***OFFICIAL*** Sons of Anarchy Thread (1 Viewer)

I like that Jimmy Smits and Kim Dickens are slumming in SOA. I'm just waiting for when Clay's brain in a jar controls everything from the inside, setting up for when they transplant it into Jax's dome.
I like Joanie Stubbs anywhere. But she's once again managing whores for a living... she needs to be careful not to be typecast as some sort of a lesbian madame.

Now, Jimmy Smits... there's a guy whose manager needs a medal. Been in a ton of stuff and still really isn't typecast into one set role. Played a cop just as well on NYPD Blue as a pimp on SOA.
Wait, whores and pimps on SOA? When did I miss that?
Too busy watching Otto take it in the ###, I guess.
WAT. Is Joe Eszterhas moonlighting there too? John Waters in the room?

Sutter doubling down on the cringeworthy prison sex this year. :moneybag:
I always thought it weird when a guy puts his wife in front of the camera making out with someone else.

Bill Lawrence did the same thing with Scrubs
No wonder Sutter was a convincing insane man in his own show. That's because he IS insane.
Never knew he and Sagel were married. He was like 39 when he married the 50-year-old Sagal. He is insane.

I just realized that I shut this off after an hour Tuesday night after Jax called Ireland and that I missed the last 30 min. Now on demand wont let me fast forward through the first hour of the show and i have to re watch it.

Never mind - I just shut the TV off and set the timer for an hour from now.

This won't go well, but I didn't think it was that bad and it's still a far cry from the the debacle of Dexter.

The prison scene was terrible, but I thought everything else in the episode was pretty good.

The prison scene was short and not enough of a big deal to ruin the episode.

Kind of like the biggest mistake of the season (Touric) ended up being relatively short-lived. He ended by being a part of a big moment for the show, at least.

If you can overlook the "what the hell was that" moments, I think show is still decent.

Unlike superhero Dexter, the Sons generally end up paying the consequences for their choices and the noose keeps getting tighter (well, except for the stupid S4 ending).

Like Dexter though, it's going to suffer from being a ratings hit and drag on too long, but at least the story is actually moving forward.

Who the hell is reviewing Sons episodes for AVClub? I thought reviews would be Dexter-bad by now, but they gave last night's episode a C.
Why on Earth do some of you shlubs keep watching this show?

I don't like stepping in dog ####. Knowing that, Im not gonna seek out piles of dog #### to step in.
Because, unlike Dexter (which I did give up on), SOA is so easy and fun to mock.
If you didn't play out the string with Dexter then it makes sense you wouldn't know.

SOA has all sorts of problems, but it's nowhere near as bad as Dexter.

To get the weekly D with the occasional F is sacred ground. To achieve that, the entire writers room and cast has to completely give up. To give SOA Dexter-level reviews would be a slap in the face to everyone that worked so hard to spit in every Dexter viewer's face each week.

The problems Dexter and SOA have are different. Dexter devolved into a soap opera and was completely gutted of what made it a hit. SOA has ceased to become shocking and has instead become both formulaic in its shock and a complete caricature of itself.

So give me the cliff notes version of the conjugal visit. Don't feel like finding it. Why was it worse than Otto's?

Gem goes to see Clay in prison, buys her way in the door for a conjugal visit. Clay tells her the Irish want bust him out so he can run guns for them, asks Gem to see what jax thinks. Gem goes to leave. Two guards come in and make them F so that "they can see some MILF ###". They bang and the guards beat off.

It was like tarantino gone wrong.

Gemma gets publicly assaulted. AGAIN. Gemma goes to see Clay in jail, ostensibly for a legal conjugal visit. He tells her that the Irish had reached out to him, and he wants her to ask Jax what he should do about Galen's offer to make Clay arms distributor by busting him out of jail and putting him underground in Belfast. It's interesting that he's telling her about this, but we don't have much time to ponder the implications because next thing you know the crooked prison guards are demanding that Gemma have sex with Clay in front of them or else. To make their point, they start beating Clay before Gemma intervenes and begins reluctantly unbuttoning his shirt. Both guards have a kink for seeing Gemma ravage Clay Morrow's aging genitalia in front of them. The guards sit down, unzip their pants, and spank the monkey while watching.

Someone tell me what happened to Dexter?

