Ravens tickets link above. Cheaper. Better run org. And a stadium parking lot you can get in and out of in less than 4 hours.

1. The tickets are cheaper
2. The organization is better run
3. That parking lot is a cool breeze compared to parking at FedEx
Almost 50 years ago I was born a 'skins fan. I attended games in my Momma's belly. Up until very recently I've emphatically stated: "I bleed burgundy and gold!!!". Born and raised in MD, most kids I knew had 2 favorite Teams: NFC Team: Redskins, AFC Team: Colts...then the Colts stole away under the cover of darkness. Fans in my demographic waited long years for Baltimore to get awarded an NFL Franchise. Unfortunately, when it finally happened, they wound up getting the Browns, in a remarkably similar way that Indianapolis acquired our Colts. I'm in the extreme minority on this, but despite how much I admire how well that organization is run, and how successful they've been, I can't embrace the Ravens like I once did the Colts...the reason being that I think it's hypocritical to be so upset about how the Colts left, and then opening your doors to a Team migrating under similar circumstances. I'm a very principled fellow, and maybe that gives you all some insight as to how I'm wired. I'd rather still be waiting for a true, start from scratch expansion Team to cultivate in Baltimore, than have any allegiance or love for the migrating Modell's.
I've been struggling to put into words, where I'm at with the Redskins right now. I've had this feeling inside of me for a while now, this melancholy that seemed familiar, but I just couldn't place. I'm a night-owl by nature, and lately I've been immersed in NCAA hoops. When the games end, I'm so amped up, but there's a void of activity I need to fill while I wind down, and it's given me time to really think through my past, when I felt like this before, and I finally hit on it late last night, dredging up some stuff from my past that I'd buried for more than half my life...fresh out of college, I was young and in the deepest love I'd ever been in. Thought I had met 'the one'; the love of my lifetime. It was a long, and deep relationship that I thought would never end. Right around the time we were getting ready to make it a lifetime commitment, she went through some crisis and drama. It wasn't something she saw coming, and mostly not her fault or the result of her own decisions...but the aftermath absolutely was centered around what she made of it. Long story short, she didn't make lemonade out of the lemons life gave her, and refused to allow anyone who loved her to generate any positive impact as she spiraled downward and eventually engaged in self-destructive behavior. Alienated pretty much everyone along the way, but it took forever...I, and others, tried for a long time to love her...to stay in love with her...because she was such a special person, I know we all tried more than any rational human being would have...but that's the way love is: It takes objectivity and reason and logic and throws it all out the window. To top it all off, she exuded charisma - alluring is a sensual word that probably describes her best. She was captivating - drew you in. People just couldn't walk away; kept giving her second chances, then..."just when I thought I was out...you pulled me back in"...eventually, after plenty of heartache, and multiple heartbreaks, all of us reached the same conclusion - it took some longer than others, but the conclusion was inevitable. She'd just changed. Fundamentally, and incontrovertibly, she'd become someone else - something other than that which she once was. And what she once was, probably wasn't coming back in our lifetimes. Hasn't yet, and it's been over 2 decades. Years later, I remember her fondly, and I cherish those memories, but I've moved on. I'm removed enough from that whole situation by now that I can look back and see it with crystal clarity; hindsight, of course, but I'll never forget that love I felt, the love I was in, that time of my life, or that person that gave me cause to love them so...but the someone they are now is not, and likely never will be, the someone she once was...but I'm better for the experience, and wiser, if not healthily cynical, for it...which is what is allowing me to detach myself to some degree from this latest catastrophe, and take it more in stride. I guess I've grown up a little...
I don't know how many of you are my age, or how many of you were born and raised here, but for those of us born in the late 60's early 70's into established Maryland families who already bled burgundy and gold for years, it might help to understand that we were raised in our fandom by people who had been fans of a pretty decent team from the 30's through the mid-40's, and then had tolerate almost THREE DECADES of utter garbage and complete #### show that was the Redskins of that era, before Vince Lombardi's one year marked a transformation that would span the better part of 3 decades. I was born in '68 - my Dad was 55 at the time, as hard-core a fan as you could imagine, who'd seen every Season (can you imagine, he was 25 when the Redskins moved here from Boston)! He would talk about hitting the lottery in 68-69: he had a son, and Vince Lombardi arrived in Washington, and life was nothing but positive after that. Looking back, it's kind of ironic that he passed in August of 1999. He missed arguably the last good Team of that era, but never had to endure a return to a situation worse than the one he'd had to endure as a fan through that stretch of mid-40's through late 60's. George Allen seems a lot like my Dad. I'd like to think that if he was around, he'd take Bruce out behind the woodshed for how he's performed in his role with the Redskins. Talk about shaming a legacy...
...and, unfortunately, there's no reason to believe there's nothing but more of the same ahead for the forseeable future. I've figured out where I am with the Redskins right now: It's said that the opposite of love is not hate...but rather, indifference. I'd say I'm 'detached', and that's the best I can do for now.
I find this intriguing simply because he obviously has a TON of info from agents, GMs, etc. I could see that being a plus in that there are a lot of existing relationships. It could also be a huge negative because GMs could be irritated that they gave him info as a journalist that he could take advantage of as a GM.Thoughts on Mike Mayock as a potential new GM? He seems knowledgeable and at least seems respected by his peers...
Wow. One year? That seems weird.Schefter
WR Terrelle Pryor is signing a one-year deal with Washington , per sources.
I told you guys about Scott's drinking months ago.
Wish it were more than one year but good signing nonetheless.Wow. One year? That seems weird.
