This episode pulled me back in a bit and I'll put up with the horrid writing and plot development. Pearlman runs circles around most of the cast and his skills were on full display last night.

The scene that made me :lmao: the most was Tig's daughter being burned. Not so much the killing but his reaction (worst acting ever?).

I like the addition of the black dude from Lost and Smits although this show has far too many characters and many need to be killed off/go away. I still find it funny the IRA would get involved with some two bit biker club from Fresno.

Poor Opie :kicksrock:
I agree. Pearlman looked frail. And I also agree about Tig. I think the guy who plays Opie is a good actor.
Opie was ruined for me when somebody (probably from Bakersfield) said Opie was the LB (strong side left) from Remember the Titans.
He was also the GI in "Saving Private Ryan" that had a German grenade go off right by his head.Ryan Hurst's dad played deputy Cletus Hogg on "Dukes of Hazzard".
 Today, you people are no longer maggots. Today, you are Marines. You're part of a brotherhood. From now on until the day you die, wherever you are, every Marine is your brother. Most of you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not come back. But always remember this: Marines die. That's what we're here for. But the Marine Corps lives forever. And that means YOU live forever.
Thanks for the cool but completely unrelated to anything being discussed quote!
It's a quote from Saving Private Ryan.
:lmao: right

Captain Miller: [Approaching the beach] Port side stick, starboard side stick, move fast and clear those murder holes.Sergeant Horvath: I wanna see plenty of beach between men. Five men is a juicy opportunity, one man's a waste of ammo.Captain Miller: Today, you people are no longer maggots. Today, you are Marines. You're part of a brotherhood. From now on until the day you die, wherever you are, every Marine is your brother. Most of you will go to Vietnam. Some of you will not come back. But always remember this: Marines die. Almost page 4? Wow. Wind has really gone out the sails of this series, I guess.

Just rewatched Tuesday's episode. One big thing: I hate Tara. I hated her before and I hate her even more now. Why? She's a hypocrite. Gemma can't be around her kids because she smells weed in her breath, and yet, Tara's picked up the grass herself. Huh?

I thought they spelled that out a little too blatantly. She's also looking pretty worn. Dunno if that's make-up and by design, or if the actress is merely aging.

Of course there's also the very subtle signs that Tara is turning into Gemma...the hair, the clothes etc. People may not have picked up on it because it was done very discreetly.

At this rate, she won't need makeup to do a cameo spot in The Walking Dead.

If Hamlet's any indicator (and Sutter has said it is) I guess we know that Clay is the instigator behind the break ins..

Hamlet Act 5, Scene 3

King Cliam sits in his solar...contemplating his recent deposing... enter Old Witch.

Cliam: Have though procured me mine Fiends; those that I shall reave fear on charming ole' Copenhagen?

Old Witch: Aye, Sire....And what a clammy lot. One has not a foot for travel.

Cliam: SILENCE! Old Witch. These fiends shall create unto the city a terror....a terror not scene since the days of yore...

Old Witch: (bows mockingly) Beg the Pardon King with No Abode.....Thine Fiends are in postion. Shall we give them the give go to harass charming ole' Copenhagen?

Cliam: Thost are a rube and a dripping ####. I did not procure these fiendish devils to merely stand in mine wake and look saucy. (bangs hand on table) I MEANS TO RUIN THE REGIN OF MINE HALF SON AND STRIKITH FEAR INTO THE HEART OF CHARMING OLE' COPENHAGEN!...(stands) I WILL BE KING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

Old Witch: Thine manliness knows no abounds. Yet your fury needs to be tempered. Would you wish to spill seed with me?

Cliam: SILENCE!!!!!!!......thost are not worthy of mine future kings! Those smell as if thost has been in the roost for a fortnight. Send thine fiends to the home and abodeth of mine wife. Let them strike fear into her....yet leave her womb unsullied. Wheneth she knows fear.....she will begeth me return....at which I will put my kingly seed in her belly....or on her back. LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WAR!!!!!!

Old Witch: As though wish Sire....(gets up to leave) Heh...heh...heh......

The acting may have left a little to be desired, but Tigs daughter scene had me cringing. I think I would rather end my life than sit there and watch that.

Yea, I felt that was really underplayed by Kim Coates. He usually nails his scenes but most of them are in line with underplaying the scene. He should have either been throwing himself against those chains or just totally broken down.

