Man that was a great win. The 1983 win @ Miami compares but that may have been the best playoff win in franchise history.
I think we want New Orleans. They are so-so on defense and they lack playoff experience. Bears would just be a bad matchup with the way the offense has looked. But damn if they aren't still in this.

I gotta disagree. The Carolina game last year was the best. Still watch the end of that on Tivo and mist up a little. This one was truly a great win, a testament to a team reaching deep into it;s guts and not giving up. Guys from the bench, guys from the streets being helped and tutored and TRUSTED by the long timers all giving it. The stars coming up big, even if only a few times in the game. I only heard Tatupu's name once before the Witten tackle, and he gets the Top of the Rock! What a game!!! Second best playoff game!Where my peoples at?Man that was a great win. Props to Babineaux for the tackle on Romo and for really playing a solid game. Seahawks allowed a pretty powerful O to just 13 points which is impressive. I agree the Carolina game was the most important win but I think the Dolphins game in 1984 and tonight topped it in true intrinsic value. I could really care less. If the Seahawks win I'm pretty ####### happy. Only if the Detroit Tigers win am i happier. If you knew me and how big of a sports fan I am, that's pretty ####### happy on any scale. Babineaux is the Star Killah!!! Now, damage control. I know there's probably no word out yet but very anxious to know Jackson's and Hackett's status. That ghoul on the sideline said Hackett was trying to return during the game but still limping. Hackett, and Jacksons injuries would be sad, but not a down fall. The secondary has been the big story, and they put that #### to rest.

Unfortunately so far it's all been about how the Cowgirlz didn't even test them. Cowboys this and Cowboys that. The backfield is going to have to settle for us fans giving them props cuz the talking heads only have ears and mouths for Glenn, Romo, Tuna, and TwhO?. Deoin was saying nobody ever heard of Babineaux before, but you know the Joneses know who he is.Not sure the O is "back" but they're progressing every week the last few weeks. The D has also improved their fundamentals the last few weeks, especially tackling. So optimism abounds.Great ####### game, I was truely impressed. Forgot to give props to Stevens. I feel I've stuck by his side through a lot of the #### up times and I finally got down on him mid season this year. I like that he wasn't an ### after the TDs and I really like that Hass had his hands in the air for a TD before Stevens even caught the ball. For all his troubles, if your QB believes in you then you get the ball. Good game Jerramy.

I think the best storyline from this game was that Jerramy Stevens saved his reputation on the national stage.
6 targets. 5 catches. 2 touchdowns.
Further, the one pass he didn't catch was because of a defensive hold and got them the first down anyway. Seriously. If he follows this up with another solid game next week he vaults into top 10 TE lists going into next year all over the place.

I need to cool off, Hasselback has to get his #### together. On seahawks.net, the only other board I know of, they HATE Stevens. He's had his troubles but who didn't do dumb stuff at 22? He was hurt this year, and had a confidence problem. I am glad he rose up. We will need him especially if Djax and Hackett are out.

I really do like Stevens and always have. The guy isn't supposed to play big in this offense with all the weapons and his transgressions and failures are so overrated. He didn't lose the Super Bowl last year and in fact he almost won it if it weren't for the call on Locklear. With DAJX and Hackett injured, Branch not a big part of the scheme just yet, and Engram just coming back Stevens is huge. If they win next week Stevens will play a big roll. Only one I thought was bad was the 3rd holding, on Engram. The first two 3rd down flags were good calls, but they called the wrong penalty on each. First should've been PI, second illegal contact. But I really feel they were both pretty easy flags as both times the defender had his hands all over the receiver. And Newman clearly had an arm bar on Nate. And though it was a little out of his reach, I guess the reasoning is that he could've got both hands out a little further if not for the tug. Luckily they don't take a receiver's personal history into account when deciding what was "catchable". Otherwise that would only be a flag if it was Hackett on the route.The refs were also pretty equally bad on holding non-calls for both O-lines (allegedly). I wasn't paying attention to the alleged "massive" holds (according to Bankerman) by the Hawks, but I saw several fistfulls of jersey by #75 that went unpunished.What's very important to this game is that the refs got the replays right. And they would've had another chance to prove it if the Tuna would've challenged the Witten catch and fumble in the first quarter.

