Official Rush “Fifty Something Tour” Thread (2 Viewers)

Something that us die hard life long Rush fans thought never possible…..The (2 remaining) boys and the “New Girl” (Anika Niles) are hitting the road in the summer of 2026 to embark on a North American tour to celebrate the legacy of Rush’s music and pay homage to the late great legend…..Neil Peart.

My son now 21 last saw Rush when he was 10 years young with me and my wife in Tampa on the R40 tour. I then travelled with my closest friend to Las Vegas to say goodbye to this band that has literally shaped and been part of my life (they represent so many threads in my fabric) since 1981.

I never ever thought after Neil retired at the end of the R40 tour and then his untimely passing in January of 2020 we would ever see Geddy and Alex play live again on a proper tour. And then several weeks ago out of the clear blue came the announcement.

I am overjoyed and incredibly excited.

My son and I will travel to Fort Worth Texas this upcoming summer to see them on June 24th and 26th from the second and 16 rows respectively.

And then in November (while my son is in college) I will see them in my home state of Florida for two shows at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood (have great seats as well for both shows).

Rejoice Rush brothers and sisters (yes they really do have female fans).

Let the set list speculation begin.

What we know so far is they have come up with a master list of 35 songs that will make up several set-lists which they will rotate show to show. They want to have signature songs in the set that won’t change but rotate several tunes as well.

Here is my list of 35 songs as an initial guess on their list:

Working Man
By Tor & The Snow Dog
2112 Overture/Temples/Grand Finale
Xanadu
The Trees
La Villa Strangiato
The Spirit of Radio
Natural Science
Tom Sawyer
Red Barchetta
YYZ
Limelight
Vital Signs
Subdivisions
The Analog Kid
New World Man
Distant Early Warning
Red Sector A
Between The Wheels
The Big Money
Marathon
Force 10
Mission
Presto
The Pass
Dreamline
Bravado
Roll The Bones
Animate
Driven
Ghost Rider
Far Cry
Clockwork Angels
Headlong Flight
The Garden

It's an unusual tour calendar that'll hopefully save some wear and tear on the band. It's basically three shows per week for six months with only one gap around the 4th of July. No back to back nights scheduled even in venues with multiple shows. I suppose this leaves room to book another show in between but that kind of defeats the purpose.

Any tips on what you expect tickets prices to do when we are over a year out locally?
So be ready to get sticker shock.

Regular priced tickets are anywhere from $99-$995 plus the Ticketbastard fees.

I went VIP packages for my two Fort Worth/Dallas shows as I wanted the 2nd row for at least one show (front row is ridiculous and was not happening) Rows 2-12 are also very expensive and only available via a VIP package (Closer to the Heart package which set me back a bunch but it's Rush and I would never ever do this for any other band). My 16th Row tickets were $790 per all in.

My Hard Rock Live tickets down here in South Florida were $505 per and I am upper Orchestra about 25 rows back.....but the seats are elevated and you have a beautiful view of the stage and the sound in this venue is second to none.

Needless to say for 4 shows (2 in Texas) I am in for 5K with travel expenses for Texas. That's 8 tickets. Again it's obscene. I get it.....money is not really a factor for me fortunately but I do have limits. I reached those on this tour. I will never spend like this for any other band ever.

YOu know Rush has been a part of my life since I was 11 years young. They had such a profound influence on my direction in life, how I view life, the people I suround myself with (or not) it's that profound.

And the power of music is that strong for me. I have been a lifelong musician......my son has been a progressive rock drummer as well since age 3. That early he started banging on the skins. We have played live together.....we also are recording an album right now that has been a labor of love for us going on 2 years. With him being a college baseball player we have limited time to track etc....but it's coming along.

The inspiration Rush has been to me and my son cannot be measured in dollars. It is ingrained in our souls......it's that strong. So one last time with the boys and the new girl.....4 shows, killer seats, with my son for two of those shows in June and then my closest friend and former drummer and my wife......priceless.

I don't blame anyone who lays out large amounts of cash to catch their favorite artist in whatever genre of music they may be. If the music is that important to you......then **** everyone else and do you. You only live once.

Do I like where big arena/stadium concert ticket prices have gone post covid? Absolutely not. Without getting political our federal government created this monster and legalized mafia known as Ticketmaster/Live Nation to be born. They need to be ripped to shreds like Ma Bell was. It has to happen to see any type of change.

