the review of 12/29 makes that show sound weak as you described. but i, for one, experienced the 12/28 show and "weak" is definitely not a word i would use to describe it.at any rate, the 12/29 review makes me want to tune in tonight even more, hoping the band has a strong bounce back.
I said all things considered meaning that expectations are obviously very high for a 4-night NYE run. At the end of the day, is anyone going to point to either show as one of their 2012 best?Kudos to the free Stream though, I thought the quality was really good considering the price.

Pretty boring so far tonight.

Runway Jim opener got things started but didn't go anywhere.

Cities- standard cover, nothing special. Kind of sick of it really.

Divided Sky- the best of the night so far but it's just not a song I get excited about

Nothing amazing or real jammy but some decent stuff so far. I love Divided Sky and MFMF...Antelope is always fun but it was nothing special. Never heard them play Ride Cap'n Ride before.

Trey just doesn't seem 100% healthy.

I thought those were fantastic DWD and Carini renditions and deserved better followups. Don't get 20YrsL and Backwards....but I did have to miss most of Backwards to tend to the sick here at home.

not much chatter to wrap up this NYE run. full confession--i did not hear 12/29 which apparently was the dog of the run. but i've got to say that from the 2nd set of 12/30 on through the Ironman encore, i thought the band was raging. NYE was a really fun 3-set affair and very well played imo. i'm also more positive about the 12/28 show than some of the other reviewers, so all in all, i'd chalk this up as a solid run with a few flashes of brilliance. FORE!

Trey on CBS Sunday Morning. nice interview, very short link on phish.net. With the warm temps today, i am suddenly jonesing for the summer tour. where are the rumors?

If I was still a Phish goer, I'd be all about Tahoe and Denver. I'll to Merriweather if somebody gets a comp for me. Love that place.
Agreed. ****'s is quickly becoming the best show of the Summer, and Tahoe is so gorgeous and so much easier to plan than the Gorge. Those of us with young'ns have to just sneak away for a show here and there. :kicksrock:

damn, might be able to catch Phish and PJ on back to back nights in chicago :excited:
how's that venue in Chicago?
My buddy used to be the GM of Northerly Island, so I've seen a bunch of shows thereIt's an entirely outdoor venue...The location is great...It sits on the site of a former small airport, jutting into Lake MIchigan...It is directly East of Soldier FIeld in the heart of Chicago, so it is extremely easy to get to...This also generates some awesome views of Chicago skyline in the background behind the stage, like this: Nightime

It's pretty small, about 7,500 capacity...And it's a totally temporary structure, all the grandstands and the stage are assembled before the concert season and disassembled afterwards...The sound quality can be dicey, as it is outdoors and temporary, and the seats aren't the most comfortable, but who's going to be sitting down anyway?

They have two setups, one with a decent sized GA section in front, and one with seats put down there...not sure which setup they'll use for Phish

on the perimeter of the stage/seating area are your usual food & bev stands, merch stands, etc

They have a VIP area in the far stage right

It can get very buggy there in the summer, so bug spray is a necessary accessory

Lemme know if you have any specific questions

It used to be a small venue. They just added a 15-20,000 person lawn area to it this year. I guess the main area will still be 7,500, but it isn't a cozy little outdoor venue anymore, which is too bad.
