Bongino clearly is the most serious about putting out a lot of posts, anything from promoting his podcast, promoting his book or simply stating the date and proclaiming that "Biden is the worst president in US history." Looks like he does that last thing everyday. Travis Tritt posts quite a bit. Mostly about his detest of the CDC and Fauci and the bold claim "I know that anything that George Soros is for, I am against. It is as simple as that for me." 

Hot Chicks Golfing is doing the Lord's Work early. Lots of positive content that crosses the aisle.

Kyle Rittenhouse posted 10 things pretty quickly and hasn't posted in over a week. Talk of suing LeBron James and his new foundation The Media Accountability Project, who is also on TS and posts a meme of Joy Behar washing a car with Kyle standing over her telling her she missed a spot and her responding "Yes Mr. Rittenhouse."

About a half dozen people followed me immediately. All of them with posts about refollowing, reTruthing and getting about the Trump Train. This honestly is the worst echo chamber imaginable. It's like the worst of the Facebook posters and Twitter posters had babies and didn't teach them out to properly crop a meme. And everything is a meme. They use memes like some people in here use emojis. Often and unnecessary. 

I can't see this going anywhere. The rage and anger is there in the posts, but no one is going to push back, and it's going to get boring. You can only high five each other so much. The most popular posters average just a few hundred likes on most posts. It takes a specifically hateful meme to get up near 4000.

Let me know if you have any specific people you are curious about. Will see who stays more interested in TS, me or Trump.

I'm sure Kyle's lawyers will handle it on a contingency basis and at the very least will hope to get a settlement as a nuisance suit for under $100,000 like I suspect was the case with Nick Sandmann (terms were never publicly disclosed).

Followed Catturd2 this morning. They have a red check, so you know it's them. A quick search of @catturd shows 9  to 10 versions of the popular name taken. Someone who got to just @catturd first has 60 followers and the account isn't even active. They are posting pretty much what they post on twitter.

Dan Bongino first thing in the morning does the "it's this date and Joe Biden is the worst president in US history" shtick. It's the most popular thing on the site, from what I can tell. Christian Walker is here with his hot takes. He wasn't able to get his name so he added a 1 in the middle. Looks like a lot of "land grabs" of popular people took place. Our favorite pastor, Greg Locke, has several different name combos already taken.

If you were to compare Twitter to the FBG Forums, Truth Social would be two posts in the Politics Forum, all with responses by the same four people. I enjoy Twitter and use it for a news source, but you have to learn it's kinda like drinking out of a fire hose. Truth Social is a slow dripping faucet. Here, even while following the "most popular" people, I can go hours without checking in, and then see everything new posted in just a few seconds. Still early, and Trump still hasn't shown up, but it's not a good sign.

That is so funny because the blue check in Twitter only means that the account has been authenticated, as a means to distinguish genuine notable account holders, such as celebrities and organizations, from impostors or parodies. It has never had anything to do with red or blue political affiliation.

So, Trump has made several, 6 to be precise,  statements the last couple days through his website and Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) has been posting the memos on TS. A lot of the replies are from confused patriots wanting to know why Trump isn't just posting these Truths himself.

The one "popular" sports account did post several times about "loading up on Wilson staying in Seattle at -240". He quickly posted he made a terrible mistake.

Someone posted a meme of "Trump Firsts". "1st president to be impeached twice...", '1st president in 28 years not to have a second term...", etc. Funny or not, the "facts" were all accurate. Immediately, people replied to ban the account, remove the post, and called out Devin specifically as to why he is letting Trolls in when there are a lot of True Patriots waiting patiently to get in. Trolls should get in last.

Hot Girls Golfing is posting quite often. At one point they posted an Asian girl golfing, who was quite attractive. The one and only reply was "That picture just screams COVID". Also, they posted a very attractive African American woman in a tight outfit about to tee off. This got replies of "ummmmm", "NOT hot in the least" and "fire whoever is running this account."

My favorite was a guy under the name @ocgenetics (or something similar) taking the non-Trump side in a debate. The person's profile basically said they got their name so it wouldn't be stolen and didn't care if they were banned. Most replies called him a Troll and go away and go back to twitter. But one guy (who claims that he pulled his personal business off all other social media than TS) said "you are dealing with REAL Patriots here Troll!! Look what I did, what are you going to do about that?" And showed a screenshot where the REAL Patriot purchased the domain ocgenetic.com (without the 's') and was going to show him.

Just great stuff all the way around.

Former President Trump’s platform Truth Social has made little impact on the social media market roughly two weeks after launching on the Apple app store, with hundreds of thousands of potential users stuck on a lengthy waitlist.

The nascent social media platform initially roared onto the scene, capturing the top spot for free downloads on the Apple app store market. But after less than 20 days, Truth Social finds itself far down the list at 116, right between the app for DoorDash drivers and a game in which a genie guesses internet celebrities.

The explanation for the precipitous drop is fairly straightforward: The app has been inaccessible for most users, while the ones who have been admitted have had little to be excited about.

Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes did previously caution that the app would not be “fully functional” until the end of March. 