Pretty awesome opener if you ask me but boy did they open up a lot of storylines at once. Clay is going to get old, shoulda killed him off last season IMO. The Tig/daughter scene was brutal. His acting was pretty bad but the shock factor of the scene was  And I firmly believe Tig when he says he is going to cut Pope's head off. Liked it

I would be patient with Clay- I think that there is going to be a whole lot more there later. Tig was crazy before but now he has to be an ape on crack with a chainsaw kind of crazy.

Regarding Tig's daughter scene, whether you liked how he played it or not he definitely prepared for it. From an interview:

Listen, I’ve been acting a long time. When I read that scene, I can honestly say that I can’t quite remember ever having that feeling. I was scared, I was excited. I’ve never had to do anything quite like that before. One of the first things I did was I went and talked to a really good buddy of mine, Sam Alibrando, who lives across the street from me. He’s a therapist. We do this all the time with certain parts. He really helps me figure out where a person’s mind goes. Because you and I would never have been in a situation like this before. So he really broke it down. See, what I don’t like listening to is when writers go, “And then the person cries.” “Or the person does this.” It’s there [in the script], but it’s not the Bible. I wait and see what happens to me on the day. But I have to say, the way Kurt mentally had thought out Tig’s emotions during the duress of that night happened to be exactly what Sam across the street told me would probably happen to a human being.

So I’m chained up. I can’t get off the chain. I’m going to die. Then to see and feel what they were doing to my little baby in that dumpster. I want to die for her. I don’t die for her. They go ahead with it. I watch them pour gasoline on her. It was unbelievable. When Sutter wrote down after I wipe out the cop and the cleaner “He just finally breaks down,” I can’t tell you how easy that was for me, Kim, to just completely lose it. It was at the end of the night. We did it two or three times. And every time, it just was a release that I never quite felt before as an actor. I’ve gotta give it up for the props guys as well: I’ve had handcuffs on (coughs) as certain characters in a play, let’s keep it at that. And they hurt. Had those boys not figured out a rig to save my wrists, I think I would have ripped my hands right off. They found this rig of this incredible arm-looking material that we put underneath the cuffs so that I could writhe around.

The scenes between Nero and Jax is a perfect encapsulation of how great this show could be if they didn't set up so much ####### plot everywhere, have a different mega-boss to defeat at the end of every season, and let the characters take shape a little. I like this show a lot during the lighter moments. Treme it up a bit. A bit.

Anyway, decent episode. Interesting to see what Clay's up to via stealing his own safe.

I think Clay was planning for Gemma to be home and take the beatdown, not Unser. Stealing the safe was just to make it look like a home robbery was part of the plan.

That's what I gathered as well. And maybe destroying some history/evidence that Jax could get a hold of?Pearlman is a damn good actor. Smits is definitely holding his own as well - dude was bringing the lols last night.

Did anyone else notice that Smit's bad chicano accent was toned down a bunch last night. I know he is Chicano but wow that was a horrid, almost mocking accent he had going on in the first episode. He was almost a parody in the first episode.

I agree with this bud. Kind of wish i didn't check this thread because i did not connect the dots with Clay being behind the break-ins, and before that I thought they had a whole lot of options with how they could deal with Clay. I thought they could sell the idea that Clay has given in to the fact that he has lost and that he could end up going out by sacrificing himself for Jax or Opie or somebody. tougher to do if he is behind the break-ins, but still possible. At first i thought they should have killed Clay last season too, but i like that there is so many options with how he can go out now. as long as they don't involve him too much as a main piece in the story (like next week's previews lead to, with Jax, Opie and Tig all in jail. I figure 1 of those 3 were most likely to kill him), i think it will be a nice sub-plot to see how it plays out. but if they re-hash the idea of him being a major player, it may get old quick

So the significance of the 3 guys getting the marriage certificates out of the safe
I think it's just showing that probably Clay put them up to it and asked them to grab the birth certificates and other documents before ditching the safe.
There is clearly something about the documents in the safe.... though I am not sure what. What I thought was interesting is that it seems like the three new guys are in Clay's 'side'. Kind of like a crew within a crew now.

The marriage scene was a total sham. First of all a lawyer can't just get a couple a marriage license. The bride and groom have to get it themselves AND sign the license at the county clerk's office. And the document the lawyer handed Gemma wasn't a license...it was a marriage certificate. You don't get that until after the license has been filed.

Finally the judge has to sign the license himself and fill in some other information. He should have also instructed the witnesses on how and where they have to sign and fill in their names and addresses.
