As of 2015, Ronaldo had 39 knockout round goals in 55 knockout round games for his career.  This includes his Man U days, and it's actually a little better than his combined Real/ Man U goals per game in the Champions League as a whole at that time (.71 goals/g vs. .69 goals/g). 

That article was written in November 2015, which appears to be at the "split" in the group stage.  He was at 67 goals in 66 European games with Madrid at that time. We know he's played 15 games and scored 13 goals since then.  He's only scored 2 in 6 games this season in the group stage.  Which means he scored 13 in 11 games through the rest of the CL in 2015.  Seven of those games were knockout round games. 

I could probably fiddle around a bit to find more numbers, but I'd wager that his group stage goals per game is not significantly different than his knockout round goals per game with Madrid.

MLS has called a press conference today to discuss expansion.

They will not be announcing cities, instead they will be laying out a new process for bids.  They might announce the new $200 million fee.

Movie is horribly fantastic 80s sports movie!  Hot headed rookie gets suspended while his best friend and teammate gets paralyzed. So he goes looking for Santos (Pele) to get training on how to be the best.  Mario Van Peeples, Penelope Ann Miller, Turf fields in NY.  Oh man!

the book is great- matter of fact, humble (bordering on humble-brag... because... well, he's ####### pele), very easy read. 

 
Andy - did you follow the expansion draft?  Atlanta took two keepers - I'm assuming this was because they were the best asset and allowed them to trade back to the team that they drafted them from.  Is that essential it?  And if so, why did the teams make these players available - I would assume every team has a guy that they really want to get rid of and this gives them a chance at that.  For example, I was hoping somehow Fellaini was drafted by AUFC so I could meet him at the airport and nut punch him.

We largely talked about this.  Teams in reasonably good situations, like Toronto are going to have to leave some assets they like unprotected.  Toronto had to know that either Irwin or Beitashour would get picked.  But Toronto also left some young, promising players on great contracts unprotected.  When a team loses a player in the expansion draft, they get $50K of GAM as compensation.  So in this situation, where Atlanta also really like Bloom, the obvious play is to pick Irwin and then trade him back to TFC for the player they like (Bloom) and the GAM that TFC has already received for "losing" Irwin.  It's a way to get the player they liked plus a little extra.  And all it loses Toronto is the $50K they would have gotten if Bloom had been picked in the first place.

Thanks - I attempted to look for some discussion in the thread but didn't look well apparently.  That make sense - I'm assuming that they can do this negotiation when they pick?  Like - hey, we want player A but we'll take player B + the $50k if you are good with that?

It is my understanding that much of this is done before the picks are made when gentlemen agreements are made.

Every expansion draft strange things happen like this happen but they are just a way to work around the rules.

 
Started to get excited - just got a $20 voucher this week to the team store as part of the season ticket package.  I think I've got to get a scarf (if they don't give us one).

Reminder - here's the view from my seats - if any of you make it to a game this season let me know.  I won't be at all of them because I'm sharing with a buddy but I should be at most of them.

Not a season ticket holder at Bobby Dodd - went to a ton of games as a student and been to plenty of games since.  Let's be honest, our fans suck - probably includes me since I don't get season tickets but we virtually never sell out so there's always a seat to be had if I want to go.

 
Hoping Mkhitaryan is able to be back by Boxing Day - would be a big boost.  He was really playing well and starting to play off of Pogba and Ibra.

Mav - you are right, despite not getting too much criticism Rooney still stuck out as being poor among the front 4-5.  I get needing to play him during the busy season but I'd rather see him on to help close out matches rather than him out their to be a match winner.

Oh I guess I don't understand the United ticket policy then this year.  I thought more than half of the United games were going to be at Bobby Dodd stadium this year while awaiting the new stadium to finish.

Were you able to buy a ticket package that only included the new stadium games?
