***Official SEAHAWKS Playoff Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Let the doubting begin. This is the NFC Championship game I envisioned and the Panthers and their two wins (and the over) are going to pay for my flight to Detroit to watch the Hawks on February 5th.

So, how many guys are we going to put on Smith next week?
Panthers are hit and miss on both offense and defense. Hopefully they are all miss next week because when they hit they are as good as anyone.

:goodposting: It's been the story of their season. The Seahawks better hope they are off their game because if they are on they can beat anyone.

I like Seattle's chances this week. They had better cut down on the turnovers. Put Warrick back there to field punts, because Jimmy Williams was :X Their defense does not scare me, only Steve Smith. Speaking of defense, when did Seattle get one :excited:

Honest question here, so I'm not needling you at all. What's the talk around Seattle about Shaun Alexander's injury during the game? I made the comment elsewhere that for a guy missing the most important game of his career with a concussion, he sure had a lot of energy to expend on cheerleading. Whenever I saw Steve Young or Troy Aikman knocked out of a game, they tended to be sitting hunched over on the bench for the rest of the game with a towel over their head and a dazed look on their face. This of course becomes especially suspect given that he's been called "soft", and given his history (since ironed out) of acrimony between himself and the team. What's the local take on all of this?

The local news is that Alexander didn't know where he was until they got him off the field and sitting on the bench. After sitting on the bench and feeling better, he attempted to re-enter the game but the Doctors told him he couldn't go back in.

Chuck Norris is going to sign with the Panthers. He's going to line up on the first play and roundhouse kick Matt Hasselbeck. His foot will clang against the side of Matt's helmet, shattering his own ankle in three places. Matt will call down the fury of Zeus and, as lightning channels through his body, putting on a mighty fireworks display, Shaun Alexander will reach into Chuck's torso and pull out his still-beating heart.Don't #### with the Seahawks.

Good information here.

Not many Seattle fans on here, thats for sure
And why WOULD there be alot? The LAST CHAMPIONSHIP of ANY sort was back in 1990. :wall:
Don't need a lot. Those that are, are. All the bandwaggoners and observers serveonly one purpose: to make more merchandise made available in Seahawks blue. Bring on the fur-hooded parka!! Been waiting for 3 years for it.

Page 3 you have got to be kidding me, Seattle is 1 game away from the Super Bowl.

Bump :hot:
We are few. We are quiet. We are the typical northwest fan. Scared and hopeful.
I'm from Michigan so add pessimistic to the mix. The Locklear thing isn't ideal. The only thing I can see as a positive is if he gets really Po'd this week and comes out playing mad. Not that playing Peppers is going to be fun but at least he has something to play for now he's being hit hard in the news.

Looking at Carolina's schedule I see some impressive wins against Atlanta, @ Tampa, and then some not so impressive games vs the Saints, Cowboys, Bucs, and Bills. They recovered well vs Chicago after having their asses handed to them earlier this year so there is no doubt they will be ready.

The Seahawks have to take it to them early and often to solicit a game like they played vs the Bucs in Carolina. This team has won two road games in the playoffs and are 8-2 this year away from home. Plus a lot of these guys have been here before and Delhomme is 5-1 in the playoffs. I like our chances, but they have to play their best game of the year this week.

Agreed, it's far from a gimme. We stack up well on both sides to be the winners of this but WE need to play our top game. No slow starts and getting hot later. Carolina can hang with anyone when they're on so we have to make sure they're out of reach from the start. I like our line a ton more than CHI and expect plenty of holes for SA to bust through and playaction for the NFC leading QB to trash their D. Just like last week, I am not nervous or scared, but confident. But it will be a true test, if we ARE the team we think we are, this is the game to prove it. Dman, it's finally good to be a 'Hakws fan. Well, it's always good but this year it's better.

I have never been this excited about the Hawks and maybe only the 97 Red Wings in pro sports tops this high. In 83/84 I was still young so it didn't mean as much especially after living through the past 21 seasons of crap. I'm not nearly as nervous this week because they won a playoff game and really shed a lot of bad mojo in the process. Now I think it boils down to who is the better team. I think Seattle is a little better from head to toe so it all boils down to execution and whether they can run the ball. Even if Carolina plays their best game the Seahawks can easily hang by playing their kind of game.

Hopefully SA is 100 percent and they can give it to him in earnest early to get that ball rolling. SA at 80 yards in the third quarter means 80 more coming in the last quarter and a half. If they can pound it even guys like Rucker and Peppers are going to wear down. This is going to be a very good game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't there be a :penalty: called in there somewhere, like for illegal contact or something?

The officials wouldn't see it because they'd be preoccupied with the lightening Hasselbeck is channeling. Duh.Seahawks fans are around, we're just not used to this and a little bit in shock. We don't know how to deal with this whole thing, and it's not in our nature to get too cocky about our team. Rest assured, however, that we're here, fired up, and rooting hard for our team.
:goodposting: because usually we are :bag: by now.

You can sure say that again :( I don't know, I love are chances. If we can play like crap and beat a very good Redskin team just think what they can do to Carolina if they play well.

I have never ever seen the defense play that well, I hope they can do it again.

I had visions of the 83-84 defenses. Except they ran an entirely different scheme, got after the quarterback more, and created more turnovers. Oh, and they sent a ton of guys to the pro-bowl too. Actually, they were nothing alike. :bag:

I was 12, but at that age if you weren't a QB or WR, I didn't care. I could have given you Krieg and Largent, but that's it. I even would have spelled Krieg properly.

