***OFFICIAL*** USC v Texas GameThread (1 Viewer)

Texas 38    USC  35

The two best teams in the land bar far.  The two narrow victories by USC over Fresno St. and Notre Dame...........and the unimpressive win vs. Oregon, all teams who LOST in this bowl season makes me believe that Texas will win this game.

I'm taking the 7 points though! :excited:
What about UT's unimpressive performances against Okie St and a T m?
The A and M game wasn't good............but those huge wins vs. Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas.........all teams that WON in this bowl season.Oklahoma beat Oregon who hung with USC . Tulsa beat Fresno St. who almost beat USC and Notre Dame got spanked by Ohio St. who should have beaten USC and Texas won in Ohio St.

Or them sneaking by OSU before the even had a QB.
Getting by Ohio St. in Ohio St. is a great win, period. That defense is tough!

I'm so tired of hearing about that game and the media twist on it after the ND game. OSU didn't know what the heck they were doing on so many levels in that game it wasn't even funny.

Not quite following Jurb, what game are you referring to?

Or he said "remember we are paying you by the hour."

So does Texas actually have a defense or do they count on bad calls and stupid plays in the red zone by USC to slow them down?Drive down field... QB Sneak on 4th and 1.5 (Bad Call)Drive down field... Reggie Bush is an idiotNow they have driven down field... I wonder what they're gunna do because Texas sure as hell ain't stopping them. There ya go Matt... just lob it up there baby...

there's your D

Why didn't Carroll use a timeout when they were about to snap it??USC's last possession (the INT in the endzone) is exactly why I've been saying Leinart is still a risky NFL pick. That should've been a TD, but he just floaaaaaaaaaats that ball out there. Those fast NFL DBs are going to eat that up.

Great.  Now a sloppy game has sloppy officiating and controversy.
This is quickly becoming one of the worst Rose Bowls I have ever seen. What has there been? 5 turnovers? 3 of them unforced. Blown calls. It's a relative miracle of Texas makes it down the field without fumbling at least once. The only thing that can be said for it is each team is playing equally awful so it's relatively close.

To be the devil's advocate, I actually think that this is a very well played defensive game. Both defenses are well prepared, keying on the right people, reacting well, hitting hard, and beating offensive players to the holes. All this forces the offense to adjust and make mistakes. Often, it seems, when two high powered offenses meet up against solid defenses, they look sloppy unless they can turn things up a notch. Whoever does that wins, IMO.

USC couldn't tackle to save their lives and most of Texas' fumbles are occurring without anyone touching the ball. I just don't see it. It's not a defensive struggle it's sloppy play.

Matt Lienart = Chad PennigtonNeither one can make a throw over 10 yards without looking like they are throwing a javelin. He will probably be a good NFL QB but way overvalued if he goes to the Saints at the 2 spot.

Anyone else notice Reggie's regular "stop and go" move, almost like he's on a basketball floor? Sure it demonstrates good body control, but he may lose yards by not keeping his speed up and making hard cuts. He may have to unlearn that at the pro level.

You're right, SC is missing some tackles. Yet they have made some big stops and have looked good considering they are the weak link of the Trojan attack. If the USC O could get it going tonight, I think the D gives up 9 instead of 16 first half points.

Man for coaches that led their teams to the Rose Bowl these two seem to certainly be lacking in the in game management department. Both of them let huge plays get by them because they wouldn't spend a timeout to get a pretty much sure overturn reviewed.Leinart is lucky he doesn't have 3 INTs already this half if the Texas DBs could hold onto the ball when it was in their hands.
