I'm voting for the upset. Not that I watch either team closely, but I think the Jets D is a lot better than in the first meeting and will come out of the gate to make a statement. Add that to the Favre's penchant for winning big games, and I think the Jets get a little payback on the Pats with a close win.

Field conditions/weather could play a huge role in tonight's game. The Patriots short passing game shouldn't be affected by the rain at all - I think they'll be able to move the ball and play their typical 2008 clock-killing style.

Low-scoring, close game. I like the Pats 19-16.

You're right, he didn't give them enough credit. I just don't think that you can say with certainty that they beat up bad teams when they got absolutely trounced by the Fins. Like I said, both the Jets and Pats have played inconsistently.

Back when Brady got hurt I suggested that Cassel might post numbers similar to Brady when he took over for Bledsoe in 2001.

Through their first 9 games:

The funny thing is you'd be completely wrong! I am a GIANTS fan and I've always been a Jet hater. I just see 2 teams going in completely opposite directions and the momentum is totally in the Jets favor.Most Jet fans are being cautiously optimistic or are just preparing themselves for the inevitable letdown. I am usually watching and waiting for that moment to bust balls ... but I just don't see that happening.The Jets look like a better team than the Pats right now.Of course the Giants are better than both of them but that's not even an argument.

Brady ended with 2843-18-12 with an 86.5 QB rating.Cassel is on pace for 3200-16-16 with an 83.9 rating.Looks fairly close to me.Troy Brown and Wes Welker are effectively even. Clearly the 01 Pats had no one comparible to Randy Moss. The point I had back Week 1 was that the Pats would do FAR WORSE statistically than many were suggesting. (At the time, many were still saying Moss would be Top 3 and Cassel would easily be Top 10 given the Pats strong offense.)Clearly the Pats are emplying a similar game plan with Cassel as they did with Brady in 01. Manage the game, limit turnovers, and try to stay in every game without trying to do too much.

You can give me 300 reasons Favre will turn the ball over and I'll give you 458 and 63,634 reasons I think the Jets will have a better chance with Favre at the helm than the Patriots do with Cassel. The Jets got to Cassel 4 times the first game, he didn't turn it over via a fumble or a pick. If the Jets get to him that many times tonight, he might find it hard to protect the ball. Add to that the Jets are second in the league in sacks while the Patriots are one of the worst in terms of giving them up, I'll take my chances.

OK, so Cassell turns the ball over 0 times the last Jets game suggests that he'll turn the ball over this game becuase he's due? I'm not sure why you said that, actually.and you said the Patriots are one of the worst in terms of giving up sacks, but ultimately Cassell still doesn't turn the ball over as often as the Jets.

I would have to agree that Cassel played about as well as he could have in the second half. In the first half he was jittery, not hitting anyone on the out routes or outside the numbers and constantly looked like he was anticipating getting hit. After half, however, he was hitting his receivers, not looking down at his blockers, and was making the correct read almost every play. Not to mention he put that ball right on money to Moss to send the game into overtime, on 4th and 1, with 1 second left, in a winner-takes-first-place game. Hats off to the kid.

He did play well, and hats off to BB for doing what he's done so far with a kid who hasn't started since HS. If he can get some confidence and accuracy in the deep ball, he'll be dangerous. FA after this season, likely to be wearing a difference uni next year, I suspect.
