***Official Steelers Vs. Rams Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I figured we should fire up the stove and start talking about the game now. Why the heck not?

I'm thinking a high scoring affair between these two tonight. Maybe 34-21 or so. Steelers are the victors.

Weather won't be a factor as the game is inside.

Good luck

I'll be pulling for Holt and Hines Ward tonight.

Guessing Holt will go 5/70 and a TD. Ward 7/70 no TD.

Steelers win 27-17

I hear you. I am anxious to see what Fast Willie can do on the carpet tonight. I am thinking 120 yards and maybe a TD.

Parker and Jackson should be a nice RB duel to watch tonight.

Torry Holt (groin), Rams vs. Steelers: Holt has also had a difficult season, with nagging injuries and his quarterbacks being pounded into submission week after week. Still, he has quietly caught 83 passes for 1,055 yards and seven touchdowns. This Thursday, however, Holt is trying to overcome a groin injury while facing Pittsburgh, the third-best passing defense in the NFL -- which is liable to rack up double-digit sacks on Marc Bulger.

I copied the above post from another thread and brought it here as it is relevant info.......................

Anyone starting Santonio?

I'm getting that bad feeling I'll regret sitting him (for Driver and Galloway) and he'll get 2 long ones tonight.

I will be starting him in a PPR league. Due to three major injuries at WR, I am down to Holmes, S. Moss, Bruce, Reggie Williams, and Ginn. So I really do not have a lot of choice, however...

He's been injured and/or quiet for a while, and if he is going to bust out of that, it is going to be tonight. I think he looked good last week, even though he only had a few catches. His speed should be a big factor on the turf and I think he'll get at least one bomb. I am hoping for 4 catches for 75 yards and a TD. That would be a very solid 17 points (or 13 in most non-PPR leagues).

Dec 19 St. Louis Rams WR Torry Holt (groin) is not on the injury report for Week 16. He will start in the game.

:goodposting: Holt has been battling injuries and poor QB play all season. I think he'll tough this one out and go for at least 50 and a td.

Can't get a good read on this one. Steelers should win, but over 7 points is a bit strong for a weaker road team.

Bulger / Holt / SJax can score, but Pitt can play defense.

The game could be 34-27 or 13-0, I just cannot predict this one.

I'm actually just going to watch this one (and pull for my fantasy studs of course).

Enjoy this one.

I Hear ya. I really wonder what type of gameplan Tomlin comes out with. I have watched a handful of Steelers games this season, and to me it seems like the Steelers try to mix it up a little too much. Some weeks they are a run first team other they want to spread it out and take short patterns and other weeks they look for the bomb about every 3-4 plays. I like Tomlin, but he needs to get that unit squared away before the playoffs start. What better game than @ STL? I expect to see a Heavy dose of Parker tonight. As for STL, who knows. As a Holt guy, I hope to see him show up. However I just have a gut feeling that both Bruce and Bennett put up solid #s tonight. And Yes the Pitt D should be a great play tonight. Im saying 6 sacks minimum.

I have no fantasy players in this game, but, it should be a good one to watch. I haven't gotten to see alot of Willy Parker (on a decent field anyway), so, I'm looking forward to the game. S Jax won me a title last year, so, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for that cross eyed SOB.

I'm thinking The Steelers are going to run away with this one. They are finally going to be playing on a good surface. I have a feeling they're ready to run. How long has it been since they haven't played in mud?

Starting 3 players tonight...

Pittsburgh heats up and would love to make this a statement game - it's a confidence builder.

Pittsburgh 37 - St. Louis 17

Big Ben (3 TD's 280 yards) over McNabb

Santonio Holmes - time to get back in the flow (1 TD 82 yards)

SJax - go monster go (1 TD 76 yards, 4 receptions 37 yards)

It's a shame that at the very same time that the Rams defense starts playing well the offense gets shot to hell. If the offense can get back on track in 2008 the Rams could be a surprise team next year.

This game won't be a gimme for the Steelers. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams won. If the line could just protect Marc Bulger for one game then I think the Rams have a good chance to win the game.

bruce needs 22 yards and 8 catches to become 3rd and 6th (ithink) all time in receiving yards and catches respectively? Does Bulger favor him tonight?

I'm starting Parker with confidence (unfortunately confidence that he won't score a TD.) I'm sitting Holt in favor of Branch (against the Ravens).

Hey guys -- having a tough time making a decision here. Since this is pregame -- I'll ask:

I have Wayne and Braylon. I have Plaxico in for my WR3 -- would you start Santonio or Plax? Kind of wondering what the absence of Shockey could do to Plax.

Sorry for the WDIS but I'm down to nut crunching time in the Super Bowl of my league.

Very strongly considering benching Torry Holt for Greg Jennings. Good problem to have, I know. Will probably flip a coin at 7:55.
IMO:Jennings >>>> Holt
off topic yes, but i couldnt resist. Holt is 10 times the receiver Jennings will ever be.
I was speaking strictly from a fantasy standpoint for week 16.
gotcha. id agree with you there.

Starting Santonio with confidence.
driver in rain or snow me too starting holmes with confidencef driver he hasn't scored in 10 weeks
3 pints in I had an epiphany and will replace Driver with Santonio too.. go big or go home I say.I also have Bowe on my bench, and I just read he will be going up against the worst cover on the team. (so in other words, he might be doubled) but I just might replace Galloway for him.

Same choice for me, going with Holmes over Plax, but not with any confidence.

Giants will have some cold, windy weather. I'm close to going with Holmes.

I really think (hope) the Steelers come out of their shell tonight early and jump to big lead. I would like to see this game start a momentum run that could carry over in the playoffs...

Don't do it. With Shockey gone, Plax gets even more targets. Holmes is not where Big Ben looks first. Plax is a much bette bet.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have declared LB Andre Frazier, QB Brian St. Pierre, LB Clint Kriewaldt, OL Darnell Stapleton, RB Gary Russell, TE Jon Dekker, OT Marvel Smith, DL Ryan McBean inactive for Week 16.

I would absolutely go with Holmes over Plax. The weather reports I've seen say it's going to be rainy in Buffalo. Eli is a bum in crappy weather. Holmes is the play here.

Sorry. Here's to hoping for a Rams victory tonight. I'd love to see Bruce have a big game so he can reach some milestones. Guy's had a wonderful career.

If Steven Jackson has another big game tonight or next week or both, does he go back to being a #2 or #3 pick in FF next year? Or have people soured on him?

I don't understand NFL refs. The rule is where the BALL is, yet it seems like the only time they EVER actually give them that is when it's a matter of the goal line. The ball HIT the 29 yard line. That spot could not have been any easier. That's pathetic.
