***Official*** Thursday Night Football Gamethread (1 Viewer)

I'm not complaining about Driver's night, but...

Just 1 more yard is the difference between 18 points and 25 points. Ugh! ...and I'm not going to get it.

I don't know if this is a realistic possibility, but if the Packers can sign Gonzo in the offseason, that would be incredible. Drafting a receiver would be nice too; I've seen Ginn listed a bit, but I would rather have someone who seems more sure-handed like Jarrett.

I know they've been around for a few weeks, but who looked at the new referee pants and said..."Those are nice, that's the look we want"?

Just wondering.

Man in the yellow hat said:
Please cut Franks. Please. Unreal. I just want to vomit right now, and it ain't from bad Leinie's.
:lmao: You have to be from WI...no one else would willingly drink Leinie's

I just got home from the game...

I'm a little out of it after a long day and a 3+ hour drive through drizzle/sleet and fog, but here goes with a few thoughts from the game.

I haven't read through this thread, but I'm guessing there is a lot of hate and bad talk about Franks. He sure had a rough game.

The Packer's D has really played well these past two games. I suppose it helps playing arguably the worst team in the league, and one of the worst offenses in the league with rookie starter, but they won these past two games for Green Bay. I haven't looked at the official stats from tonights game yet, but I'm betting Minny's look as bad as what I'm thinking. They couldn't get anything going, and when you thought they would a penalty would end it.

As a registered Favre supporter this will be tough to say, but he did show his age out there tonight. He missed a couple of wide open guys that could have really helped. All these games have really taking their toll on him, and just watching him walk on and off the field tonight was kind of sad at times. A short week is never easy, but he looked tired.

Besides the two picks, Favre did have some nice throws and did well keeping drives alive until they got in the red zone. That red zone O needs some work. Some bad play calling, a few penalties, and missed FGs really hurt. Green Bay should have won this game by 14 or more.

I almost felt like the Packers had a better chance of scoring when on defense tonight.

Woodson needs to make some quicker decision on punt returns. Or maybe he just doesn't have that burst. There was one return where he had a huge hole to daylight but just couldn't get through quick enough.

That's all for now. I know I'm missing a few things I wanted to talk about but im  and out.

g'nite

I now see why Childress didn't call plays in Philly.Pathetic.
:hot:     If I'm Wilf I'm walking up to Childress right now saying:"Two choices, Hire a real Offensive Coordinator or find a new job"and while he is at it tell the defensive coordinator:"Nice job on the Rush Defense but you just might want to work on that pass defense"How many receivers have been open in the middle of the field the last two weeks alone? 20?? Embarrassing :bag:

I am impressed with Jackson. I think with time he could develop into a solid QB
If you could please elaborate, I can only see the stats. Thanks
He had a couple real nice deep throws. One to Williamson could have been thrown a little better to lead him, but Williamson HAS to make that correction and come back to the ball. The other Very nice throw was to Taylor but of course called back due to a penalty.. What's new with the Vikings this year :bag: I would have liked to have seen him run a little more and when he did run he tried to make too many moves instead of just running. Considering this was his first start, in Green Bay, in crappy conditions and in the national spotlight I'll give him a C to a C-.One more start at home vs. the Rams should gives us a better feeling of what we have for next year. And this may come off as :bag: but I'm hoping he looks good but they still lose.. 6-10 should give us a very good draft pick.. 7-9 puts us in the middle of the pack yet again. :goodposting:

What the heck happened to Jennings? He looked like the making of an all pro in the 1st half and now he looks like a practice team player. At least one of those picks was on him, he dropped a couple balls. Horrible. This team has Driver and that's it to catch the ball, everyone else is REALLY horrible. It's a joke.

It was interesting on the two picks. The first one Favre certainly thought Jennings would "sit" on the route. On the 2nd one Jennings "Sat" on the route and Favre went deep.Definitely not on the same page.

