***OFFICIAL*** Steelers vs. Dolphins Game Thread (1 Viewer)

Notice Polamalu back in the safety (deep running back) position for the kneeldown. Smart. Have other teams been doing this before and I just didn't notice?

Challenge flag aside... good to see Pitts continue the streak from the SuperBowl on officiating gone awry, again in their favor....

Nice...Batch ties his career high w/ 3 TD passes. Figures....damn Miami Defense, same old no-clutch play. Between the big plays and the stoopid untimely penalties, they always seem to find a way to step on their own wick. :wall:

Yeah because the refs didn't blow an obvious interference call against Miami in the first half.

Nice win Steelers...Miami doesn't look ready to win their division let alone a SB...
I disagree, Mia looked very good untill a few bad breaks put them in horrible positions. Cpep was really the only things I would worry about from the Mia front. People are far to quick to understand and remember that with or w/o Ben, this was still the SB Champ Steelers they played really to the wire at home.

No doubt that the refs were the big difference. The 143-38 rushing yardage advantage, 10+ minute time of possession advantage, and three huge plays by the Steelers were comparatively insignificant.

Good win by the Steelers.

But if the Dolphins DB doesn't take that penalty with the Steelers inside their 10 yard line, the Dolphins win the game.

FWP had a far superior game to RB.
No, he didn't. Not in the least. Both RBs looked good to me. I was more impressed with Brown though. He had absolutly given to him by the Steelers D and his Oline. Parker looked better than last year and ran mith more decisivness and power.
:lmao:
Parker was taken down by arm tackles at least 3 times. The Steelers Oline opened far more holes. Ya ya ya, but he had a 100 yds... we know.

Don't know if you can learn a ton from 1 game, but here's what I think I know so far............

Steelers defense is still dominant. Will be a force in fantasy and you probably don't want to start your RB's against them if you have decent options.

Parker is a stud. Little concerned that he came out at the goal line but it seems that was his own doing after running on the 2 previous plays for 6 yards each. Top 5 RB with goal line carries.

Culpepper looked about how I'd expect against that D and I don't have many concerns about the injury. I had him as the #6 fantasy QB coming in and I think that's close to accurate.

Chambers is VERY much the go to guy in the red zone. Had at least 3 looks in the endzone tonight and against a DB other than Ike Taylor would have probably had at least 1 TD.

Wes Welker is a great return guy but won't contribute enough to roster unless someone gets hurt.

Marty Booker will be a good 4th or 5th WR on fantasy squads this year.

Hines Ward is still the guy in Pitt, his hamstring issue was overblown and he can play on my team anytime.

Santonio Holmes is only the 4th best WR on the Steelers and unless he improves dramatically will get little playing time this year. He made one very good catch but Nate Washington is clearly ahead of him.

Ronnie Brown is option A inside the 5..........maybe option B too. Not sure the Dolphin's O-line will let him live up to pre-season draft positions.

Targets:

Miami

Chambers-14

Booker-6

Welker-6

McMichael-4

R.Brown-3

Hagan-2

Peele-1

Pitt

Ward-7

FWP-4

N.Washington-4

C.Wilson-3

H.Miller-3

Holmes-2

V.Haynes-2

Kreider-1

That's the UNOFFICIAL tally. I've got CPEP and FWP on both of my fantasy squads, decent night, not great.

:goodposting: Without that penalty the Steelers would have faced a 3 point deficit at home with 20 minutes remaining. When's the last time a defending Super Bowl champion overcame such long odds?

Yeah, what's the saying ..."If my aunt had something, she'd be my uncle...something"Steelers were in no danger of losing that game. They even took 7 off the board themselves with the fumble on the one. So don't kidyourself.I was not impressed by Miami.

:lmao: if the queen had nuts she'd be king .. :lmao:
Have the Steelers recorded any legitimate victories in the past three seasons? 31-6 in their past 37 games, 16-2 in their past 18 road games (best sustained road streak in NFL since at least 1970) but it's all about the refs. Brilliant!

I think Steeler fans are being highly obtus if they can't admit the momentum swing that pentaly created. It was a good game and well played for the most part. Close to the end but suddenly Mia and Cpep, more particularly, had a snow ball effect hit them and things got out of control. I see a lot of folks writing off what appeared to be a very good Mia football team thru 3 quarters of play because of some mistakes in half a quarter of play. It's still only the 1st week and Mia can fix those problems. Pitt did what Champions do. They took advantage of the mistakes and nailed the coffin shut.

If Culpepper doesn't throw 2 INTs, they might win that game too. Someone might want to have covered Heath Miller too.
Z.Thomas tried but got burned pretty bad. I was waiting for Madden to point it out, but he got side tracked with the whole challenge fiasco.

Parker also juked and fought for extra yards when the defense had keyed on him plenty more than 3 times. Parker had a 29 carry game and didn't wear down.

So did Brown. As I said, both RBs looked good to me. Still, Brown seemed to run with more power and just did not go down the whole game when only one guy hit him.

Was the call at all reasonable or totally fabricated? I don't see a vast difference in Steeler games vs. other games. Most games have penalties called that influence the game. An extremely high percentage of the time those calls are legitimately made. Close calls, maybe, but not fabricated or flat out blown.

Why are people getting wrapped up in making excuses for Miami? Forget the IFs. A game is a certain time to give each team plenty of chance to win the game. No excuses are necessary.

The Steelers are a good team, fi they play to their potential they will be in the Super Bowl. The Dolphins an average team, if they play to their potential they might make the playoffs.

Is the outcome of this game suprising to anyone?

It was a legit call. Still thats a tough break for Mia. They had Pitt back on their heals and were in control of the game until that point. I'm happy the Steeler got the win, just not being blind to some of the things that impacted that outcome.

OK, then what happens if the pass interference is properly called on Cedric Wilson and the Steelers have a first down at midfield instead of punting from deep in their own end?Remember? It was earlier in the game. That PI wasn't called, the Steelers punted, it was returned to the 15 yard line and the Dolphins got a TD when they hadn't done squat on offense yet.It works both ways.

Heath Miller and the Pitt D just racked up some major fantasy points tonight.

Culpepper didn't look any good at all. Over throwing Chambers, interceptions, getting sacked he was just dreadful.

Harrington > Culpepper

Of course you don't. You're a Steeler fan.
