**Official** "The Office" Thread (2 Viewers)

NBC just announced it will not be picking up the Dwight Shrute-centered spinoff series "The Farm". Rainn Wilson just tweeted the news. The series finale this year will be the official end for all the characters.

Eh, probably for the best.
From what I've read of the storyline, it's definitely for the best.

Mose was hilarious, but that's partially due to the scarcity of his on-screen time. Kind of like Creed: small doses made the character funnier.

Don't think Mose was going to be in it anyway. Guy that plays Mose was signed on for another project.

"New Jim" and the receptionist. Déjà vu.
It's totally different. Jim liked the receptionist, but she was dating someone else at the company.New Jim likes the receptionist and she's dating someone else at the company.

The last couple of weeks have actually been pretty good. Hopefully, this continues so that the show goes out on a high note.

Loved the scenes with Angela & Oscar this week. And it has really made a difference that they've made Nellie (the Brit) so much more likeable lately.

Another one tonight that I enjoyed. The down side of this is now I'm going to miss it when it's gone.

The best part of the episode was when I realized Creed was wearing bright green crocs and sweatpants with his jacket and tie.

Oh, and his *thinking* line.

"well, we've had this documentary crew following us around for the past 9 years, but I don't see them now, so I think we're safe."

They really should revive Petticoat Junction, but have it peopled entirely with retired rural TV characters. Dwight, Radar, the Darrells, Jethro and three hot chicks sounds like mustsee TV to me.

So Steve Carell said he isn't returning to The Office for the finale based on his character arch being over. I understand but still a little saddened by that. I think even if he doesn't come back to the actual Office it would be a nice little reveal to watch him watching his Office friends on the documentary show, keeping in touch through the television show that was "finally" produced.

Seriously.

It was kind of neat to "meet" someone from the documentary crew.
I thought it was the absolute worst part of the series. Might have been "neat" if they didnt create a terrible, dramatic storyline that's gonna drag out all season only to have Pam realize she wants to be with Jim.

I thought it was a good moment for it. The show's obviously not what it once was, but I'm fine playing out the string for Jim and Pam. I don't really hate New Jim and Pam either. I'm not terribly invested, but I've always really liked Erin. Plus, it's always a reminder of the move that saved this season (Andy leaving).

Cool. Tell me how to end the show then to give it a fitting conclusion. In my opinion, Carell was the show, and a finale without him wouldn't be as good but his goodbye was very well done so I wouldn't want him to actually go back to The Office.

I think he was giving the  for Carrell not making an appearance on the finale.

i should think anyone who's continued to follow The Office til now would have a much deeper disappointment threshold than that....

The show is still entertaining for the most part. It is still one of my top 3 shows I look forward to seeing every week.

wish i could say the same - its become progressively unwatchable since Carrell & i miss it. tuned in for the beginning the last couple wks (since they've had P&R following 30 Rock again) but didnt made it past the credits either time.

I still enjoy it but it seems to me they don't know where to take it. After Steve left they thought Andy could replace him. When that wasn't working they went back to the guy in love with the receptionist. That wasn't going so well so they tried the separate Pam and Jim. They tried and failed with new ideas so they are rehashing stuff that "worked" the first time around.Jim hinted to it he was planning on taking everyone in the office even Dwight. I wonder if that's Athlead will be a spin off with some of the same characters.

Not likely. NBC already passed on The Farm (spinoff based on Dwight's beet farm) and John Krasinski wants to do more movies.

I'm pretty sure Jim was just saying that to get under Dwight's skin. Jim's holy grail prank could've had a much better payoff, but it's like they just didn't care.