I dare you to throw a penalty flag on Chuck Norris.

I was 14. It was just when I was becoming a real fan. After they did so well in the 83 playoffs (Monster upset in Miami vs young Marino) everyone on the planet was picking the Seahawks to win it all in 84. Vegas had them WAY out in front as a favorite to be in the Super Bowl. The hype was intense all over the place. Much more so than the 95 or 00 Mariners. And then it all came crashing down in the first game when Warner blew the knee. They still went 12-4 and ended up losing to Marino in the playoffs. The defense on that team was awesome. Would consistently only rush 3 DL and got tons of pressure. I think all three guys up front were in double digit sack totals. On top of that Kenny Easley was a beast. He was huge and brought the wood too many times to count. He was an amazing athlete. He even returned some punts (one for a score if I remember correctly). They were an odd team because of the killer defense mixed with an aerial attack on offense. Krieg threw for 32 TDs. 32! That more than anyone else threw for this year. Still one of the best years ever by a QB. And with no running game to speak off.

Ahhhh memories...

Yeah, but unless you're a Mariners fan as well you can't truly appreciate what we're going through around here.
I'm a Canucks fan.The defence rests.

That means nothing to me  I can never tell if you're misspelling things or if that's just what's proper up in Canadia.
And you talking about the World's Most Boring Game means nothing to me either, so you're going to have to trust me.ps - The Canucks are the geographically closest NHL team to you. Even if you don't follow hockey, it's preposterous to think you wouldn't receive some degree of coverage of them.

Canucks games are sometimes part of the local sports report during the news, but not regularly. Quite often there is a Canuck game that doesn't get mentioned at all.

That's unfortunate. The team is only a couple of hours away. Are there no hockey fans in Seattle?

Not many. The Thunderbirds were news worthy for awhile playing in the Seattle Arena, but I haven't heard much from this in quite some time. I don't know what league they play in.http://www.seattle-thunderbirds.com/index.php

They play in the WHL (Western Hockey League). It is one of the three branches (along with the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) and the QMJHL (Quebec & Maritime Junior Hockey League)) of the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) which is the highest level of junior hockey in Canada. It's the premiere place for kids to play right before being drafted into the NHL and future stars from all over the world are starting to play there, not just Canadian juniors.Oh, and now Chuck Norris is telling me we should get back to talking about football.

I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but Walter Jones actually led the assault on Juno beach on D-Day. Chuck Norris hid behind him as they advanced on the Nazis. A Panzer tank tried a swim move on Walt and he pancaked it.

:goodposting: I met Daryl Turner who is from Flint Michigan a few years ago. I was wearing a Seahawks hat at a gas station and he said he was a big fan as well! He said do you remember a receiver named Daryl...and I said Turner before he could finish. Nice guy.

This is an awesome list but I see a glaring omission of Theotis Brown who was the Seahawks career rushing leader prior to Curt Warner.

Check out these jawdropping stats in 1981:

1981 sea | 10 | 141 531 3.8 6 | 25 268 10.7 0

Guy was a :football: beast!

One time a small comet fragment fell into a synchronous orbit with the Earth. The planet was catching up with it and was going to collide, so they sent out Mack Strong to block. Not only did he muscle the comet fragment straight into the sun, but the vacuum of his wake sped up the Earth's rotation, and that's why we have leap years.

Seahawks almost lost Hass to Phins

This is a good article from the San Diego Union Tribune about the trade of Matt Hasselbeck to the Seahawks. I had no idea some of the things that were involved and the whole business with the Dolphins is scary. I have thought for the past two years that Hasselbeck was extremely underrated and the deal we made to get him was genius. It was essentially for a 3rd rounder considering that we took Steve Hutchinson with the pick we swapped with GB. Good stuff. Go Hawks!

Smoo...hypothetical for you. Say the Seahawks had to play Chuck Norris and 10 CN clones on a space platform off the moon of Titan. The defense is playing a Tampa two with the free safety drifting toward the line of scrimmage. How does Hasselbeck find the soft spot and identify the real Chuck Norris? Who wins the game based on the variables I've provided?

Hint: Walker Texas Rangers is the team name and Bolo is the defensive coordinator.

Hint duex: The atmospheric pressure near the surface of Titan is about 1.6 bars, 60 percent greater than Earth's and Titan's surface temperature appears to be about -178°C.

He rears back and punches the ground. The resultant shockwave will send the Chuck Norris players flying outwards from the seismic ripple. Joe Jurevicius will then leap into the revealed soft spot and take the ball for a first down and probably a lot more. The real Chuck Norris will be the one cowering under the bleachers.

DJAX (knee) and Engram (back) are both listed questionable on the injury report. That DJAX knee thing can't be good. DAMMIT!
Take a deep breath and take these into account.Ken Lucas is overrated. If he was any good Seattle would not of let him get away. If Chris Gamble can't play that means Ricky Manning JR. Can you see JJ going against him :excited: If DJax can't play(and I am sure he will) JJ who leads the team in TD's will be fine.

As for Engram, I just think he's avoding punt return duty ;)

Peppers was also listed as questionable.

Ice is for:1) keeping drinks cold;

2) making owies hurt less.

In that order.

This is homer talk. Have you seen him play all season? He was pro-bowl material this year. He rarely gets beat and has proven to be an excellent tackler. Maybe the Seahawks thought he wasn't good, but this year has proven that he is in the top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL.

Agreed. I'm a Seattle homer, and really wish that they would have kept Lucas. :(
