*** Official: Travis Henry Updates ONLY Thread *** (1 Viewer)

Adam Schefter just had the following update on tonight's NFL Total Access:*** Henry practiced today and looks to be a go to START this weekend
I really think we've reached a point where it's a foregone conclusion that Henry will start. It's now a question of will he resume his workload of the first three weeks (62% of the RB carries overall and as many as 82% in at least one game) or will Young get more carries either based on what Shanahan has seen from him, any concerns about Henry's health or both.

Overall good job keeping this all about the news.I suspect TOMORROW will be the real test - how his knee held up afer a day of practice will determine if the team decides to play him Sunday. That said, this is the same guy who played 10 games on a broken leg. Practicing three days before a game is usually an indication that the player has at least a 50-50 chance to go.
John Clayton and Adam Shefter have both said Henry will play. Shefter is money when it comes to Broncos' info.
:goodposting:I don't think either report contradicts what I said (which was that a player practicing three days before the game has at least a 50-50 shot at playing and that tomorrow is the real test).
It wasn't. I was just trying to add more info to the thread. Jason posted about Shefter at the same time. ;)

True.

Any guesses on your part? In the first three games, Young was a complete non-factor in terms of carries. Will Shanahan run Henry into the ground this week given the importance of the game? My gut says he will. It's clear from last week he doesn't trust Cutler enough to put the game in his hands and without Walker there is a tremendous amount of pressure on the offense. Henry is the one proven aspect Shanahan has right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 25-30 carries with Young 2-3 and maybe Sapp getting a couple and that's about it.

Adam Schefter just had the following update on tonight's NFL Total Access:*** Henry practiced today and looks to be a go to START this weekend*** The league has not officially suspended Henry yet, and even if they do, Henry would have 5 days to appeal and then almost certainly be granted a hearing*** Schefter estimates it would be three to four weeks from now before Henry would serve a suspension if, in fact, he has to miss time
Thanks Jason, good stuff.

What a wacky week for this guy. Wildest week since the TO overdose thing last year.

With Shannie at the helm? Nothing that will help owners decide this. If Henry is healthy enough to run, he will be given the full load as long as he produces. If he lacks production, Shannie will go a different way. I wish I could give a better "guess" than that - the only thing I can tell you is how Shannie coaches his RBs.

He doesn't give a rat's [insert bad word for buttocks here] about his RBs' health once the game starts. He will run them until the wheels fall off if they are producing. If the starter's production stinks. He will then switch for entire series - not just individual plays or for the rest of the game. He does that to see if the starter can get back on track after a breather or after a change of pace.

Agreed. I'm curious as to whether he's impressed enough with Young to get him 5-10 touches as a change-of-pace. Without Walker, the offense has had major issues. They need another playmaker to go with Henry and Marshall. Stokley isn't the answer. He's a No. 3 who excels best when two strong WRs are on the field with him and defenses can't focus on him. The TEs aren't the answer. They've pretty much been MIA. I think this is going to be a very interesting game because the Broncos absolutely have to win. I don't think they can afford to go into the bye with a three-game losing streak, including two in a row at home and all three in the conference. Shanahan's gonna have to come up with some ways to get the offense in gear without Walker. I expect a heavy dose of Henry as I said but what else are they going to do then? If the Chargers run on them all day as most expect the Broncos will need to have some answers. Should be a very interesting game.

Fresh from the wires:

Proclaiming himself sufficiently recovered from the knee and ankle injuries that kept him out of practice for much of the week, Broncos tailback Travis Henry, who is facing a one-year ban from the league for a repeat violation of the substance abuse policy, said Friday that he intends to play in Sunday's game against the Chargers.

"I'm going to play Sunday," Henry said after Friday's practice, the only session in which he participated all week.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan also said that, barring any physical setback, Henry will be in the lineup against San Diego.

From an Associated Press article located on nfl.com Broncos' Henry optimistic he will play Sunday:

Mike Shanahan:

Shanahan said Henry dropped by his house Thursday night and they chatted about the incident for around an hour. But he couldn't go into details about the conversation per NFL policy.

"Obviously, this is a very touchy situation," Shanahan said. "I can't go into as much detail as I'd like to. Let's let the due process take care of itself and I can explain the conversation I had and I can shoot you guys straight."

(snip)

Shanahan wouldn't comment on his level of disappointment with the situation.

"If I did say I was disappointed, it would kind of give you an idea of what I was thinking," Shanahan said. "One (day) I can explain it in more detail. Now is not the time.

"I'm not allowed to do that. Not to go a different direction, I want to tell you the truth, but if I can't tell you the truth about my conversation, why would I get into detail about it?"
Javon Walker:
Walker stuck up for Henry on Friday and cautioned about reading too much into the situation. "Nobody really knows the extent of it," Walker said. "We all trust Travis. Everybody on this team supports Travis. It's funny how a lot of things get blown out of proportion before everybody really knows what happens. He'll be with us the whole year. We're going to try to finish this thing strong."

Walker thought Henry would be vindicated in the end.

"We already know what the situation is," Walker said. "That will get put out at a later day and everybody will understand."

Is there any insight here, or just coach-and-WR-speak?

Does Javon Walker know something that we don't?
I imagine that Walker knows a lot of things that we don't. The question is as to the accuracy of that information. There are too many examples of people mis-interpreting rules for us to jump to any conclusions here. The team should stick up for the player and put the best face forward. This does not appear to be a straight forward situation though. Every news organization is trying to break the news while hedging their bets. The bottom line is you don't drop a productive player based on rumor and inuendo, but it's worth a shot if you have the play.

If you do a poll at most prisons you will learn that 90% of the inmates are innocent. T.Henry is playing the....I'm innocent card. "I didn't do it coach, I'm innocent." I have no doubt that Henry smoked a little reefer, the question is will he be able to get out of this due to a loophole. The Loophole being representation present for the "B" sample. Anyone that impregnates 9 different women that he has no intention of being with is either very stupid or very egotistical.

Maybe Henry ate a poppy-seed muffin for lunch that day.
Or bagel
That wouldn't show up as marijuana though.. Poppy seeds would show up as opium which is a different type of drug. Though I'm not sure if this has any relevance on the thread.
It would if a second test then indicated he was in menopause and had osteoporosis. Now, after that little Seinfeld hijack, I think we will know a lot more after today. This will be a HUGE subject of conversation today and I'd expect Mr. Sceffter to weigh in.