Agreed but this isn't the 3rd game of the season you'd think that they'd have most of those kinks worked out by now. He is just a rook but I guess the expectations are higher than they should be based on how well he adjusted and how comfortable he looked in the 1st half of the season. After that they put the ball in Favre's pocket and he barely threw another pass the rest of the game (except on 3rd downs) even when their 1st/2nd down runs were going for negative yards. Just an awful game all around. The only thing of interest was how well the GB defense played but that was probably due mostly to Jackson's 1st start and terrible play calling.

   :o :goodposting: If I'm Wilf I'm walking up to Childress right now saying:

I've been saying this for a month now. THE, and I mean THE, biggest problem with the Minnesota offense is not talent. It's scheme. Although I give the benefit of the doubt a little bit as that is easily the worst WR corps in the league. Not only can they not catch the ball, they can't get open either through separation or route running. Horrible, just horrible.

and while he is at it tell the defensive coordinator:

"Nice job on the Rush Defense but you just might want to work on that pass defense"

The pass rush died when James got hurt. And Greenway would have helped in coverage.I am encouraged by Jackson, though. He made pretty good decisions and is obviously physically gifted.

In my fantasy land, in this coming offseason the Vikings sign Tony Gonzales and trade up for Calvin Johnson.

A man can dream, can't he?

Here's the headline from SI.com.

Favre adds to legacy, rallies Packers to win

I didn't see the game, but based on this thread it sounds like this game did nothing but tarnish Favre's legacy.

He lead some good drives to get them into scoring positions, but I would substitute Favre for Green Bay Defense. They were the real winners of last night's game IMO.I saw a similar headline on CBS. His 285 yards helped, but the defense won this game.

Note to Vikings fans:

PLEASE GET SOME NEW JERSEYS!

Over half of the Vikings jerseys I saw last night were either Moss or Culpeppers ones. It's not like they were the $100 official ones either. Most were the Walmart Logo 7 cheapos and the numbers were nearly worn off. Is it that hard to go purchase a new $20 jersey from Walmart?

My favorite was the home made Jackson #7 jersey. I think someone's kid made it in art class.

After Moss and Culpepper, the 3rd most popular one I saw was Sharper. I have no beef with that. Good choice, especially when going to Lambeau.

The 4th most popular were Jerseys with their own last names on the back. Not my style, but they are better than the Moss ones I guess.

Classic moment from the stands in last night's game:

I saw a Vikings fan take a swing at a Packer fan, but completely missed the guy he was swinging at, lost his balance and slipped face first into a guard rail. Not only did this guys face get smashed, the cops jumped on him quickly and threw his ### out. Tough night for him.

Other than him, Vikings fans are pretty classy at Lambeau and took the game well. Better than I could have. I almost felt bad for them. Almost.

The endzone cheeseheads dousing Smoot & Co. with beer brought a tear to my eye, especially knowing how valuable that stuff is to those guys. Nice to see them step up and sacrifice for the team.

Well, you see, there's two problems...1) The new jerseys are "u-g-l-y they ain't got no alibi, they UGLY!" I tried to like them, and the purple uni's look better than the road whites, but really, they're horrible. It's like wearing a Salvador Dali or Pablo Picasso painting.2) The team is COMPLETELY DEVOID of star power. Who's jersey are we supposed to buy? a) Williamson? I'd be afraid to carry my children or the groceries in from the car.b) Brad Johnson or Darren Sharper? Does it come with a complementary walker?c) Greenway? Yeah, a guy that got hurt in the 1st preseason game.d) Fred "Love Boat" Smoot? The only one worth having and the one I really do want is Antoine Winfield.

:lmao: That was pretty funny. I was sitting on the Packer's side of the north corner endzone/5 yard line, and we could easily see the wave of beer flying through the air.

Bad move by Smoot to jump into the stands. If the beer goes flying at a Viking dome game it's a "classless act". But in Green Bay it's just the norm? :pokey: (Gotta get them in, what else do I have to do with this crappy team?? ;) )

Good points.I did see two rather large gentlemen together wearing #93 and #94 jerseys. I liked that. If they were black I might have believed they were the real Williams.
