***Official Thread for The Last Of Us for PS3 and now PS4*** (3 Viewers)

Just got to Pittsburgh and the dudes tried to bumrush us. Put them down and saved my game.

I agree with the earlier post that this is a great 2 hr/night type game. Really enjoying it.

I'm not sure if this is right or not, but I used my points towards 1) boosting hearing, 2) boosting health and 3) boosting hearing. Going to save some up now and use them when I find the sniper rifle, which is probably better than the hunting rifle.

Great game, finished in 18 hours and change. Finished with 70% accuracy which surprised me because I suck at FPS on consoles. I did usually wait until I'm right up on someone and used the scopes heavily. I'm not sure that I'll do another run through as I was mainly in it for the story line, and I don't want to sink that much more time in to it.

One gripe, and I know it's not a big deal for a lot of people, I wish there was a language filter (even if it is just bleeping it out like in the movies). I know it knocks the gritty realism down, but that was too much for my taste.

Probably depends on your playing style. I was rarely low on health, would usually die in a one hit attack by a clicker, so the health boost was not as big a deal. I increased hearing the first 2 times, then reduced weapon sway. Upgraded max health after that. I think increased crafting or healing is really a waste, I never hit one encounter where I died because it was taking to long to heal or craft.

Also, with the tools, get the extra holsters ASAP. The upgraded hunting rifle was my go to weapon even at the end of the game.

I'm 17 hours in and 58% completion. I just got out of Pittsburgh and almost at the radio tower. This game is making me out of shape cause I want to skip my workouts to play it

DLC is released now. Just read one review... adds on 2-3 hours of gameplay at a cost of $15. Seems steep even though the game is the best game in a long time.

Any takers?

15 on top of 70 I put down to preorder? Nope. There are other ways to see the content. I liked the game (alot) btw. It beat Bioshock, and SM3DW, and dishonored on my backlog in 2013 which were all great. This DLC and after-release content for the most part is bs. The last one that I saw as worth while was the borderlands 2 Attack on Tiny Tina's Keep. That added... well ... another more evocative game to everyone who knew the characters.

The DLC is all over YouTube but...

Looks like Ellen Page has more to "sue" about or possibly complain about or possibly a reason why she came out now. If Ellie is her or whatever... well, in the DLC, Ellie kisses her friend and she likes it. So, Ellie has a little curiousity in her.

So, is this going to happen? Continue the story from where it left off or just play the game via movie? I think they should continue the story from where it left off if they make this.

Why not have Ellen Page play the role? It'd be a tounge-in-cheek thought. Or, why not Ashley Johnson? This movie could be good. I'd almost buy a PS4 with the new one but I'm not into gaming that much and my PS3 works just fine.

It's being condensed down to a 2 hour story, but it's the same story. I would assume the reason why it wouldn't be Ellen Page is because she's twice Ellie's age.
I know but Page could look ~20 or so but still Ellie is much younger. I don't think redoing the story is a good way to go, if true. It would make people buy and play the game if they knew the story is kicking off from the end of the game. Does anyone want to watch real people play out the game they spent 20 hours playing, which was acted by real people digitized, in a two hour span? Come on... expand the story Sony.

Im not going to rain on everyone's parade but I was disappointed. It was pretty depressing storywise and while the gameplay was solid, the ending was abrupt and without challenge.

I give it a 7/10 but probably wont play it again.

Those of us that have finished or have gotten this far... how did you do at the end of winter? You know what I mean.

About the ending:

