Now after weeks of anguishing about how the recounts will go and how the electors will vote what is there left to worry about?

Should we speculate about Trump being indicted or even impeached before he reaches office?

Should we concern ourselves with Trump potentially quitting because he didn't really want to be president anyway?

Shall we nitpick each and everyone of his appointments as being too neocon or GOPE or have too much of the Goldman-Sachs stench about them?

Maybe instead we should just relax and savor the first victory for the little guy in decades.

This is pretty much the opposite of what I would say.  If the EC were to deny Trump the presidency, those guys would be heroes, and it would show once and for all why the EC was a good idea as one, final fail-safe against direct democracy.

On the other hand, if electors are going to just blindly vote for the candidate who won their state, then there's really no good reason for having electors in the first place.  Just award electoral votes directly on election night and dispense with actually having electors or getting the EC together for a formal vote.
Alright, time to pack it in I guess

:deadhorse:

I give.  If you think the mob mentality of some idiots yelling things at a rally is the same as sitting down and writing a letter to an elector that you will kill them if they vote for Trump and I have some role in any of it and have to condemn something, then you are just being obtuse and arguing to argue.  No wonder Dodds shut it down last week.
The Trump-supporter death threats went far beyond some idiots yelling at a rally.  I've heard Megyn Kelly interviewed about her life this past year and she received numerous death threats at her home, including having random people show up at her building looking for her.  Several other journalists received similar treatment.  Their lives were turned upside down.

Well in any case now it's official. I wish Donald Trump well and hope he will turn out to be a good President.
Yeah.  It'd be pretty great to wake up in an alternate reality tomorrow where we just didn't actually elect this corrupt, mentally unstable dude.

Or showing up at pizza restaurants.

Nothing. Nothing at all.

Translated, because no one stateside will report it:

Perpetrators should not be Chechen but Pakistanis

According to unconfirmed information of the "world" the offender is not to be a Chechen. The indications are gathering that the arrested truck driver is Pakistani. Whether the person concerned is the perpetrator is not yet certain. He is said to be police-aware because of minor criminal offenses, but not because of a terrorist background. This is reported by the "Tagesspiegel", referring to security circles. According to the information the detainee is said to have stolen the truck in Poland. He is also to use several alias personalities.

I seriously think some combination of Andrew Johnson & Warren Harding is ahead. Impeachment will be on the table within the first year IMO.

It's hard to compromise when one side refuses any compromise on principle. Obama/Democrats did everything they could to get Republicans on board, and the stimulus and ACA both reflect significant different policy that what Obama was elected on in a more conservative direction.

That doesn't even start to get into the mostly common sense and bi-partisan "grand bargain" on the budget that Obama had essentially in place w/Boehner before Congressional Republicans killed it rather than give Obama even one bipartisan accomplishment.

It would be easier to defend this stuff if Republican leaders weren't on record about their intent. As it is the question is whether or not any bipartisan work can or will happen again on a meaningful scale?
Oh geez.  They locked them out of the discussions of ACA and plopped a 20,000 page document on them and voted on it the next day.  You are out of your freaking mind if you think that is 'everything possible to get them on board'.

Obama was an obnoxious arrogant ### his first few years and is every bit to blame for the eventual gridlock as anyone.  Obama never lead before and was clueless how to work with the other side.  That is why governors usually make better presidents.   Trump is even more arrogant and will make the same mistakes but even more so on a global level.   The GOP will lose the House or Senate in two years and Trump will be gone in 4 years.

The GOP will lose the House or Senate in two years
Seems very unlikely given the majorities Republicans have now.  The Senate is basically impossible to flip in 2018.  Flipping the House would take a huge wave election.  And Democrats have been pretty lousy at getting out the vote in midterm elections recently.

They are motivated and Trump will even fuel it more.  The GOP base on the other hand will be disappointed that Trump flips on some items and their enthusiasm will decrease.

Well, I hope you're right but I'm not too optimistic.  I'm expecting Republicans to add a bunch of new Senate seats.

Am I reading this correctly? Hillary and the lefties threaten electors to change their votes and Hillary loses ground. So funny.  :lmao:

Could not be more socially unaware.

I honestly don't know what will happen in the next four years. I doubt the Democrats will be able to take control of either the Senate or the House, but I didn't think Trump would win either.  I actually hope Trump doesn't get shot or impeached, because I don't like Pence that much at all.

Where is the bit about Pelosi saying "to find out what's in it, you have to vote for it?"

No. (as usual)
Thanks for the concise explanation. I was thinking that two Trump Texas electors voting for Kasich and Paul, with 4 Clinton electors voting for Colin Powell and Faith Eagle Feather in Washington had to be fake news. Not even counting the two Clinton electors who got DQed and replaced in Maine and Minnesota.

But it is from NBC

More Fake news

I find it equally pathetic that moderate to left wing Democrats who have for so long disregarded security and poo-poohed it now are suddenly so concerned about it.
There's an old saying: a conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.

Past is past. Right now McCain and Schumer are standing arm in arm demanding a special bipartisan committee to investigate, McConnell (Mr. GOPe that Trump claimed he was running against) opposed that.

Conservatives can check their membership at the door if they back McConnell.

Donald Trump's sons behind nonprofit selling access to president-elect

A new Texas nonprofit led by Donald Trump’s grown sons is offering access to the freshly-minted president during inauguration weekend — all in exchange for million-dollar donations to unnamed “conservation” charities, according to interviews and documents reviewed by the Center for Public Integrity.
Those are the grown sons who will supposedly be independently running Trump's businesses and are also sitting in on transition meetings.