Well said MF...even with all this ####e going on, they still have opportunity here. We'll see what happens...I like the Pryor move. Think he did 1 year so he can show teams last year wasn't a fluke and try and get more money next year. Don't think it necessarily says anything about the Cousins situation.
If, and it may be a big IF, Doctson is healthy, our receiving corps could be pretty solid. Pryor, Crowder, Doctson, Reed, and Davis. I could live with that.
Now, they just need to find a way to get Cousins long-term, add some more DL, LB, and safety help. Despite all the McCloughan drama, all hope may not be lost for this team yet.
Seems that way. Worked out well for Okung this offseason. Plus Pryor should have plenty of targets available to puff up those numbers.I like the Pryor move. Everyone knew about his drinking unless you had your head in the sand. That ESPN article from a few years back spelled it out for all potential future employers:
"I'd think to myself, 'OK, Scot, why not have a beer? It never affected your life before; you went from being an area scout to being general manager. Don't touch the vodka, don't touch the hard stuff. But if you want to have a beer, have a beer.' So that's where I got to. I stopped going to AA."
That's what he says he will tell NFL teams if they come calling now./b]
Oh yeah, he'll be a good fit in Jay's offense. And with the way the Skins throw the ball around, he should put up good numbers. He had similar numbers to DJax last season and that was with him playing with the mess the Browns had at QB and with him basically being their only option. Now he has Crowder and Reed to take pressure off him and maybe a healthy Doctson. Pryor should be in for a good year.Seems that way. Worked out well for Okung this offseason. Plus Pryor should have plenty of targets available to puff up those numbers.
I'd spend some time reading the Washington Post.Dude just got fired from an NFL team for the 3rd time due to his drinking. And the team obviously felt that it was such a problem, that they fired him at the absolute worst possible time for the team. There's no way you send your GM home during the combine and then fire him on the even of free agency unless he is absolutely killing your team.
I don't think he has to worry about NFL teams calling him up any time soon.
On the other hand, who would have thought he would have ever got a 3rd chance?
I have heard nothing but good things about the guy, what are these bad things people say?https://www.google.com/amp/amp.cleveland.com/v1/articles/19327112/how_badly_does_terrelle_pryor.amp
This is the type of guy they are getting with Pryor. Last year with Cleveland loss after loss he laid it out there. People talk about his character but I see a lot of positives in his character that could be really good for the team.
When I see teams hire a TV personality as their GM it makes me wonder if a team executive and/or HC want to have more power. They are putting a face the public recognizes and a good public communicator in the position but I'm not sure if they will be a "real" GM or not. That's what the SF move was all about imo and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what is playing out here.Thoughts on Mike Mayock as a potential new GM? He seems knowledgeable and at least seems respected by his peers...
I have no idea how much the guy drinks. All I know is since the day he got hired the measure of WAS playing well has been whether they get to the playoffs and if so how far. The previous two years before he got there the Redskins had averaged 3.5 wins/season. The seven years before he got there WAS finished above .500 once. In two years WAS was above .500 twice. Maybe he's a functional drunk, I have no idea. But if I were a Jags, chargers or Browns fan I'd give the guy an unlimited tab to at the very least head up my scouting department. There are so many retreads in the NFL that do their job terribly, here you have a guy that is actually good at his job whether he's sober or not.Dude just got fired from an NFL team for the 3rd time due to his drinking. Check out that Alshon Jeffery contract. Guaranteed $9.5M + incentives up to $4.5M. I have no idea how teams like SF/CLE didn't double those numbers as they were ~$100M under the cap at the start of FA. After seeing some of these WR contracts this offseason(and keep in mind the salary cap went up substantially) I can't help but wonder if there is some sort of collusion going on. I wouldn't put it past the NFL owners.I just don't understand why the Browns gave Kenny Britt 4 yrs 33 mil, but not Pryor?
edit: actually the more I think about it he has a better chance for big numbers in WAS (and a bigger contract next offseason) than he would in CLE. Makes sense if he's betting on himself
They did, he passed.I just don't understand why the Browns gave Kenny Britt 4 yrs 33 mil, but not Pryor?
Seems like my kinda player. Not happy you got him.Hawkins credit’s Pryor’s development to his work ethic and relentless effort.
“There’s not a player that has worked as hard as Terrelle Pryor. I’m talking about putting the time in,” Hawkins said. “Terrelle will text me at 1 o’clock in the morning like, ‘Hey, do you think this play is going to get called?’ I’m like, ‘Terrelle, I’m off the clock. Don’t talk to me, I’ve got kids.’ He’s like, ‘Aw, yeah, man, I have no life. This is my life. Something’s wrong with me.’ But this is who he is. He’s the first one in the facility, he’s the last one to leave … To see where he is now is amazing.”
He didn't get fired for drinking. He got fired for coming to work #### faced. Allegedly...I told you guys about Scott's drinking months ago.

He was FavreCo before he got banned, so yeah. He's the guy who said Cam Newton and Jameis Winston are "game managers". And recently said the 49ers would finish first in their division followed up a couple weeks later by saying they'd suck for years.Swing 51 said:This lod001 is kind of a ####

I think Allen's only going to hire a GM who does not have roster control, which means he'll hire someone with a lower office elsewhere or a rookie at front office work.CabinFever said:Thoughts on Mike Mayock as a potential new GM? He seems knowledgeable and at least seems respected by his peers...
He didn't get longterm offers as good as he had hoped, so this is his way to get paid well for a year and prove himself. Very glad they signed him.dgreen said:Wow. One year? That seems weird.East Coast Bias said:Schefter

This is a huge deal. Makes it clear that Cousins has been negotiating with Allen all along, and the resistance to paying him from within the organization has come from Allen, not McCloughan.Swing 51 said:Chick Hernandez Verified account @CHICKatCSN 2h2 hours ago
