***Official Super Bowl XLII Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Clouds are thickening and darkening. Wind kicking up a bit.

ETA: radar shows rain in the stadium area.

He sounds old too
 I think he sounds great. Petty has an old-sounding voice. Always has. You must be 18.
He sounds very unenthusiastic, not really into this. Comparable to the Stones' infamous appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show after their lyrics were censored.
Since when has petty ever seemed enthusiastic? Not his style.
If you think he sounds "great", you don't know his stuff well. This is not a "great" performance, and yes, I love Tom Petty.

Right now at least one drunk guy under the age of 30 in every bar in the US is screaming FREE BALLING

If you want to be edgy, play Last Dance or whatever the name of the song is.

oof petty looks bad... what's w/ bringing back old rock dudes now? Wouldn't like a newer, popular but non-controversial band like The Killers, My Chemical Romance, or even Green Day suffice?
No, not a chance, maybe. You have to remember the demos they are playing to. Middle class, middle age, middle of the country. If people over 40 don't know who they are, the Super Bowl does not want them.
I also don't think football or anything athletic when i think petty.

Funny. Been a huge fan for about 20 years. Stick to Timberlake.

I like how he's doing all the greatest hits. Not like the Stones, playing some crappy song no one's heard of before or since.

:lmao: I just popped open a beer. My kitten, who has been asleep for the last hour, just snapped wide awake and started sniffing around. ;)

He's FBG material alright. :goodposting:
