I just have a question for any of you familiar with official stats.
I understand that sometimes when QB's are tackled for a loss, the play is not ruled a sack, but sometimes a "rush" by the QB. It happens all the time. I noticed it in the Indy/SD game when Manning was apparently sacked by Merriman, but instead it was ruled a -6 yard rush for Manning. Can someone clear up how these plays are determined?
Also, exactly what is and isn't a pass defensed? I imagine if a DL bats down a pass, that counts as a pass defensed. What about when a DB separates a receiver from the ball by hitting him?
Thanks.