I go to at least half a dozen shows every year but all the bands I see are anywhere from $30-$125 a ticket. I just saw Dream theater two times this past year and sat 3rd row both times for $125 per ticket. I saw Steven Wilson this month in Durham NC for $100 in a 100 year old theater and it was maybe one of the greatest progressive rock concerts I have ever seen.

There are so many great artists out there that can be seen for far less than what I just paid for Rush........but there is only one Rush and 10 years ago I thought it was over.

One last ride with them.....I can't wait!!!

Not a "big" Rush fan, but do like a lot of their "radio" songs. Going w/ work tickets on the 24th in Fort Worth w/ 2 guys who were drummers in bands and their wives. Also taking little sister and her husband.

Hopefully a good time and they only play one "extended" song.

Tix prices are ridiculous. I’m not sure I would pay a quarter of what is being priced out and that’s before the tixmaster tax. The presale was incredibly frustrating and the general tix sale was impossible. The digital scalper bots swooped in and captured a large percentage of tix promoting the band to declare sell outs and a pre-planned expansion of cities and dates. Ppl that laid out the money for tix, air travel, and lodging soon found out that they didn’t need to travel as tour dates were announced in their hometown. I was optimistic and excited and laid the groundwork to travel and join friends and family to enjoy the shows. We needed 6 tix and after several of us tried to score we ended up getting two nose bleed tix for $350 per ticket. Its a mess. Rush management in the past would never allow this but how much of this gouge can they try to minimize in 2025? The last resort is to go to the tix window the day of the show and hope for the best. Keep in mind that would be plucking down air fare and lodging. Disappointing.

Planning out a trip for myself and thinking I may go to a Toronto show to see the boys on their home turf. Leave from Maryland and head to canton to see the NFL HOF, go to Cleveland for the RnR HOF, hit my old hometown of Buffalo for a day of revisiting my childhood then dip across the border to see the falls and absorb the joy of Rush. Figure driving up Tuesday and turning around for home Saturday.

First things first, have to get my passport.

Asked my wife if she wanted Rush tix for our 23rd wedding anniversary last week. Been sleeping on the couch for the last week.
Yep, kind of the same response I got asking my lady friend if she wanted to go. Never finished the sentence before she blurted out "No".

I am not convinced they will try to play something from every album (I see you every studio album covered there except Caress of Steel), but I think they will do their best to cover every era at least a little bit.

Test for Echo was the only album ignored on the last four Rush tours, so it will be interesting to see if anything from that comes back.

I like the idea of playing Ghost Rider, given its connection to Neil.

I hope Far Cry is put to sleep like it should have been after the S&A tour (good song, but not worthy of multiple tours, much less every tour since).

I love Marathon, but Geddy couldn't sing the chorus right back in 2010, and I can't imagine it being any better now. I'd rather they leave that one alone.

I think Time Stand Still is the most likely to get played from Hold Your Fire.

Closer to the Heart and Freewill both are likely candidates.

Even though I feel they have many better songs, it would be cool to see them bring back Fly by Night, which unbelievably hasn't been played by the band since the 70s.

My friend bought 2 tickets in the 100-level at the United Center in Chicago for $940. I’m glad I saw them twice because that’s a hard pass.

I’m hoping Iron Maiden/Megadeth/Anthrax is a little lighter on the wallet.

Geddy despises Fly By Night (the song).

Marathon is a tough one agree. I wouldn’t mind hearing Manhattan Project again.

Driven is a tremendous tune from T4E but they may bypass that album again.

CTTH…..yeah I guess. And how is Geddy gonna handle the “Each of us a cell of awareness” coming out of the solo section of Freewill??

That’s why I left that out.

Far Cry can be put to bed agree but they love that album. Maybe they do a deeper cut from Snakes who knows.

In addition to Ghost Rider I would kill for Afterimage as another nod to Neil (even though it was not about him as we know).

It will be interesting to see what the set lists look like as they will have 35 tunes rehearsed for it.

I bought Oasis tickets day of the show. Flew out there without tickets.

I guess it's possible no cheap tickets appear on any of the ticket sites, and all Rush fans pay scalper prices. But I would recommend downloading some of the ticket apps, tracking the shows. A few days before the show, you'll have an idea what you may pay

Unlike they announce a show for my city (which they have not yet), no. I couldn't justify paying an arm and a leg for a ticket and then having to throw in travel expenses. I have seen them on every tour since the early 90s, so if I never see them again, I wouldn't be that sad about it. 2015 felt like such a great way to end my Rush concert-going days.

