This show has died a slow death. They need to end this. The Gettysburg trip felt like a a script they had originally written for Carrell.
Terrible casting decision.Andy is a decent side character but is basically just a warmed over Michael. They needed to go wildcard: Creed, Darryl or Meredith. That would have given the show an entirely different vibe.'Rayderr said:The Gettysburg trip felt like a a script they had originally written for Carrell.
Honestly, I think Gabe would've been the best character. He's been killing it this season.Terrible casting decision.Andy is a decent side character but is basically just a warmed over Michael. I feel like they really screwed up Gabe's character. I was excited when he joined the cast because I thought he was great in the movie In The Loop. But then they had him be all creppy obsessed with Erin and made him very unlikable. If they could just start over with his character arc I agree he could have been a great choice, but by the time Steve Carell left his character had become almost unwatchable. I do agree that the Lincoln thing yesterday was pretty good.Honestly, I think Gabe would've been the best character. You're right, Gabe has been very good this season. The Abe Lincoln bit was hilarious. It's also been funny to see the writers return Ryan to the smarmy, self-involved little twerp he was a few seasons back when he got promoted to corporate in NYC.Honestly, I think Gabe would've been the best character. He's been killing it this season.
True, but dramas, sports, news, game and educational shows are not exactly known for their humor in the first place.'Tiger Fan said:Still funnier than a lot of shows
Yep.I read somewhere that they're grooming Up All Night to be the new "flagship" show on Thursday nights. Office and 30 Rock are getting close to the end of their runs, Parks and Rec is solid but not a massive ratings hit, Community's obviously in trouble.Time to put it down.
Up All Night is decent, but nowhere close to Office, 30 Rocks, Parks and Rec or Community. and I only find it pretty funny b/c I have new kidsYep.I read somewhere that they're grooming Up All Night to be the new "flagship" show on Thursday nights. Yeah, I liked it too.I thought last night's episode was great. Terribly uncomfortable in the good Office sort of way.

Forcing Gabe into that scene was ridiculous. Trvia was ok. Sadly, you could see most of the jokes coming a mile away.Kevin with the candy bar, "Oh, yeah."The trivia game was pretty good, but the Dwight visit to corporate was brutal. Unfunny, and pointless.
He's been trying to get out of his contract when he heard of Carrell's departure but they won't let him. Just trust me on this one.Jenna Fischer seems to have no problems with the writers making jokes about her physical appearance.
Earlier in the season there was Dwight assessing her in not a kind way, and tonight with the comparisons to Angela.
I loved Stanley's Florida outfit.
Krasinski looks sooooo bored. It's like he's barely trying. I can sort of see his point. He's done movies with Clooney and Streep, and now seems stuck on a sitcom that is starting to show its age. If this whale movie with Drew Barrymore is a hit, he'll barely be able to keep his eyes open.
It's been better than I thought but nowhere close to how good it was with Carell. I chuckle once in awhile but the show really is a shell of itself without Michael Scott. It wasn't hard to see that coming. I don't blame Krasinski for being bored or wanting out. The show isn't as good as it once was and there's really nowhere to go with his character and the Jim/Pam relationship anymore. I see Mindy Kaling has a pilot on FOX for next season so maybe this will be it for "The Office?"I think they've done a good job given the fact that they lost a star.
The prank was hilarious.Andy as the receptionist had a couple of chuckles. Erin and the corporate woman being dressed almost exactly the same way, and having the same hair color, was distracting throughout the episode.Last night's episode as a whole was pretty meh, but the prank in the hotel early on had me laughing louder than this show has had me laughing in a long time.
agreed. I also liked the Jim/Stanley stuff, particularly the line about spending lots of time telling himself not to turn into him and now he's not sure if he has what it takes.Last night's episode as a whole was pretty meh, but the prank in the hotel early on had me laughing louder than this show has had me laughing in a long time.
It was pretty good, but I think I liked last week's better.Best episode in a long time tonight.
agreed. pretty funny for once.Best episode in a long time tonight.
The former "Boston Legal" star will not return for a ninth season of the still highly-rated NBC comedy. In another shake-up at NBC’s long-running comedy, the Boston Legal actor has opted not to be part of the series’ ninth season, assuming one is ordered, NBC confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.Spader has offered the series a dose of star power since veteran star Steve Carell (Michael Scott) exited the series. In the months since, Spader has replaced Kathy Bates’ character as the fictional company's new chief executive, Robert California. To hear Office executive producer Paul Lieberstein tell it, Spader already has contributed far more to the series than he had planned. The actor had signed to play a two-scene role in the season-seven finale, but the “life and intrigue” that he brought to the part made two scenes become a full season."James always wanted this to be a one-year arc, and he now leaves us having created one of the most enigmatic and dynamic characters in television,” adds Lieberstein, who plays Toby Flenderson on the show. “He’s been a great friend to me and the show, helping us successfully transition into the post-Michael Scott years, and I’m grateful for that.”The news of Spader's exit comes as other members of The Office's staff — on-camera and off — are toying with departure. Head writer Daniel Chun inked an overall deal with rival ABC Studios in late February, mere weeks after his fellow Office writer and star Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) had her comedy project ordered to pilot at Fox. If the latter is picked up to series, Kaling, whose Universal Television deal expires in June, is expected to depart the Office and focus on the new show.Although sources have downplayed its likelihood in recent weeks, NBC is also said to be eyeing a potential midseason spin-off centered on Rainn Wilson’s quirky Dwight Schrute character. The idea, which Wilson has since confirmed, is to further explore the Schrute family farm, with multiple generations of Schrutes involved. If the network opts to move forward with it, Wilson, too, likely will pack his bags.
I'm glad they're planning the Shrute Farm for the spinoff. I was thinking they might be going with the current storyline for it.Although sources have downplayed its likelihood in recent weeks, NBC is also said to be eyeing a potential midseason spin-off centered on Rainn Wilson’s quirky Dwight Schrute character. I thought Jim's line about being Chuck was amusing, but the whole retail store storyline hasn't been very good.Other than creed I thought last night stunk. Big letdown after the last few weeks
