Hate to be that guy...but gotta question Wallace's effort. Could have gotten his feet down on that 3rd down in the end zone. Probably could have caught that low one if he had gotten on the ground.I know, i am just the fat ### on the couch, just giving my thoughts.
I'm glad someone else said it. I was beginning to think my opinion was being colored by Wallace's contract situation, but I feel like he's half-#ssing it a lot. I don't know why he'd do that, as he's got to be trying to maximize his value to potential FA suitors, but between the drops, the fumbles, and the inability to make the tough sideline catches, he's not making himself richer with his performance. Even that circus catch in the KC game was more luck than anything, had the ball not wedged between his legs, that would have been incomplete too.
Very poor effort from Wallace last night at a time when needed him to step up. But regardless of his numbers this season some team is going to open up their wallets and make him a rich man.

I'm just curious - why did the Steelers get rid of Dixon and go with Leftwich in the first place?

I still can't believe he scored on that run.

And Charlie Batch is how old now? Is Cliff Stoudt still available?

IIRC he wanted to go to a place where he'd have a chance to start. Also think his contract demands were a little much.

I agree. Still not sure if I'm "reading into things" but if I'm not the only one thinking it maybe I'm only half crazy :banned:

Funny, I didn't realize the Ravens signed Dixon to their practice squad just before last night's game:
November 13, 2012The Ravens re-signed former Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Dennis Dixon to the practice squad and cut rookie safety Omar Brown to create a spot for him.Dixon was cut earlier this month from the Ravens' practice squad.Five seasons into his NFL career, Dixon incorrectly assumed that he was no longer eligible to join a practice squad.

Yeah, and Harbaugh seemed a little "touchy" when asked about the motive. Steelers could sign him to the active roster I believe, but I'd prefer Garrard really. Dixon has no advantage considering the new offense. Garrard is more accurate I would think.

PITTSBURGH — Quarterback Charlie Batch is in line to be the Steelers’ third starter in as many games when they play the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

According to a report from ESPN.com, quarterback Byron Leftwich suffered two fractured ribs during Sunday night’s 13-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and is unlikely to play against the Browns.

Leftwich got the start -- his first since the 2009 season -- in place of Ben Roethlisberger, who remains sidelined with rib and shoulder injuries.

Doctors expect Roethlisberger to miss three weeks, but remain hopeful he could return in time for the rematch with Baltimore on Dec. 2.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported the team is expected to work out free agent quarterbacks this week.

I'm pretty upset that the coaching staff decided to keep Leftwich in there with his broken ribs, when Batch was on the sidelines. It was obvious Lefty was in pain, and from some of the throws he had, he should have been taken out.

I'd love to hear what the coaches said about it.

My guess is that Leftwich said he was okay and they felt that Batch was going to be too rusty. In retrospect they probably goofed but considering it was a short week they didn't havE the time to get one QB prepared, let alone two.

Garrard or Seneca are the only viable options IMO. Just depends on how much they cost. Sounds like Plax is in town for a physical as well.
Cost is a big thing since they can demand whatever they want and would get at least the veteran min. Not sure who else is looking for an arm right now though so they may not have a lot of leverage. As for Plax, guess that means Cotchery might be out for a while.

Re-watched the Ravens game yesterday. I want Wallace out of town as soon as we can get something in return for him. Like a pack of gum and pair of old tennis shoes. The guy is fast and that is it. Terrible hands, no sense of awareness on the field and ZERO heart or hustle. He does not deserve to call himself a Steeler with the effort he displays. So glad that we paid AB and not this slacker.

:X was just getting ready to post this:

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports via Twitter that the team will bring in former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Kafka and former New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer on Tuesday.

The Steelers contacted Dennis Dixon, who is currently on the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens, but the former Pittsburgh quarterback opted to stay on Ravens practice squad instead of working out for the Steelers.

Hey DD, GFY buddy. You'll never be a regular starter in the NFL.

Looks like they're going on the cheap and hoping Ben is back sooner rather than later. Still talk of him maybe being able to play the next Ravens game but I would be shocked. And hope that health is the top priority.

I guess Dixon's feeling's were hurt by the Steelers when he was cut. I can't think of any other reason why he would rather be on the Ravens practice squad than being on the sideline and one Charlie Batch sack away from actually playing. At this point I have no problem with signing Kafka or Hoyer -- I don't think that any of the veterans mentioned are a whole lot better.

I honestly don't care who they might get at QB, it's not going to really matter. As long as he is healthy, Batch will be more than adequate for what they will need from that position at this point. They just need someone to be somewhat of a "game manager" for a few games, and he has proven time and time again that he is effective at that. While I believe the Browns defense is every bit as good (if not better) than the Ravens this year, I think they just need a QB who won't make many mistakes and to have a dumbed down playbook available to him. Let the run game and defense win the game, or at least....try to, until Ben comes back. I know whoever they will bring in will be a backup to the backup to the backup etc.., so I hope they can find a guy who can manage a game somewhat. We don't need any heroics from him.

I think we should sign Garrard and then trade a 6th rounder to the Jags for Gabbert just so we can corner the market on Jaguars cast-off QBs. Brunell's probably still hanging around somewhere too, no?

@dlolleyor: The #Steelers have informed the league that David DeCastro will return to practice today
Whoa! A rare piece of good news! :excited:
Hell yeah ! Still very skeptical that he'll see any contact for a while or will actually play in a game this season, but every time I see him on the sideline during games, he's taking notes on something, learning, taking mental reps as they call it. I think he's going to be back with a vengeance next season, it'll be like an extra #1 pick in the 2013 draft.

Nice to have the extra body if they need it.

BTW, Batch musta been eligible for the PS. Team's official Twitter feed stated that they signed both Batch and Marshall McFadden to it today.

Found it. Looks like he gets in by the first clause.

The Practice Squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad:

*players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience

*free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s)

I think Garrard is much better. And probably better than Lefty too.
Garrard prior to injury is easily better than these other bums, but the rest are all the same to me...If Batch cant play at least a game or 2, and Ben osnt back afterwards, were Fkd

Disappointed that the Clowns scrapped their idea to try and drown out all the Terrible Towels for today's game with white flags.
