I hope you're right and obviously the talent is there and the schedule softens up a bit after July 4th. But it's awfully hard to go on a run when you have the lesser starting pitcher in approximately 80% of your games, and with Strasburg out that's basically the position the Nats find themselves in.
The good news from this season IMO is there's no reason to think the Nats window will close this season as many have been saying. They're 5 games over .500 and have gotten maybe 3 wins over replacement level from the guys who are free agents at the end of this season (Harper, Gio, Murphy, Madson). Take that $300 million they've been reserving for a bid on Harper, spend it on Patrick Corbin and an extension for Rendon instead, and they can keep this going for a little while.
