Might as well start it up. The biggest game of the season for both teams thus far. Both 6-3 and tied atop the division. A lot of bad blood between the two teams. Jets finally have the better QB. Patriots still have the better coaching staff.

The Pats rushing stats are heavily slanted when the Dolphins ran all over them. I doubt the Jets will hang nearly 50 on the Pats. This game should be close.Even with the Jets having the statistical edge, NE still beat them in NJ in the first full game without Brady. Yes, the Jets should have won. The Jets also should have beaten Oakland.If they played Oakland again, they'd be likely to beat them. They get to play NE again, and I think they're likely to beat them here.

Disagree- The Pats were fired up for that game after a week of people casting them aside when Brady went down... Randy Moss showed it the most IMO.Pats also played pretty much a perfect, mistake free game with what, 1 penalty and 0 turnovers.... You'll win a lot of games doing that...

Also that game was sealed with the Pats running the ball with Lamont Jordan down the stretch eating up the clock while the Jets Run D was still finding itself.... I don' think anyone runs it down the Jets throats like that anymore.....

I see the Patriots playing a ball control offense for this game and only throwing deep to keep them honest. Cassel and Welker and Faulk are going to have solid games catching the ball on quick slants and screens, that should slow down the pass rush of the Jets. I also see Green Ellis with another solid day this week with 15-20 carries for 80 yards and 1TD.

I predict that the score will be 24-17 Patriots.

I voted Pats in a blowout. I think the Pats are better than most people currently think, and better in reality than they are statistically. The Colts had to play near-perfect ball to eek out a 3 point win 2 weeks ago (meaning no sacks, TOs or penalties - think about how often a team does that, and the Colts ONLY won by 3), and they beat up the Bills last week. I think the Pats, with their years and years of winning experience, are going to surprise again by easily winning on Thursday.

they batted a ball that more often than not gets picked but, of course landed in a Pats arms.... And one Cassel pass was inches from Revis....

while I'll agree that play was of the "lucky bounce" variety, Kevin Faulk made fantastic play to catch that tipped ball, it didn't just "land in the Pats arms".

your comments about the kicking game and SPTeams were very accurate.

To me, there were 3 MVPs for NE:

- Gostowski booming every kickoff and forcing NYJ to go 80yards every time

- K Faulk making timely big plays, many on 3rd down

- L Jordan running like a wrecking ball to churn the clock in the second half.

statistically, the Pats and NYJs were nearly identical.

The difference was field position and one costly turnover by Favre that left NE well into NYJ's side of the 50.

What it came down to in that game was this:

1) Field Position - I said after game one the Pats Completely Dominated the kicking game - after this game the Jets were shopping for a new punter.... Every single Jets drive was from their own 20 yard line or so while the Pats started 5 drives in Jets territory...

2) Penalties / Turnovers - Pats had 2 penalties for 10 yards one of which was when the game was over... Jets had 6 for 60 - One of which was a complete phantom Offensive Pass Interference on Cotchery which backed the Jets up, and eventually led to a Favre INT trying to dig out of that hole...

3) Kevin Faulk / Lamont Jordan - Dump off passes were pretty much all they wrote for NE, then Jordan pushed for som ebig games at the end - Jets can't let that happen again. Jordan was a bull in this game, The Jets D has been stiffer since and I'm not sure the Pats have all those weapons still.

4) Adalius Thomas - Sealed this game with a late sack when Little Leon tried to block him..

every time a radio personality gets all warm and fuzzy about the Jets, the team throws out a stinker...

this is the quintessential Jets heart-breaker game..ya know the type, the fans start to 'believe' in the team, the radio personalities start to dream of big wins and playoff berths and that they can make a legit run at the SB ( thanks Benigno!) , and then it all comes crashing down in one game and we spend the remainder of the season listening to the belly-aching of Jets fans..

I like the Patriots, 24-17. They are playing at home, have already beat the Jets this season, and even though the Jets have a 3 game win streak going I wouldn't call any of their wins impressive (poor KC and St Louis teams, and also Buffalo who has struggled lately). I think the Jets' record is better than what the team actually is. Jets have pretty much played two big games this season: Week 2 v. NE -- they lost, and Week 3 @ SD on MNF and they lost that game too. I don't see them coming through in this big game either.

I picked the Pats in a close game. This game will go a long way to decide the AFC EAST. I really think if the Jets win they will get this division. It would give them the confidence as a team to get the division and show they are a real force in the AFC. If the Pats win they are a solid team in the AFC race that could go further then most think. This game will clear the picture in the AFC East and show what each team is about in the AFC playoff race.

Jets fans are so snakebitten, I think most of us won't 'believe" til we see it... Kinda like Pats fans in 01' - I remember a message board I was on back then with Pats fans who were calling Bellichik an idiot early in that season and wondering if the 3-4 defense would ever work there.

Benigno is GREAT... He's the guy Jets fans turn to when all is a complete loss and he'll be talking about hanging himself and jumping off a bridge and "Let me tell ya, don't raise your kids to be a Jets fan..... don't torture them like that"....lol Greatest line...

While the overal pulse isn't all about confidence for this game, (hard for a Jets fan to ever be overconfident)... Jets fans do know how it goes - IF the Jets win, the media and pundits will go wild and there will be the ultimate build up to the Tennessee game the next week with the Jets having extra rest.... IF the Jets lose, as you say, it's back in the bottle... Jets boards will talk about Firings, Bad Draft picks, washed up players... There's absolutely no middle ground here - On Friday the talk is either Super Bowl or Fire Mangini and Co..... I try to stay a bit more even keeled than that but, even I can see the oppotunity here and hope for the best.

The Jets need to borrow a page from the Colts and incorporate Keller into the game plan. If the Jets play a smart game, he will have a good fantasy start.

More generally, an aggressive passing game plan is what the Jets need here, as NE will be overly pre-occupied with dealing with Jones and Washington.

I'm starting the Jets kicker, as I expect both teams settling for 3 points multiple times tonight...
