outdoor venue, no conversion from what I can tell. Maybe Im confusing Kimmel and the Mann but I dont know.

Got 4 tickets for the tour opener at Great Woods, GA lawn which sucks but better than getting shut out.
See, I have never actually went thru Phish ticketing, and for this summer tour, I wanted to because I thought you could request what you wanted. Pit, Pav, Lawn.

I dont get the point of going thru Phish ticketing and getting stuck with lawn seats. Youre paying top dollar for the worst seats. I actually didnt know it worked that way. Figured you requested what section you want (assuming pit or pav here), and if you dont get that then you buy tickets thru whatever means.

You really think you wont be able to get lawn seats at Great Woods for less than face?!

Hey guys, I have an extra for Friday, July 18th at Randalls Island....have my brothers suprise birthday party....so pissed off about it. At least I have the Saturday and Sunday shows to look forward too. If anyone is interested in the Friday, I also have a ferry pass. Shoot me a PM and name a fair price is all I ask.

Got our Merriweather tickets today and they look sweet. Anyone know why our lawn tickets would have a row and seat designation on them? I don't recall ever seeing lawn tickets like that before. But, darn it, if some one is in my seat I'll have my ticket stub in my hand....
