Official Sam Bradford - QB (5 Viewers)

Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski reports Sam Bradford has "easily been the most accurate quarterback" in Eagles camp.
Bradford has also been the most consistent on a daily basis, per Kempski. He's appeared healthier and more "sturdy" with his footing another year removed from ACL surgery. Bradford took a ton of heat during the slow parts of the offseason, but he's been doing everything right in camp. Rookie Carson Wentz has had his moments, but this is Bradford's team in 2016.

honestly I like Bradford   As another poster/thread said   This is his best situation yet   It might be time to shine

Hopefully he can absorb a new playbook quickly..

Upgraded slightly on a team with elite run game and solid WRs.

Added as a 4th QB in a 2qb league that I waited on QBs.

ESPN's Britt McHenry reports Sam Bradford has "done really well" picking up the playbook, and "all options [are] still available" at quarterback for the Vikings' Week 1 opener against the Titans.
Bradford and Shaun Hill have been splitting first-team reps in practice the past two days since the trade, and Bradford is apparently picking up the offense somewhat quickly. He's had plenty of experience learning new offenses in his brief career, seemingly always having to pick up a new playbook each year. The Vikings want Bradford under center as soon as possible. Putting Hill in at quarterback gives the offense very little chance at finding success.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports the Vikings are worried about Sam Bradford's ability to make changes at the line Week 1.
Bradford might be able to learn enough of the playbook to run the offense in practice, but being able to make calls at the line and check into the correct plays is another matter. If he cannot pick up enough of those nuances before Sunday, the Vikings will likely sit him, especially with **** LeBeau calling the shots on the other side.

Shurmur: Bradford's An Extremely Fast Learner

Shurmur says Bradford has the 3 primary elements that a QB needs, which are decision making, accuracy and timing.

Turner on Bradford's Progress, Challenges He Faces

The main point Norv makes is that Hill has 2 years of practicing within the system and the other players compared to Bradford who has only had a few days. It is about building chemistry and timing with the other players. He says an interesting thing about the play terminology being based on a certain player for a certain play from a few seasons ago and so they have to explain that to Bradford (or whatever new player) but that the story behind it helps players better understand the play and remember it.

Shaun Hill did not exude confidence in his press conference. He is not very polished with speaking to the press despite him following Mike Zimmers lead to start the press conference by joking that the press doesn't have any questions. Something I have seen Bradford do as well, but in a more relaxed way. With Hill this lightness seems forced, not genuine.

It's one half guys. I'm a long time Bradford owner in dynasty myself (my qb2), but let's cool it a little. Wait until opponents get some tape of Sam in this new system.

Not saying he's going to be Drew Brees - but he should have a decent season.  I think Vikes made the right move.

Bradford showed a lot last season especially the last half.  He's never had a shot to prove anything.  He's been hurt a lot, traded, switched offenses.  I think Bradford is one of the best value QBs in dynasty. I bought everywhere last season and the season before.  I'm not surprised one bit by this performance.  He's going to be great for the Vikings.

This could be a good spot for Bradford, he's always been accurate, wonder how serious Teddy's injury is .

As an Eagles fan, I was not unhappy with the Eagles decision to sign Bradford to a two year deal in the spring. Part of it was because he was going to be in his second year back from a major injury, and most players aren't totally back until the second year. The other factor in Bradford's success this year, without a superstar supporting cast, I think is attributable to his playing in a Chip Kelly offense. Not because that is the greatest offense ever but because it forces you to do everything at high speed. By sheer necessity it forces you to speed up your decision making as a QB. Now that Sam is back in a normal offense, my guess is that everything has slowed down for him and he is reading the field better than he ever did before.

If he continues to play well, is Teddy out of a job come next year?
He may be a guy the organization holds on to for depth. Similar to Glennon in Tampa. Showed potential but never really blew anyone away. They brought in Jameis and now he's second string until his contract ends at the end of the season. BUT....there's still a lot of football to play. Bradford could still revert at any moment. Truly will be a let's see it all through the season approach.

From all accounts Teddy might not even be ready by the first game next season. Then way Bradford is playing makes this look like a blessing for the Vikings and their offense looks much more effective with Bradford.

what's his trade value in dyno?
Really depends on league type.

