Terrible casting decision.Andy is a decent side character but is basically just a warmed over Michael. They needed to go wildcard: Creed, Darryl or Meredith. That would have given the show an entirely different vibe.

Honestly, I think Gabe would've been the best character. He's been killing it this season.

I feel like they really screwed up Gabe's character. I was excited when he joined the cast because I thought he was great in the movie In The Loop. But then they had him be all creppy obsessed with Erin and made him very unlikable. If they could just start over with his character arc I agree he could have been a great choice, but by the time Steve Carell left his character had become almost unwatchable. I do agree that the Lincoln thing yesterday was pretty good.

You're right, Gabe has been very good this season. The Abe Lincoln bit was hilarious.It's also been funny to see the writers return Ryan to the smarmy, self-involved little twerp he was a few seasons back when he got promoted to corporate in NYC.
 
Sadly, I've pretty much given up. Andy as boss is an epic fail. Not sure if the show as it is can survive much longer. They should have taken fewer characters and focused on them. Not saying it would happen but a spinoff of Dwight and Mose farming with some kind of story might work. Maybe the sales people having their own spin-off or better yet, just let it go. Sad.

Yep.I read somewhere that they're grooming Up All Night to be the new "flagship" show on Thursday nights. Office and 30 Rock are getting close to the end of their runs, Parks and Rec is solid but not a massive ratings hit, Community's obviously in trouble.

Up All Night is decent, but nowhere close to Office, 30 Rocks, Parks and Rec or Community. and I only find it pretty funny b/c I have new kids :shrug:

Jenna Fischer seems to have no problems with the writers making jokes about her physical appearance.

Earlier in the season there was Dwight assessing her in not a kind way, and tonight with the comparisons to Angela.

I loved Stanley's Florida outfit.

Krasinski looks sooooo bored. It's like he's barely trying. I can sort of see his point. He's done movies with Clooney and Streep, and now seems stuck on a sitcom that is starting to show its age. If this whale movie with Drew Barrymore is a hit, he'll barely be able to keep his eyes open.

 
I didn't see last nights episode yet but the last few have been really good and a little weird. I thought Andy would be a good replacement for Carell but they really ruined his character. Gabe has been a highlight and I like James Spader's role. I'd hate to see it end but it's definitely getting close.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but a Dwight spinoff is being considered.

He's been trying to get out of his contract when he heard of Carrell's departure but they won't let him. Just trust me on this one.

It's been better than I thought but nowhere close to how good it was with Carell. I chuckle once in awhile but the show really is a shell of itself without Michael Scott. It wasn't hard to see that coming. I don't blame Krasinski for being bored or wanting out. The show isn't as good as it once was and there's really nowhere to go with his character and the Jim/Pam relationship anymore. I see Mindy Kaling has a pilot on FOX for next season so maybe this will be it for "The Office?"
 
Last night's episode as a whole was pretty meh, but the prank in the hotel early on had me laughing louder than this show has had me laughing in a long time.

The prank was hilarious.Andy as the receptionist had a couple of chuckles. Erin and the corporate woman being dressed almost exactly the same way, and having the same hair color, was distracting throughout the episode.

agreed. I also liked the Jim/Stanley stuff, particularly the line about spending lots of time telling himself not to turn into him and now he's not sure if he has what it takes.

I'm glad they're planning the Shrute Farm for the spinoff. I was thinking they might be going with the current storyline for it.
 
The exchange between the little girl that punched Andy and Pam was funny.

Needs more Gabe!

Georgette from the Mary Tyler Moore Show making an appearance. Could tell that voice in an instant.