I thought it could have been "better", possibly more "closure." Not let down with it cause the ride getting there was spectacular but it was a little underwhelming, I guess.
I'm not sure why but I felt like Joel was going to have to sacrifice himself to save Ellie at some point to help to exorcise the demons of losing his daughter but I get that Joel's death would prevent sequels. I guess telling such a large lie to Ellie was a pretty big sacrifice as if she ever discovered that he lied that their relationship would likely be damaged irreparably. I have a feeling that a subsequent playthrough might yield more depth to the game as well.
The whole hospital thing was quite different from games I have played but she was kind of unconscious through that part. The story, to me, could have used more of an ending. However, and I'm not saying they will make a sequel, but furthering the story in any way would be good to me. Not sure if comics will be their medium or what though. I started going through again, only an hour or so, and I don't have my weapons but I have my abilities. I will say this though, the game does not feel the same if you skip the movie parts. But, maybe that is just me right now.
I liked the ending a lot -- I thought it was perfect. Joel is not a good person. I started my second playthrough last night, and you can see this from the very beginning. For instance. he's the one who insists on not helping the family with the little kid during the prologue, and he comes just this far from telling Tommy to run people over in his truck when they're driving against pedestrian traffic. One thing that the story makes clear is that you take a guy like that, who's basically just a jerk in "ordinary" society, you let him spend 20 years trying to survive in a dog-eat-dog wasteland, and he degenerates into a monster who tortures people without a second thought, kills people for little or no reason, etc. In the end, Joel betrays Ellie, Tess, the Fireflies, and the rest of humanity because of his own selfishness. That was a fantastic ending that almost exactly mirrors the ending to The Godfather (Joel and Michael Corleone have similar character arcs in that they start off as okay guys with a minor flaw and by the end they're just evil).

It was refreshing to see ND upend some of the clichés that you expect to see in games like this. For example, when we were a few hours into the game, all of us thought that the Fireflies would end up being just as bad as the leaders of the QZ, right? That's what Fallout and other games have conditioned us to expect: the faction that declares itself the friend of the people turns out to be as bad or worse than the scumbags they're fighting against. Instead it turned out that they actually were "good guys" all along. Our character was the bad guy.

Naughty Dog has already said that if they make a sequel to this, it won't feature Joel and Ellie. Their story is over, and there's really nothing left to do with it.
For those thinking about reading this, the spoilers are about the very end of the game, which is really Spring, not Winter. Don't start reading these until you're done with the game.

How could you possibly see the fireflies as the good guys? Joel is no saint but he grew attached to a little girl over the course of a year and half and was expected to just let them dissect her in the off chance they may find a cure? That makes him a bad guy? Or selfish? I dont think so. One of my many gripes with the end.

Wow cant believe i repurchased this :bag: . Excited to play again. For those interested, gamestop is doing a sale this week only, trade in your ps3 copy and get the ps4 copy for $25.

Started this run on Hard with listen mode disabled. No issues so far. This is one of those games where your first playthrough is the hardest by far; it's no so bad when you know what to expect. I just finished:

the area in the subway where there are a bunch of clickers, a couple of runners, and a safe.
That took me a couple of tries because I was trying to clear it with just one molotov, which required a fair amount of sneaking around. I'll start the next part tomorrow.

What should I be upgrading first? I've just been upgrading everything evenly. I have also been using every weapon because I run out so quickly. I now have the bow, shotgun, rifle, 9MM, and revolver.

I found the shotgun was the most useful gun when #### hits the fan so I upgraded that first.

Just started playing the game on PS4. About an hour and a half in, have never experienced a game like this. I usually hate cinematics in games, but the story is so well written I cant wait to see what happens next. The hand to hand combat is the most realistic looking punching and head smashing in any game. The scarcity of bullets really makes the stealth a core component in the game. So glad I can get to experience this game on the PS4 at 60FPS

Gamestop is just terrible. I brought in a PS3 copy that I bought about a month ago from amazon but hadn't gotten around to playing yet. It still had the plastic wrapper on it. I see the gamestop guy as I'm walking in the store with the game in my hand, make eye contact, and he asks me if he can help me. I tell him I want to trade in for the PS4 version but he says he can't do it because of the plastic wrapper. I say no problem, I'll take the plastic wrapper off. But no, store policy is no trade ins on games with a plastic wrapper on it. I ask him why because I was unfamiliar with this and he said it was because of theft issues. So I tell him that I didn't steal the game. He believes me, he reassures me, but it's store policy. I remind him about how I just walked into the store seconds ago and he saw me entering with the game in my hand and that there's no possible way I could have stolen the game. Store policy he says. But I can come in tomorrow when there will be someone else there that wasn't aware of my serious infraction and do the trade in then. Idiots.

Go today to a different one. They did this to me once and I was baffled by it as well.

I know I could do that. But I'm supposed to inconvenience myself and drive across town because someone who works there can't use 2 brain cells?

Has anyone replayed it a second time?

This is one of my favorite games ever, but I can't muster the interest to replay it for some reason.