I woke up at 3 today still pretty drunk. 
I wanted them to play the Cowboys in the first round and got my wish. I really think they have a better chance to beat the Saints than the Bears even if the match-ups may say otherwise. Chicago is not a good offensive team but I really like their intangibles and they put a whipping of the Hawks earlier this year which lends to confidence. I think they have a decent chance to beat the Bears but they need a lot of things to go right and they would have to have the lead or they would be facing blitz after blitz.
After watching NO several times they are pretty hit or miss. I watched them vs the Cowboys and they looked perfect, then I watched them vs the Skins and thought anyone could beat them. Brees is a beast and that offense is a machine but I think they’ll come out nervous and they’ll likely be about a seven point favorite. I think the city expects a lot and there will be a lot of pressure, they lack experience, and if they make some early mistakes they could get flustered. Either way playing a road game at New Orleans or Chicago is not exactly what I was hoping for earlier this year but to be in the Divisionals after a nice win like that in the WC game is fine by me. I just think you want to play the team that is 10-6 having completely turned their franchise around in just 12 months than having to go to Chicago who is battle tested and who beat the Seahawks badly in September. I’m rooting for the Giants today.

I'm staying with thinking the Bears are better. It's a different Bears team than the one that whupped us. If the Bears are on, we can still hold them defensively and hope for some of last year's O magic to combat their D. If the Saints are on, they score 48 points. The QB is under a microscope and every bad play is going to get the crowd on him and contrary to popular belief, Griese sucks too. In NO, their crowd is as potent as ours and they simply will not get down on their team.And as much as I thought the win in TB was important for the team to have any success, I think avenging an embarassing loss is important. The win yesterday was phenomenal, but there were so many things outside the team's influence that helped the win. Now they need the next boost, avenge their loss, beat a team with a good D and roll into the NFCC with a pocketful of confidence. Beating a NO team that crumbled under playoff pressure wouldn't instill as much confidence, IMO. However, when it all comes down to it, I don't care who we play, we have another game and still have a shot to get to the Big Dance again.I woke up at 3 today still pretty drunk.

I'd definitely rather play NO next week. Even with their offensive woes, the Bears at home in January would be very difficult to pull off.
I'm just happy we get to play at least 2 games this post-season---I wasn't very confident going into last night's game. Sweet win.

I really believe that the Bears would be the team that we should play next. Grossman is so bad, and their defense is not what it was the first time we played. I am proud the way the secondary played, but I think Bree's would pick it apart. On top of that they have McCallister and Bush that they would have to plan for. and you guys know how good the Seahawks run defense has been. 
Grossman will hand the ball off to Jones over and over again. Seattle gains a lead and Grossman has to put it up. Even with are patchwork defense I think we win that match up.
Either way I like are chances against those two teams(I'm afraid of the Eagles) I just hope we get the late game, Seattle does not do well on the eastern time zone.
Maybe it wouldn't be bad if the Giants took out the Eagles for us? :whoosh:

Didn't really want that although the match-ups might be better. Just thought the Saints were ripe for a beating plus it would have been nice for them to play at a reasonable hour. Those 10 am Pacific time starts have never been a plus as someone else mentioned. I'm wondering about the injury situation for Seatlle. It really would be nice to get Trufant back but that is the least likely. DJAX and Hackett? If anyone hears anything this week post it here.

not a very convincing piece -especially the part about them being the best DEF in the league - that is clearly the BAL Ravens.In the last 2 months of the season Chicago was a very pedestrian group, with maybe the only category that they stood out in being INTs. They were middle of the road in fumbles recovered, passing yards against, rushing yards against, total yards against and points with 186 during that span - about the same as the Packers, Texans and Bengals - not exactly defensive jauggernauts... The best thing you can say about them is that they scored 5 TDs during that time - but 4 of them came from Devin Hester on special teams. Sorry Smoo I threw my back out and haven't been able to get here. I did hear from a reliable source that Lofa Tatupu once conquered Indochina with a bow and arrow and a tea cup. He wouldn't have even used the tea cup but he fooled British presence there into thinking he was Prince George the Ninth and they gave him all their fat chicks with bad teeth. This strategic genius led to the overthrow of Phnom Penh and the creation of the modern day Kama Sutra. Guy is a beast.

I think this article is an indication of how much the Seahawks have overcome in terms of injuries. The article ranks all the teasms in the NFL based on starter games lost, and Seattle ranks as the 26th healthiest team and the least healthiest team to make the playoffs.