I watched the season with Tom Hanks son and then two episodes of the following season before checking out.

PM me or spoiler tag it

:lmao:

That's ridiculous on so many levels.

If that's how you enjoy wasting your time, all the power to ya.
What else is on at 3 PM on a weekday?
Maybe you should find something else to schedule on your DVR. Something that you like maybe? But if you truly enjoy watching shows you don't like, it's none of my business. I just don't understand it.
You seem quite fascinated by what people on the internet watch on TV.
No. Just fascinated that with all of the entertainment value out there, that someone would continually watch something they don't like. Seems like a big waste of time to me. But as I said, it's none of my business. Just was curious as to why.
Which is worse:

Somebody who watches SoA because they think it is a good show.

Or

Somebody who watches SoA for the 'trainwreck' factor.

The second one. Pretty easy question to answer.

My solution to fix the show:

1) Do not show any member of the "Sons of Anarchy" again during the course of the show. Do not mention them, nor their "old ladies", nor Clay, nor any of the various hangers-on. Nor the "Irish", nor the new black gangster guy.

2) Have Smits and Dickens partner up to run a bordello. Just show that.

Seriously... that could make for a great spin-off if done correctly.

I got to admit, after last year and this years season opener...I was ready to give up. But, it's actually not that bad, they killed Filthy Phil and at times has been pretty good. Sutter does need to fix the following though:

1) They don't even bother to remotely show how it could be fun to be a biker anymore.

2) The storytelling has devolved into nothing more than Jax running around, meeting this guy or that and then either getting into trouble or getting out of trouble.....and then along the way some past cast member usually shows up with ANOTHER problem that he has to take the time to help fix or mess up further.

3) Noone honestly gives a #### about the women characters of this show. Wendy, Tara, Gemma.....there's no sympathy for their plight, they slow the story down and often end up being an easy excuse of a catalyst for ANOTHER problem or bogging down the main storyline with melodrama and the excessive use of the word "sweetheart".

I think they can fix SOA with Jax leading the charter riding into the Middle East, and start warring with some Taliban mofos. Oh and Clay in Guantanamo, and Gemma in a burka.

Agree on most counts. I think #2 is the biggest problem. Story just gets too scattered.

Though, I give a #### about Tara. I don't think they've written her story very well, and I can see why most wouldn't care.

But her storyline, right now, should be more compelling than it is. They've dropped the ball on Tara, imo. Probably because they are too scattered to write her story like it deserves.

Jax Teller is out, of 50 Shades

Said his SOA schedule, got in the way

He got cold feet, is what others say

Or perhaps it's because, he once played a gay

(twang)

Gotta stay on top, of Sutter's morality play.

When I caught up on the first few seasons and made it into this thread someone said "SOA = part biker show + part Video Game".

It was kind of right back then and it's a lot more accurate now. The developers of Grand Theft Auto could learn a thing or two from watching this show.

Haven't watched this last episode yet but last night I had a very explicit dream involving Katey Sagal. I'm not sure what that says about me.

Thankfully there were no prison guards in the dream, nor was I one of the guards.

I don't get the hate for this show. It's far from the worst show on the air. Keeps me mildly entertained.

Wish it was only an hour though. I find myself checking the clock in this hour 1/2 format to see how much longer it goes.

Didn't they go the tranny route once already? I think it was in the season with the white power guys who raped Jemma. Blackmailed some guys by getting them passed out and taking pictures with the tranny. Wasn't it the same Tranny?

And the whole "Time to go hood" while pulling out her braids made me laugh at how stupid it was.

Other than that, this season has been decentish even with all of its flaws. I do agree they need to show more of the stuff about why people would want to join this MC in the first place. Nothing that has happened this season makes me think, yah, I can see why people would want to be a part of that.

Well there you go.

My problem with SOA today is that Agent Stahl wouldn't have lived long enough to see her 6th episode with the way Sutter is writing this ####. Yet, she was involved in the first three seasons at some degree.

Sure, but it's far from as bad as this thread is making it out to be. I just wish they would switch back to the hour format.

The sitcoms that will be cancelled after two shows thank you for that.

I don't think there's "hate" as much as it's the very things you pointed out. There are some stupid and laughable parts and it has flaws. People are pointing them out.
