The Commanders are signing RB Donovan Edwards to the practice squad, per source. Edwards, a standout at Michigan, signed with the Jets as a UDFA. He was released this week, despite leading the NY team in rushing during the preseason. Washington did not have a RB on the PS

In 1964, in a rare quarterback-for quarterback trade, the Eagles and Redskins swapped signal-callers. The Eagles sent Sonny Jergensen to the Redskins for Norm Snead. When they met during the regular season, Jurgensen threw for 385 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-20 victory over the Eagles. Snead was 12 for 25 for 126 yards.
I'd keep Lane over McCaffrey. I haven't paid enough attention to Doubs to offer any advice there.Fellow Washington fans, if you had to make a cut at WR, who would you drop in a PPR dynasty league between Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, or Romeo Doubs? I hate the drop any Washington player, could I justify dropping Doubs or would you drop Luke or Jaylin? I have been trying to read an updated report on who's likely to win the slot WR position and I can't find anything definitive, and I have to make a cut by 10pm tonight. Any thoughts here?
Each practice day, right around 6 a.m., Jayden Daniels’ phone rings. Kliff Kingsbury is calling. The Washington Commanders offensive coordinator is not placing a long-distance call. Instead, Kingsbury calls his quarterback from the same indoor practice field at the same line of scrimmage. Kingsbury delivers a play-call to Daniels via headphones and awaits quarterbacks coach Tavita Pritchard snapping the ball in one hand while holding the day’s practice script in his other.
Kingsbury releases off the line of scrimmage, playing the role of Daniels’ receiver while continuing the conversation by phone. “I’m talking to him as I’m running the route, saying, ‘Hey, if I’m covered …’” Kingsbury told Yahoo Sports. “Talking through how I see the game [to] get him comfortable before meetings.”
Sometimes, this early-morning session lasts 10 minutes. Other days, the trio breaks down the day’s call sheet for 30. They don’t miss a practice day. “Super, super helpful. Super,” Daniels told Yahoo Sports. “I have a walkthrough before the walkthrough, where I already kind of been over it.” Cue better clarity in team meetings and on gamedays.
We're old.Where are you guys!?!?! This is what yall have been waiting for.
Congrats on the win Skins fans.
I remember having really high expectations for 2006. 2004 was the return of Gibbs and 2005 was a playoff year. In the offseason, Al Saunders was brought in to modernize the offense and, for whatever reason, it just didn't work.2004- The return of Joe Jackson Gibbs. If Daniels is held out of Sunday's game, backup Marcus Mariota would be in line to make his first NFL start since 2022 with the Atlanta Falcons. Mariota appeared in relief of the starting QB in three games each in 2023 with the Philadelphia Eagles and 2024 with Washington.
Daniels was one of several Commanders players injured against the Packers, and cornerback Jonathan Jones went on injured reserve Wednesday with a bad hamstring. Quinn said the team expects Jones to return to the roster at some point this season.
Running back Austin Ekeler and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. both were put on IR on Monday with season-ending injuries.
DE Preston Smith is signing with the Commanders, NFL Network Insiders Mike Garafolo, Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday, per sources. The team later announced the news. Smith, 32, played for Washington from 2015-18 after being drafted by the franchise in the second round of the '15 draft. The veteran pass rusher spent the 2024 season in Green Bay and Pittsburgh, totaling 4.5 sacks. Over his 10-year career, Smith has tallied 70.5 sacks in 163 games played (138 starts). Smith will replace the injured Deatrich Wise in the pass rush rotation and join fellow veteran Von Miller in Washington's front seven.

The D.C. Council voted 11-2 on Wednesday to approve a deal valued at around $3.7 billion to build the team a new stadium on the old RFK Stadium site. It’s the second and final vote that was needed to finally close the book on a yearslong, winding political saga that’s involved Congress, D.C. leaders and even President Donald Trump. And the drama continued until the very end.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Commanders officials announced the deal in April, with some council members expressing concerns about its terms and the lack of communication with the council. The back and forth between the council, mayor’s office and the team drew on for months, until the council approved an amended deal in its first vote in August.
Most everyone was seemingly on board and final approval Wednesday seemed certain. But just hours before the final vote, several council members submitted last-second amendments, sparking frustration from the team. Washington Commanders President Mark Clouse wrote a letter to the council Wednesday responding to the proposed changes. “For several months, our team worked in good faith with each Councilmember to finalize this project,” Clouse wrote. “Less than 24 hours before the final vote, the Commanders organization was presented with a list of unworkable and impractical new last-minute demands by Councilmembers, which we simply cannot agree to as it jeopardizes the deal.” WTOP’s Mike Murillo reported from the Wilson Building in D.C. that those amendments included new taxes on parking and merchandise revenue, as well as penalties for missed deadlines on delivering housing included in the deal.
While the team isn't off to an impressive start, I still have quite a bit of confidence that Mariota can lead them to a win Sunday. So, I'd be careful with Daniels.Daniels won't practice until at least Friday.

Lowest pressure rates allowed by rookie offensive linemen in Week 3 (min. 15 pass protection snaps):

2. Armand Membou, NYJ - 2.2% (47/1)
3. Tate Ratledge, DET - 3.4% (30/1)
4. Donovan Jackson, MIN - 3.7% (28/1)

Amos (calf) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. Amos was forced to leave Sunday's 41-24 loss to the Raiders this past Sunday due to a calf injury. The rookie second-rounder was limited in Wednesday's practice, but his ability to fully participate in Thursday's session indicates that he should be cleared to play against the Falcons on Sunday, barring a setback. Amos has five tackles (four solo) and four pass defenses through the first three games of the regular season.
If Brown is unable to go on Sunday, Lane will see an increase in snaps vs. the Falcons. If McLaurin joins Brown on the sidelines, Washington will be forced to start not only their rookie receiver in Lane, but also their sophomore wideout, Luke McCaffery.
Well, we've talked about all the "luck" advantages the team had last year. So many things went their way. And I feel like health was one of those things. This year may have a lot things go against us, so I think we're going to get a good idea of how good the roster really is.Here come the recently drafted WR's.
Looks like both Lane and McCaffrey will be starting.

And I'm OK with that. Peters said when he took over that it would take at least 3 years to rebuild an entire roster, and I think he might be shorting it by a year or two. Let's see who's good enough now, who has potential to be good enough, and who's just not going to cut it. I read Week 7 for his return, but it was just some writer's guess and not based on anything from the team.So thank the Lord, sounds like Jayden will be back for week 5, but I'm hearing very little about Terry. Anyone hear or read anything about his return as of late?
Veteran wideout Robbie Chosen has found a new team. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Chosen has agreed to a deal to join the Commanders’ practice squad. Chosen opened up this season on the 49ers’ practice squad, but he was released earlier this month.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been medically cleared to return, paving the way for him to play Sunday at the Los Angeles Chargers.
Coach Dan Quinn said Daniels will be considered a full participant in the Commanders' practice Wednesday. He was limited last week. "I plan on going out there on Sunday," Daniels said. During the portion of practice open to the media, Daniels took his usual reps while still wearing a brace on his left knee under his black sweats. He said he does not like wearing the brace but "if that's what I have to wear, then I'll do anything possible."