10 team 2 QB PPR empire league (2 titles = end of league). I'm not actively looking to deal him  but i've gotten couple offers within the past 2 weeks. Was offered Latavius Murray straight up Another offer was Jamison Crowder I believe. Declined both w/o hesitation. Those offers might not be too bad in 1 QB leagues so maybe something like that is reasonable to expect.

Draft Pick value: 2 QB format = I personally won't take less than Round 1 pick. 1 QB format  (14-16 teams) = Round 2-3.

God, he blows.

If you told me that was Jared Goff, I would have believed you.

Completely afraid to throw if further than 9 yards, turtles when anyone gets a mitt on him.

This guy is a vet of how many years??  Checking down to a back standing 4 yards of him, not even on the move, every other play.  Just a wimp.

lol.  Throwing it farther then 9 yards requires an oline that's better than a high school oline to give you time to do so.  He does not have that.

He was doing it pretty much in rhythym, with no pressure.  I have no idea why people make excuss for this guy 7 years in, but he is not good.

He faced pressure many times last night.  Was sacked, rushed, throwing outside the pocket, heck even had to take off running a few times.  Without his team fumbling in their own redzone, he might have led his team to beat one of, if not the best team in the NFL.  Some people have it in their head that he sucks, and disappear when he plays well but like to talk everytime he loses a game.  He looked better than Dak last night.

And if they had beaten the Cowboys last night, it would have been in spite of Bradford, not because of him.

He was under pressure, yes.  So is every other QB in the league.  The common thesis with Bradford is supporting cast.  Real QBs put up numbers with lesser talent than he has had.  Cam Newton went to the Super Bowl with one TE, and nothing else worth talking about.

When he faced no pressure, he was still dropping it short, to a back that was stopped and facing him, 4 yards away, with no shot of making anything happen.  Bradford is even afraid/incapable of throwing a short pass to a WR in stride, who might be able to actually get some RAC.  He looked TERRIFIED last night, some guy swiped at him with one arm, and Bradford hit the ground like he had been shot in the skull.

Bradford truthers need to give up the ghost.  Game manager types are always capable of stringing together games when they look good, that's what happens when your running game dominates, or your receivers take your sorry little passes and run for 40 yards.

He's a poor man's Alex Smith.  No more, no less.

He has the worst oline in the league.  While it may be fun and easy for you to say 'oh its another excuse', that is a valid hit on a qb.  You're comparing him to Cam?  No one is saying he's in Cam's league.  I definitely am not saying he's anything close to a league MVP.

You mention a lot of his short passes, a lot of that is play calling.  A lot of that is nobody being open.  There were not a lot of plays last night where he had an open man downfield deep and had the time to stand in the pocket until they got open and just decided he didn't want to throw it to him.  Again, easy to throw darts at the guy especially after a loss, but the place was pretty quiet when his team was 5-0.  This loss was not at all on him.

Running game dominates???  Min is last in the league in rushing offense!

The thing about Sam is that his excuses are ACTUALLY valid.  Terrible Oline, Atrocious Rush offense, his 4th offensive coordinator of the last 9 months, etc.  No one is calling him a great QB, but the lazy argument against Bradford truthers always seems to be that we think he's the next Brady.  He's an average NFL QB.

disagree.  but we all know how you are on these boards once your mind is made up and once you like/dislike someone.

The O-line notion would be one thing if it were just this season, but Bradford's entire career has been this way.  His YPA is 26th in the NFL right now and it's his 2nd best YPA of his entire career, and that's in spite of him being in the top 10 in pass yards from YAC.  His career best YPA is 7.0 which would be good for 22nd right now, just ahead of Case Keenum.

His YPA over the last 2 years puts him in the same range of guys that have completion percentages 10 points below him.  His yards per completion is barely better than some of the league leaders are throwing for in yards per attempt.

He's a unique QB, we can say that.  Nice and safe, maybe good for a game manager, but I can't recall any QB that's ever been less of a downfield throwing threat in the modern era.  Lowest percentage of passes over 10 yards in the NFL for the 2nd year running now, and I'd be surprised if he wasn't down there in his prior years as well (can't find the data).

6-6 with the league's #3 scoring defense is really bad.  The other teams in the top 3 in scoring defense are a combined 16-5 and the top 5 is 30-14.  It seems like teams have figured out that all they have to do to beat Minnesota is play to take away the YAC as Bradford's YPA has spiraled downwards during this losing streak even as his completion percentage has skyrocketed upwards to historic levels.