If they do play something from Test for Echo, I'd like to see the title track come back. That still stands as the only Rush track 1 to be played on only tour ever, and I think it's a very good song.

And of course I'd be down for just about anything from the synth era, but I don't see the era getting a ton of representation outside of some of the obvious picks.

Love Test For Echo. Outstanding song. Agree.

The Clockwork Angels tour they really showed the synth era a ton of love and like you my favorite era of Rush was 1978-1987. That stretch of albums is just incredible. Hemispheres thru Hold Your Fire.

I am pretty sure they play all the standards from the synth era and nothing surprising.

I would say 2112 through Power Windows for me is their peak, but I do like the albums before (Caress of Steel) and after (Hold Your Fire) that run quite a bit. Hold Your Fire is weird in that the production makes it a tough listen from start to finish, as that kind of crash-bangy sound as Neil once called it is a bit hard to take with one song after another, but when listening to the band on shuffle, most of the songs from it sound great.

I guess it's possible no cheap tickets appear on any of the ticket sites, and all Rush fans pay scalper prices. But I would recommend downloading some of the ticket apps, tracking the shows. A few days before the show, you'll have an idea what you may pay
From the last leg of Vapor Trails to the last leg of CA - we had awesome opportunities to score quality tix at the box office 2 hours prior to the show. Its a dedicated sacrifice as a small group of fanatics are usually camped out from 11am local time until the score. Always nailed main floor 15th row or better. Plus it was always fun meeting strangers just chewing the fat all day. Weather is a factor in addition to access to a restroom and food.

I think these will be fun shows w Anika and Rush always pulls out a few deeper cuts. Curious to see the other musicians. Neil had complicated whiz bang electronics, loops, and digital samplers so these capabilities will most likely roll into a keyboard player’s purview. Same with most of Ged’s non-bass parts. Another interesting aspect here will be Ged’s vocals. Wonder what the quality will be like and if extended instrumental tracks will show up on the set list. Lastly, the pre and post concert house mix tape that Neil used to put together. I wonder what the approach will be on the tour. Maybe they can produce a compilation of the bands that they toured with over the years - Kiss, UFO, Primus, Mr Big, Nazereth, Rory Gallagher, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep etc..

The last resort is to go to the tix window the day of the show and hope for the best

All three guys were always triggering other stuff with their feet and whatnot, and considering they said having an extra musician or two along this time will allow them to have more time and freedom to have fun on stage, I suspect whatever keyboard player they bring along with do the lion's share of that going forward. I would have no problem as well with bringing a backup singer or two, that way they can do those harmonies live instead of them having to do the triggered ones. Imagine a couple of live singers doing the "when we are young" parts in Dreamline live and Geddy then doing the response with his live voice. Would be very cool.

The Garden

Geddy despises Fly By Night (the song).
To unpack this a little more, I know he has hated that song, but opinions change. I could see him coming around on it and maybe enjoying it more now. I don't do Spotify, but a quick look at their site shows that it is their 5th most listened-to song, and if Geddy and Alex are paying attention to streaming numbers at all to see what songs fans are digging the most in 2025, I could see them reconsidering a song like Fly by Night. Again, it is not one of my favorites, but I enjoy it, and I can only imagine the ovation it would get that first night when it hits the fans that, "holy crap, they are playing Fly by Night!" Play that very early in the set, like the 2nd or 3rd song, and that would be a heckuva surprise, similar to how the Snakes & Arrows tour had several big surprises very early in the first set (Digital Man, Mission, Entre Nous).

I can't see Geddy handling vocals on a lions share of Rush's pre 80's output. The only way I see Fly By Night happening......tuned down a full step. That is a really tough vocal. 2112 has been tuned down a half step since 1996/97.

I would be thrilled if we heard a full rendition of Anthem, Lakeside Park and Fly By Night......three classic early pre 2112 tunes. You know what deep cut would be really awesome?

In The End.

Such a killer underrated track that closes the Fly By Night album.

I started my front to back listen thru of every record. Something I have not done since Neil passed away. I am already up to A Farewell to Kings. I listen to one or two albums on my drive to and from the office. Once we get to HYF and beyond we won't be able to listen to it on a one way drive LOL. I remember when albums were 25-30 minutes max......the good old days of vinyl.