But the platform’s rocky start cannot be wholly dismissed and is likely indicative of problems to come.

“The reality is that even under the best of circumstances, with good faith and expertise, and a non-divisive premise, social media platforms are hard to launch. Most of them are not successful,” said American University communications chair Aram Sinnreich. 

“You take a highly divisive premise and you add a kind of tepidly, minimally involved figurehead, and you have unaccountable money behind it, and you try to do something that even big industry leading companies have failed to do in the past, and you’ve basically cooked up a recipe for failure before you even start,” he added. 

The vast majority of people who signed up after the initial beta launch have not been able to access the platform. Users have instead been added to a lengthy waitlist, which has not budged; reporters for The Hill who created accounts 10 days ago, for instance, still have 790,000 potential users ahead of them on the list. 

A spokesperson for Trump Media & Technology Group did not respond to a request for comment on timing for opening up access to more users.

Truth Social sent waitlisted users an update on Monday, saying it is “steadily welcoming new users” in a “phased rollout.” But the message did not include a time frame for when users should expect to be let on. Some users who have signed more recently have been told the wait will be at least two weeks.

Difficulties onboarding new users are likely to only be compounded when the app becomes available on Android devices.

Jennifer Grygiel, an associate professor of communications at Syracuse University, said the long wait times are likely a sign the platform was rushed, and not part of a strategic move.  

“If it was something they were serious about launching, they should have had enough service base and things to onboard people quickly. I don't think this queueing is a sign to show how much people want to get in there,” Grygiel said.  

“I think that if anything, [Trump is] trying to spin the underpinning flaws, the architecture of this platform to explain away why it's looking like a ghost town in there, and why the platform has been so clunky,” they added. 

Feedback from users that have been able to access the platform has not been positive either.

As some reporters with accounts have catalogued, active discussion on the platform has been limited. Trump, whose presence is a key differentiator between Truth Social and other right-wing platforms, has still only posted on the platform once.

Several of the other high-profile lawmakers and conservative commentators on the platform have done little more than copy and paste posts from Twitter.

One user who was given early access to the platform told The Hill that technical issues and lack of activity have led him to stop using it regularly. 

“[Lag] is the main reason ... also though, excitement wears off a bit when all of your friends are on the wait list and can't get in,” he said.

Trump is reportedly angry about the launch, sources told The Daily Beast. Publicly, however, he has dismissed the app’s shortcomings and pointed to the waitlist as a sign of high demand. 

“I think it's been an incredible success. We have hundreds of thousands of people trying to get on, and we’re doing it very slowly,” Trump said at last month’s Conservative Political Action Conference. 

Regardless of its rough first weeks, Truth Social may have already given Trump a boost in a potential 2024 presidential campaign because of the data that can be gleaned from sign-ups, Sinnreich said. 

“Those million people who are currently waiting for their profiles to be populated on the website, they may never actually see that profile come to light, but they've already given their personal information to the platform. And so as a data harvesting platform, it's already successful,” Sinnreich said. 

“I'm not sure what they're going to end up doing with [that] data, but based on past practice it seems pretty likely they're going to use it to do more fundraising and social media outreach when the campaign launches,” he added. 

To say nothing of challenging the major social media platforms, Truth Social has so far done little to unseat the apps that already cater to right-wing users.

"Truth Social frustrated many would-be users with its unceremonious rollout,” Jared Holt, a resident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab who closely follows right-wing online discourse, said in an email. 

“Though some die-hard supporters have stated publicly they're holding out for further developments of the app, its botched launch has prevented it from creating any kind of seismic change in the alternative platform landscape for now,” he added. 

Installs dipped slightly for former Trump campaign aide Jason Miller’s Gettr and the video platform Rumble when Truth Social became available, according to estimates shared with The Hill by Sensor Tower. Meanwhile, Parler, the most like-for-like Twitter clone among the right-wing alternatives, actually saw its installs increase from 19,000 to 31,000 in the two weeks before and after Truth Social launched.

Among companies vying for right-wing users upset with mainstream platform content moderation rules, Truth Social is “late to market,” Grygiel said.

“I think the challenge is that those spaces are already established,” they said.

There is still time for Truth Social to turn things around. But unless technical issues with user onboarding and performance can be resolved and Trump’s account becomes more active, Truth Social could end up little more than a blip on the social media landscape.

“I'll be shocked if Truth Social somehow emerges as an important platform for anything, even as an official communications channel for a Trump campaign,” Sinnreich said.

Day Four on Truth Social.

Going to look at some numbers today, as Trump celebrates one month on the site, as he joined on Feb 10th. No point to be made, just data that I am noticing.

• As of today, Trump has 356k followers. I'm going to assume that if you are on, you are following, so I would assume there might be a max of 400k followers total on the site right now. His single post is the Gold Standard of responses with 59k likes, 14k ReTruths and almost 900 comments. Once "fully operational" at the end of March, are they going to hope for 10x that number of users? 100x? 
  
