How dare they!By US standards for sure. "The people's game" and all that. They still treat sports like they belong to the community. Is it just me or are the Brits whiny #####es when it comes to ticket prices?

Do you know who else thought sports teams belonged to the community? Hitler. How dare they!By US standards for sure. "The people's game" and all that. They still treat sports like they belong to the community. Is it just me or are the Brits whiny #####es when it comes to ticket prices?

I think American fans are spineless by comparison. A lot of it comes from the size of the communities and the unity that develops from traveling to away games and being penned up in a designated supporters' section together. How dare they!By US standards for sure. Soooooo..... bad coaching maybe?I like all of those guys... and I actually like what Kone brings- especially his partnering with Lukaku. but he fades/disappears, which seems to be the MO for most of the team. and I like the team- just feel that, especially with the MF, they have a tough time consistently bossing games. if Barkley brought his ceiling every game? Mirralas too- looks world-class a third of the time, and goofy the rest. Barry is solid and consistent, but not a difference maker IMO. Baines.. forgot he's even playing this year- has he been injured? these are all guys that are definitely good enough to put Everton into Europe... but like I wrote earlier, that would be a victory. just like finishing anywhere near the bottom 3 would be a bizarre trainwreck. IMO, they finish 6-10 every year and maybe hope to sneak a run in europe or final appearance in a domestic cup. They have a lot of talent in the first XI. A top 3-5 striker in Lukaku. A very good AM in Deolefeu. A very highly rated young CB in Stones and England verteran in Jags. Baines is fading a bit (and was injured a lot), but he's still among the best LBs. Coleman is one of the best attacking RBs, if you value that stuff. They have way too much talent to be where they are in the table. Two years running. They finished 5th a few seasons ago which was hitting well above their weight. Everton isn't a top team anymore. They are a solid middle team and I expect as long as Martinez can keep them there he will stay. How does Martinez still have a job?Ramsay Hunt Experience said:TFW when Ross Barkley has one of the 5 games in a year when he looks like a superstar.![]()
they should be a bit higher than where they are now, IMO, but they're basically a 6-10 quality team. couple spots less is a bit of a disappointment, couple spots more is fantastic- I don't see anything else happening given the squad. too good to go down, not good enough to go up.
And they have decent players behind that. Barkley is inconsistent but talented. As is Mirallas. Besic is solid. Barry is solid against most teams but struggles a bit for pace. Howard is on the decline, but not the worst GK in the league. Funes Mori looks to be functional.
I suppose its a bit damning that they still play Lennon and Kone, but otherwise they're pretty good. They're not deep, though. Still, their defensive problems should have been ifixed by now.
You have to remember the long history in each community, many spanning 100+ years. Many generations in a row supporting the same club, and the club bringing the area together. For many fans, these are not just clubs and businesses, they are the back bone of the city. You live and die with your club. There is no flip flopping and band waggoning going on. You are born into your club, or you form a strong relationship very early in life. You grow up watching your heroes play, and you laugh and cry with them. This is much bigger than just something to follow on Saturday afternoons. You spend the week leading up to the game talking about it, at work, at the pub, on the bus, at home, and after the game you talk about how it went, why, and how this will affect your season.I think American fans are spineless by comparison. American fans offer some half-hearted protests, ineffective boycotts and eventual acquiescence. Meanwhile, longtime fans get pushed into the nosebleeds, prices go up, PSLs happen and teams pack up and move away like the circus.
Many of the hotbeds of English soccer are in dire financial shape. The recovery has benefitted the capital and the surrounding areas. There are some small pockets elsewhere in England where things are good but the North and Northeast have been in decline for decades relative to the rest of the "country".
It must really suck to live in Sunderland.
Blackburn? But they were pretty good already and had paid a small nation's GDP for Shearer too. What an unbelievable story. Leicesters unlikely title pursuit is the best thing to happen to the EPL since <name event>
#### offAnd if Tottenham win they move into 2nd! When was the last time two minnows topped the table this late?
(re:latter part)...says who?I got up early this morning (after staying up late to watch the awful USMNT friendly) knowing that I should have just slept in. City haven't beaten a top team all year, and have really only played one or two complete games since September. It's easy to say Leicester just seem to want it more, but City (especially once they go a goal down) just don't seem to give a crap. If they lose to Spurs next week, and I see no reason to think they won't, they'll be in a real fight to even finish top 4. And to top it all off, it's only 9:45 so way too early to drink...

He rose majestically over the dessicated corpse of Martin Dimichelis.Surely Robert Huth has given Joachim Loew some questions to answer today.

I don't know whether to like or cry.Neil Bernstein

Since Liverpool last won the league Peter Schmeichel signed for Man Utd, won it 5 times, retired, had a son & he's about to win it with LCFC
Best part of that stepover was that the defender and everybody else assumed he was going to his favoured left. Guy got destroyed....all he needed to do was fall over like Boateng v Messi to make the destruction complete.Avoiding spoilers cause I'm watching Leicester/City, but omg that Mahrez goal to open the second half. Won't get the plaudits and the internet viral video fame, but that scissors absolutely ####### undressed Dimichelis. So dirty, Cristiano-esque.
Everybody's a comedianAs a fan of the underdog, I love seeing the big teams lose or drop points.
Same goes for Liverpool too.
