Several months ago, I suggested that I thought Sasha Banks was the best female wrestler in WWE in 20 years, I feel I should apologize, because that was inaccurate. What I should have said is that Sasha Banks is the best female wrestler in WWE history. She has upstaged everyone in the company other than maybe(MAYBE) Brock Lesnar over the last 12 months. That match with Becky Lynch was arguably the best match of the year so far, not best women's match, not best NXT match, but best match period.

Those of you who don't watch NXT have no idea what you are missing, its the best wrestling product going, I love Lucha Underground, but that is an inferior wrestling product, though they certainly are #1 for interesting characters. NXT has been superior to Raw for well over a year in every way, better wrestling, better storytelling, better crowds and better commentary. They have the best heel in the company(Owens) the best face in the company(Bayley) the best entrance(Balor) the best authority figure(Regal) and the best commentator(Graves) and I'm leaving out a bunch of other great things and people.

NXT is great, but I can't agree that it's better than WWE. NXT has one hour to fill each week, and it's still jobber matches for half of it. The special events are always great, though.

Going to have to disagree with you here. Lucha Underground has stars; they're stars in Mexico. NXT is a glorified indy to me.

Last night, Vampiro was talking to Johnny Mundo about his rudo turn by throwing Alberto El Patron through Dario Cueto's window. It's framed like a real interview, with Vampiro asking the kind of questions that fans would legitimately ask. Mundo really didn't want to talk about it at first, and then he let it slip that he was jealous of El Patron. Then it came out, and you discover that Mundo feels slighted because he's been busting his hump since Day 1 in LU and then El Patron waltzes in like a Johnny-come-lately and gets all the shine that Mundo feels he deserves. This was far more illuminating and entertaining (as well as feeling somewhat kayfabe) than if Mundo had cut some raving promo against a wall.

The Trios championship match was defended in a ladder match last night. As usual, this program is giving the viewer at least 2 or 3 "HOLY ####!" moments per week. I'm becoming a real fan of the lucha libre style.

Zenk had fire, a good look, a good workrate. If he knew the business half as well as he thought he did, he could have really been a successor to hogan in my opinion. Granted he left in 87 so I'm talking a Bret hart like apprenticeship through tag ranks. Tag titles. Ic belt.

But he got mad a former main eventer made more money than him in their tag team and he walked.

As cena shows there is a lot more than the sum of the parts to be great.

I actually thought Z-man had more potential than Austin back then.

Yeah, you can tell Vampiro lives for this stuff. Between him and Stryker, they're showing you don't have to have face/heel commentators to have good play-by-play. Stryker has a wrestling background and a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling history. You couple him with Vampiro, who has wrestled everywhere and is definitely a lifer in the business, with his experiences and to me they're a top notch combination.

I had to laugh when the one luchador was chasing Melissa Santos (the announcer) in the ring

So, while watching NXT last night, I had a conversation which led to a bit of a fantasy booking thought I thought I'd share.

They seem to be playing up that Kevin Owens attacked Hideo Itami in the parking lot, so he wouldn't have to potentially face him in an NXT title match. However, what if it was actually Finn Balor who attacked him?

After some Balor squash match, William Regal comes out and says he has some disappointing and upsetting news for everyone. He then shows a somewhat grainy video clip of Balor(in full demon paint) attacking Itami from behind in the parking lot. The crowd is upset, but even more upset is Balor, not because he got caught, but because he has no recollection of attacking his friend. Whenever he "becomes" the demon, he isn't able to control his own actions, its why, while he is undefeated as the demon, he doesn't use it for every match, like maybe why he didn't use it against Owens was because he was afraid of getting DQ'd in a title match. Because Balor subconsciously felt that maybe Itami might have won the #1 contender's match, the demon decided to eliminate Itami as a threat.

You'll want to see last night's episode when you get a chance. Mil Muertes and Fenix were in a Death Match where you can probably guess who got destroyed. The powerbomb in that match was one of those HOLY ####! moves that you mark out to.

No doubt. And if he doesn't need/want the money or want the bump in legacy (because let's admit.....WWE is the mainstream), he'd be better served saying in the "independents". Hell.....a guy like him might be able to build more of a legacy by helping create a brand that gives the WWE some legitimate competition.

I think Kevin Owens is the smell test on this. If his match is good against Cena.....I don't see any reason as to why he wouldn't be top of the card very soon.....what did he spend 7 months in NXT?

If WWE were smart, they'd get all these smark over guys and run an angle with that. If Owens beats Cena...have him come on Raw and say that he refuses to come to Raw/Smackdown because NXT is better talent (he's already said that the NXT belt is the one that matters). Have Balor, Samoa Joe, Zayne, Dallas and Neville do the same. I realize that this angles been done before.....but it would still be an interesting kayfabe situation....that would culminate with CM Punk coming back at either Survivor Series or WM and joining the NXT crew.

I'm not going to pretend to be any expert on the ROH/PWG/Japan/indie rosters, but if I were to make a list of current guys that have never had a WWE run and deserve one, at the top of the list would be AJ Styles. Once Sting finally made it over, the list gets pretty short. And yes, while Styles isn't starving, a run in the WWE means a ton after his wrestling days are over with merch/DVD sales and Legends contracts. It just makes financial sense.

Just because you are ignorant on anything outside of WWE doesn't mean Styles is missing out on some magical fortune by refusing to work 300 days a year and work 4 minute matches with Bo Dallas. Instead, he is the champion of Japan and is the top dog in the Bullet Club, which is rapidly becoming a big brand in America and even globally. NJPW pays their top talent extremely well and, while he may be leaving a little bit of money on the table by not working for Vince, he also works about half the dates and has a ton more freedom.I get why guys like Owens (family) and Joe (challenge) sign with WWE...just like I get why Styles doesn't.

So many reasons for AJ to stay in Japan over the WWE. Then again, all those same reasons applied to Finn Balor (Prince Devitt) and he came to the WWE.

So many reasons for AJ to stay in Japan over the WWE. Then again, all those same reasons applied to Finn Balor (Prince Devitt) and he came to the WWE.

FWIW, WWE is planning a huge July 4 show in Japan. Advertized for the show is... Brock Lesnar.

So I could see them trying to get AJ to appear on that, much like Samoa Joe showing up to NXT while still wrestling elsewhere.
