I'll go to see United when they are near bye (LA or SD).  Not flying out unless its to Old Trafford.  Prices haven't been bad and the games have been exciting.

Now if we can stop with the transfer rumors and get some deals done.  These reports that x player will only be signed if Pogba is sold is asinine.  The EPL window closes before the rest of Europe.  If you wait, you can't replace him!  How about we bring in the players and then deal with Pogba.

Central Defender, Right Wing, Central Midfielder or two. Lets get a move on it.

Hard to sign someone to play in Europa League.

Could be a good year for an outsider to crack a top4 champions league spot. Chelsea loses Hazard + transfer ban, ManU possibly losing Pogba/Lukaku and were down last year anyway, Arsenal is no slam dunk. Do you guys think anyone makes a run at that 4 spot?

Icc games are too expensive for preseason friendlies with b/c teamers playing most of the minutes.

I'm only going if there's a player(s) I really want to see (for limited minutes) and/or the ticket is free.

I'm not surprised ticket sales lagged
I went to Man. City v. Dortmund at Soldier Field last year. I would have shot someone if Pulisic didn't play. Got to see Joe Hart before he was sent packing. Woo! Hoo! Pep brought Sane on  late. Otherwise, it was scrubs. I'll never go again. Even for free.

This year's ICC game was moved to that hell hole in Bridgeview.

no.

Man City and Liverpool seem like locks for top-4

I think Chelsea will be a little better than expected, despite the loss of Hazard and no transfers.  They still have a lot of younger talent.  I think they will play for Lampard.  Not a lock for top-4 but they will be in the mix.

Spurs should be in the conversation for top-4 (and will be disappointed if they miss, despite another lackluster transfer window).

Arsenal have not addressed defense this summer, but they are still good, and were narrowly beaten out for top-4 last year as all the teams stumbled home.

United may have issues with Pogba - but I think if they sell, they will be able to replace him.  With Arsenal and United having Europa League instead of Champions league, they will be better able to focus on the league, while the other contenders will have heavier rotation during the CL group stage.

Of the teams knocking at the door:

Wolves - best team an agent can put together - but playing Europa League this year, lets see how that impacts their league form

Leicester - I think they can be exciting to watch - even if they are less direct than their championship season - but can they keep Maguire?  Will Vardy stop doping show his age?

Everton - they always seem on the cusp of joining the big squads, but then they never do.  I don't see anything about them this year to suggest they are going to make the jump.

Longer Shots:

West Ham -

Watford

Bournemouth

I do think the league will be closer, and I don't think City and Liverpool will run away and hide.  But I think it would take a fairly big implosion at one of the big-6 squads for anyone else to sneak in.

I paid a ridiculous amount for me and my son to see Argentina play Panama in the Centenario a few summers ago.  As far as I know, those games were the only real competitive games Leo Messi has ever played on US soil.  The crowd was awesome. Messi came on in the 60th minute and scored three goals in 20 minutes. That was money well-spent.
I was there.  :hifive:

I think City and Liverpool WILL run away with things.

but I agree, the next four seem likely to be the same group as the rest aren't there. but it would be fun to see Wolves in particular make a run at things.

Another year and Everton quietly making good signings.  They and Wolves could make 3-8 very interesting.

I think Tottenham is 3rd with United, Chelsea and Arsenal fighting for 4th.  But Wolves and Everton will not make it easy

Still 2 weeks left in the window.  A lot can change.

@BBCSport: Everton are closing in on a deal to sign Juventus forward Moise Kean.

I like Leicester too. The Ev is still going to suck.

Everton has done a good bit of business, but they are still not deep enough to compete for top four.

So, Eric Bailly is now out 3-4 months.  Pretty sure price on Maguire has been bumped up a good bit.  United need a CB, a destroyer, I think they really should go for Koulibaly whom they were linked with in the past, but I'm sure he will not come cheap either.  I still think he is the superior option however.

It also appears that Lukaku for Dybala swap has been approved and Dybala was in England today discussing terms of his contract.  We shall see.  I hate to see Lukaku go tbh, but I'm not sure how well he was going to fit in.  It appears that Martial will again be the odd man out here.  Dybala/Rashford/Sachez could be dynamic with Pogba running the show.  However, I am also see that Bruno Fernandes may be coming to United too as soon as this week.

Reports were McGuire went from 80m to 90m as soon as the injury hit.  Although I like the looks of Tuanzbee this preseason, would be good to get an established back to pair with Lindelof and let Tuanzbee settle in as the #3 guy.  McGuire or Koulibaly or SOMEONE.  Mr Ed has to stop thinking offering 50m when they ask for 80m is going to get it done.