• The most active posts daily on the site are the Dan Bongino "Today is...Biden worst US president in history" posts. These posts average anywhere from 2k to 9k likes each day (against his 224k followers) and about 500 comments. Most comments are the 100 in red, misspelling Obama's name, mentioning Jimmy Carter, coming up with new names for VP Harris ("KamelToe" was quite creative) and again talking about how wonderful having free speech again is to say such things. 
  
• @catturd2 is an interesting watch. They posted the same post on TS and twitter last night. Against 55k followers on TS, the post got 628 likes, 56 ReTruths and 44 comments. On twitter, against 667k followers, the post got 2268 likes, 176 Retweets, and 107 comments.
  
• @DevinNunes and @DanScavino spent a lot of last night sharing memes of each other in order to "make social media great again". These got about 3000 likes and 150 comments.
  

I think things like comments, likes and reTruthing and the ratio against user number is something that Nunes and his group are going to try and push to investors. But it it is still too early to determine what that overall user number is going to be.

Depends on the goal.  I suspect the goal for many of these folks is to grow their long-term social media brand, which means increasing their number of Twitter followers.

I can agree with that, but in these cases, it was like Travis Tritt linking to a Jack Posobiec tweet, so it wasn't driving anyone to a Tritt twitter account, just getting them out of the TS app into an app with more activity.

Another thing I forgot I ran into. There are certain TS posts that show up as a fuzzy box with a "mature" designation and a button you have to push to see the post. There is no rhyme or reason as to what triggers this, but they are showing up. Sometimes for a meme, sometimes for a single cuss word.

Day Five on Truth Social. And the site has defeated me. Foxco completely nailed it. His quote comes into my head every time I check in.  It's not fun or funny, it's just the same depressing day, over and over and over.

Users think they are the first ones in a popular club, getting in on the ground floor on the next big thing, but they are really just huddled in an abandoned McDonalds and someone found some way to get the fryer going for a bit. But they only have expired french fries to cook.

Article talks about how a lot of the influential MAGA people haven't joined or haven't posted and don't care to. No Bannon, no Rudy, no Beck and no Tucker. And Trump continues not to post.  A comment is made that Trump is getting "good traction" with his memos that come out of his website. The elephant in the room is that those that memos have a nice button that goes to the Trump Store for all your Trump needs. 

At CPAC, you saw a lot of comments like below. The feeling is the less rope you give Trump to hang himself, the better.

I'm a glutton for punishment , and can never not watch a good trainwreck, so I'm sure I will be posting a few times a week. I hate the fact there isn't something fun to post everyday. And when I try to dig deep into some of the threads/posts/"Truths" it's the worst version of QAnon, FB sheep and "TheDonald" reddit group hate speech combined. And that's all it is. There is no FFA to swing over to, there is no NBA twitter. It's just exactly what we knew it would be.

This is a great analogy. Thanks for the updates but I fear this is destined to join all of the other failed Trump ventures. I wonder if Nunes will return to Congress or if he's another in a long line of people who got the Trump-stink on them.

Exactly what we knew it would be is equivalent to exactly what it was supposed to be and exactly what they wanted. Now, theyve got it.

So I posted last night. It went SUPER well.  Long story, no point to it.

I follow this one particular guy who clearly does not like Trump, but also is clearly not a fan of Biden, but posts quite often (as least for TS standards). This particular discussion was about Jan 6th, and the physical location of Mike Pence during that day. Those commenting felt it was the "DOJ pulling another trick". My buddy @timsilver clearly stated facts that were known at the time and/or could be seen on footage from the day.

Out of nowhere this guy starts just berating @timsilver using profanity, telling him to get off the platform and also threatening violence toward the guy. The "Mature Content" fuzz box was over three of his responses. I look up the guys profile to find, of course, "I love my family and I love to run. God is great and has blessed me with an amazing wife and child and an incredible gift of being able to run fast paced for long distances."

Now, admitted, long week, was feeling a little petty, but I did make sure I didn't lean one way or another in the debate. Simply stated "if Christians are going to be this welcoming, I don't see the platform growing at all, and we could all stand to do better". The guy immediately responded, calling me a "sally" and "sissy", said I had Stockholm Syndrome, and told me to go pound sand. He then blocked me and I can't see that response or any posts of his ever.

Another guy, also with Christian and family and free speech in his bio, chimed in out of the blue even better with "The old 'Jesus Juke' trick!! LMAO Don't worry! This platform will thrive and you probably won't be very popular. Because without the assistance of censorship, you will quickly understand that YOU aren't on the winning team. People are mad as hell!"

This site is going to eat itself. From a technical standpoint, navigation is horrible, it doesn't nest comments, you don't see responses right away and you still can't search. But from a cultural standpoint, I don't know how you bring anyone that is near the middle. Those people are already comfortable "not being sensored" on Twitter, meanwhile the first sign of someone not siding with someone, they want them blocked, deleted and physically harmed.

That's an interesting comment about "not being on the winning team." I know our Trump supporting friends here are generally pretty confident about "winning" but I don't see the same kind of optimism in conservative intellectual writing.

I've often wondered about the basis for the optimism that the country will eventually swing rightward. Because progressive ideals are inherently self-destructive, maybe?
