*** Official *** Rogue One - A Star Wars Story (1 Viewer)

Only a star wars movie could make a chubby offdee 6 seem like a 10. Gonna have to rub one out before I see this

It's lit, so ####### lit.

I did some snooping after watching this latest trailer (skeet skeet) and Nerdist came up with a very logical explanation for the weakness to the Death Star (open exhaust port leading straight to the power source) to blow up the Death Star.

It's a potentially huge spoiler but makes perfect sense.  Check it out.
That's awesome

Got my tickets for Friday night at 7:30. Stoked, b/c its at a theater with reserved seating and those awesome recliner seats. But more importantly, its our 1st SW movie as a family. My kids were not into SW when the last one came out, but now they are all in.  Gonna be a proud nerd-dad moment.

Got my tickets for Friday at 9 pm. Kids are sill a bit too young (5yo). Held them out of TFA and holding off on this one too. Maybe Ep 8 they'll be ready.

Do we think this will be awesome in 3d?
I've always seen 3D as a gimmick. It doesn't really add much for me (other than the price of the ticket), but I did see Doctor Strange in 3D. Even though the visuals were heavily emphasized, I think 2D would've been just as good.

Nothing about Rogue One makes me think 3D would enhance it.

Don't like 3D at all. Messes with my eyes.

Tickets bought for Thursday the 15th, 7pm, IMAX theater. Taking my kids and super excited. We will probably get to the Museum of Science and History where the IMAX theater is pretty early in the day and watch for the line to start because no reserved seating, but should be a good time.

Both kids already talking smack about how they get to go to school Friday before Winter Break and tell all of their friends they saw the movie. :nerdsnobs:

Thanks for the heads up. I just got tickets for the whole family on the 15th at 7:45 with reserved seats so I dont need to rush and be on line.

Will be a nice birthday present. Grab some Texas de brazil and then go up to floor 4 for the movie.

Are people actually complaining about having female leads in the new Star Wars?  If so, go see every single other action movie.  There'll be plenty of male leads.

However, they all may not be white, if that kind of thing sets you off.

Was just about to ask the same.  I think as others have said it's probably gimmicky and it messes with my eyes too.  I will be opting for 2D in a nice theater with recliners.  :)
I saw TFA in 3D and 2D. The 3D really didn't add anything special to it.

I get that some people don't like 3D but I myself love it.  My projector is 3D and bright and I'll wait for huge movies like Avengers or Star Wars to come on-demand before I'll rent them.

Wife got us tickets for Friday at 7:00 in IMAX 3D.

While I agree that 3D isn't necessary, I did notice a big difference between watching in regular 3D vs the IMAX for TFA. So if you're gonna go with 3D, I'd highly recommend the IMAX if that's an option.

That IMAX is worth the money/trip downtown. Both visually and acoustically it's far better than any pretend IMAX at regular theaters. I saw the last Star Wars movie there.

Agreed. I've grown up seeing almost everything there. I was 8 when it was built and I think my grandmother had us there the first month.

8 stories high, by 120 feet wide, 30 degree seating. State of the art sound system literally surrounding you.  It's going to be amazing.

So excited. Have two days worth of tickets. One at Christmas time with 8 people and on opening night.

Got 3D for Saturday nite for the whole family.

Told the science-loving 12 y.o. with an early January b-day that he was going to have to wait since it was PG-13. He was pissed. :pickle:

Lot of critics got to see the first half-hour. Everybody seems to love it. Semi-reviews are out there but pretty spoiler-heavy for the first half-hour

One more week. Sigh. ⏱

I'm using my last vacation day on 12/16 to catch this movie. Helps that our company Christmas party is 12/15 and I'll need a day to recover.

Supposed to have 2 free tickets the  first night. Local company that works with our schools and sponsors a club rents out a whole screen every year and a few of our students (and me) got invites. Stoked.