Jennings is the man. Everybody talks about how we didn't deserve this win, nobody talks about how the secondary shut down the Dallas passing game.
Cornerback Kelly Jennings, Seattle Seahawks: Jennings was a hero Saturday. He made an incredible play on a quick pass to Glenn by stripping the ball from Glenn's hands and setting up a safety. Still, Bill Parcells is being criticized for not going after him more. The Seahawks are down three cornerbacks. Two corners were lost for the postseason in the regular-season finale and Marcus Trufant is a week away from playing because of a high-ankle sprain. Parcells sent Terrell Owens to Jennings' side, but only six pass attempts went to Owens. Everyone was baffled why Parcells didn't challenge the replacement corners. Jennings is a first-round choice, but he's only 178 pounds, and he conceded more than 40 pounds to Owens. Credit the Seahawks' coaching staff for not babying Jennings. They told him he would have to play against big, physical receivers. Coming from the University of Miami, Jennings is used to playing against elite receivers, and his numbers are pretty good this season. Hey Seahawk fans...I thought I would check in with you as we prepare for our trip to Chicago to face the #1 seed in the NFC...Da' Bears.
Packing for a road trip usually entails getting online and checking a weather report for the city which we're going to. That is not necessary tonight as it has been 28 degrees and snowing here in Seattle the past two days. You might also think we were playing this game in Seattle with all the buzz around town. The excitement for this week's game reminds me of our playoff run last year and what a thrill it was to be a part of that historic year for our franchise. You gotta love the playoffs!
Looking back to our Week 4 game against the Bears, we have learned a lot about what it will take to beat this team on the road. Although this will be our greatest challenge, I sense a great attitude this week as we prepare for a game few expect us to win. The pressure is on the Bears. I expect us

The Seahawks' leading receiver unexpectedly missed practice again Friday, just before the team boarded an afternoon flight to Chicago for Sunday's NFC divisional playoff game against the Bears. Coach Mike Holmgren said Jackson's availability will be a game-time decision.
Holmgren had said at the beginning of the week that he expected Jackson, listed as questionable with a turf toe injury on his left foot, would practice by Friday and that he was "likely" to play Sunday.
Now, Holmgren's not so sure about him - or D.J. Hackett. The emerging fourth receiver sprained his ankle during last week's win over Dallas and is listed as doubtful against the Bears (13-3).
"Those will be Sunday decisions," Holmgren said. "They're going to have to show me something (during pregame drills) that tells me they can play."
It's yet another setback in season full of injuries for the defending NFC champions.
Last Saturday was the first time this season Seattle (10-7) had all of its receivers available for a game. The Seahawks started their ninth different combination of offensive linemen against the Cowboys. They have also played without quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, last season's league MVP Shaun Alexander and tight end Jerramy Stevens for at least a month each.
"Kind of the way it's gone," Holmgren said of Jackson not practicing. "But I'm hopeful we'll have one or both (Jackson and Hackett) Sunday."
Jackson, who was leading the NFL in touchdown receptions before his injury caused him to miss the final three games of the regular season, also missed practice Wednesday and Thursday. He missed all practices last week before he ran 21 plays against Dallas.
Jackson pulled himself from that game one play into the third quarter because he said the pain had become unbearable. He had two passes come his way but no catches.
"I'm going to play as much as I can, suck the pain up as much as I can," Jackson said. "Try to give our team another weapon out there."

I think he's going to be a very solid, above average corner. He obviously needs to hit the protein shakes and the weight room in the off-season to get up to around 190ish but the guy plays the ball well and is extremely quick. We saw more and more of him in the nickel as the season progressed and I was always happy to see him out there instead of Jimmy Williams. Jennings is a sound tackler as long as he stays low and he's gonna be tough to beat deep unless it's a jump ball with a big WR. Interested to see how Chicago goes at him. Gotta think they'll go to Babineaux's side more often. I would. Again, safety play will be huge in this game and hopefully Boulware has learned some valuable lessons this year. I miss Trufant.

IMO DJAX will play because he's a gamer. But how effective will he be? Instead of pressing the issue I think they should just count him as a third WR and concentrate on getting the ball to Stevens and Branch with Engram as the reliable safety valve. In the Dallas game I think they pressed the issue with DJAX on those long routes. Let him run intermediate routes and sit down like Engram does. Chicago's secondary is too fast to take big chances throwing to a WR playing at 80 percent on deep routes. That may work against Dallas, but not against the Bears. I think letting Stevens take Urlacher up the field is a great strategy. Clear out the middle for Engram who I think will have a nice game. Also running Branch all the way across the field five yards out and letting him create would be nice. Why they haven't done more of that is beyond me. I expect some new wrinkles from the offense this week, and we'll see stuff we haven't seen all season.

Flashback to the only road win in Seahawks franchise history. Seattle was 9-7 that year, the heavily favored Dolphins were 12-4 and they watched as the Hawks controlled the ground game as the original Curt Warner ran wild. Seahawks are 1-4 all-time in playoff road games but all those games came in the 1980s. This is 2007!