8 days left in the window and United and Mr Ed need to stop  :censored: ing around and get the deals done.  Lukaku for Dybala, McGuire, Bruno and I think they will compete for top 4.

Also rumors of Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic as an option for United

Martial Rashford Dybala
                  Bruno
      McTominay Pogba
Shaw Lindelof McGuire AWB
                  de Gea

Mata or Perreria as backups for the 10
James and Sanchez backups for the front 3
Dalot can support the outside backs and the wings
Greenwood, Gomes and the rest of the kids get some time

Then SELL SELL SELL some dead weight

Maguire to United deal finally done. Insane fee (seeing both 80 and 85 mil). Can't wait to see how he fits in.
He'll fit in the central defense next to Lindelof with Wan-Bissaka and Shaw.

I hope the reports are right but Ill believe it when teams announce with the picture of him holding the shirt.  Same with Dybala and Bruno.

Also now seeing the reports of United will sell Rojo and Smalling leaving Tuanzbee and Jones as the backups.  And I am good with that.

This about sums up my thoughts on United at present

@danielstorey85

Manchester United have spent two months negotiating only to pay the original asking price, when they could have had him throughout preseason. Good to get their man, but they are such a bizarre club at boardroom level.

This is so completely true that it hurts.  Woodward is a great marketing person.  Needs to get out of the football side.  I get there are some negotiations involved, and sadly a lot of agents can and do use United to inflate prices for other teams, but it shouldn't take two months to get someone like this.   A player that wants to leave their current club and join yours.

McGuire should have been in weeks ago.

Bruno should have been signed weeks ago.

Dybala should be next.

So now Lewis Dunk leaves Brighton for Leicester, which screws up my Norwich/BHA rotation in our fantasy league. Why can't they do this crap earlier? We're drafting over here morons.

This is the oddest soccer related press release I will likely see today

Following recommendations from the Tri-County Health Department and the City of Commerce City, the Colorado Rapids game with Montreal Impact on Saturday, August 3 at 7PM will go ahead as scheduled. However, it has been recommended that the post-game fireworks display be cancelled due to the confirmed presence of plague-infested fleas affecting prairie dog colonies in the surrounding areas.

COMMERCE CITY & TRI COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT - PLAGUE CONFRIMED IN PRAIRIE DOGS AT NUMEROUS COMMERCE CITY SITES

Per guidance of Tri-County Health Department, Colorado Rapids August 3 game to continue as scheduled, post-game fireworks have been cancelled, and parking surrounding stadium restricted.

Additionally, in accordance with the Tri-County Health Department’s recommendation for the safety of all attendees, parking lots at ****’S Sporting Goods Park will be restricted to asphalt lots until further notice.

At this time, the post-game fireworks display will not be rescheduled.  Our highest priority is the health and safety of our fans, staff, and local community.

We will continue to monitor the situation in the lead up to the Rapids home game with Montreal Impact on Saturday at ****’S Sporting Goods Park.

Other sites that have been affected and have been closed including:

Cristian Pavón's departure is confirmed from #Boca . He will go to Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for a loan for 18 months of $2,000,000 and a purchase option of $20 million.  Euro team came in with big offer at last minute but Pavon wants LA.

AFC Wimbledon currently tops the League 1 table by alphabetical order.  Hope it stays that way all season.

Good luck to the Dons in their season opener at Rotherham tomorrow.  A week from Tuesday, they're matched up vs mk in the first round of whatever the League Cup is called this year.

:penalty:

Pursuant to an EFL ruling Wimbledon must refer to their nemesis as MK Dons.  As the official representative on this site, I believe this ruling covers you.

Yeah Juventus played an ICC game here at the Linc last year and once Ronaldo was announced for Juve ticket prices rose big time. I was hoping to get something cheap day of on stub hub like I usually do for events but tickets raised big time. Then 3 days before the match It was announced Ronaldo wouldn't be joining Juve until like their last ICC match in Europe. I believe for a few years in the 90s Serie A had their Italian Super Cup Final played in the states. I would've paid good $$$$ for that considering you would see most of the stars. These Friendly matches are no different then NFL pre season games. I'm not paying out of my ### to see the stars play one or two series or maybe a half if that and pay full reg season price for it.

Lionel Messi is banned 3 months from Playing with Argentina and $50,000 after allegations of corruption by officials at Copa America Tournament. I guess the truth hurts a little too much sometimes.

It sucks and could be so much better. I saw Milan play the Fire in 2010. Who was on the field? Pato, Seedorf, Nesta & Ronaldinho

I finally ponied up for an add on streaming service and signed up for ESPN+ today so I can watch Leeds (Leeds Leeds) break my heart even more this year.

The NCAA and freestyle wrestling coverage is a bonus too.
