Surprised this isn't up yet. Preseason is over. The Shanny/Allen/McNabb era officially begins against our blood rival Dallass Clownboys in primetime. Primetime openers haven't been kind to us in the past, bit that was the past, and we aren't here to talk about the past. We're here to talk about the 2010 Washington Redskins.

So let's do it.

Record predictions?

I have always been an eternal optimist (read: blind homer) when is comes to the Skins. This year, not so much. I think we are a 6-10 team. I hope those wins are: 2 against NY, 2 against Philly, and 2 against Dallass. Has anyone ever won a division at 6-10?

As long as McNabb is healthy enough to play, I really like the Skins chances. Its home, Shanny's first game as coach, McNabb's first game as a Redskin, you know they want to win in the worst way. I think McNabb's play will be the reason we win or lose. I just don't have the confidence I wish I did in the running game right now. I hope Fat Albert plays and goes nuts.

I'll be optimistic and say that I think they CAN claw their way to 8-8. I can see them splitting the division games to be at 3-3. Three likely losses to Minn, Green Bay and Indy to be at 3-6. That means they'll need to go 5-2 against the collection of Houston, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, and JAX -- which is not a gimme but doable.

The first 6 games of the season is murderous...if they can steal 3 games from those first 6, they'll actually be sitting good...though it's more realistic to see them starting 2-4, and then surge at the end...

Sound be an interesting season to watch...

As a Cowboys fan the only thing I'm not liking is Shanny. He brings the resume to instill confidence in his players, and he has the owners confidence. they are finally a professional organization, something they haven't been since Shotty was canned. I do have my doubts that he isn't burned out, and he hasn't done much since Elway retired, but as I was saying before, he makes them a professional organization.

I think their entire season hinges on McNabb. The line is still suspect, but the difference between him and Campbell, is that Donovan will be able to get the ball out quickly. The caveat tot hat, is he has never been the most accurate guy in the world, and more importantly, the most healthy. The last time he played a full season was 7 years ago, IIRC.

I see them as 7-9. That is actually an accomplishment, considering the team Shanny inherited. I certainly see them trading up to draft a QB in the first round next season. I think their receiving corp is under the radar and will open a few eyes this year, IF McNabb can hit them.

BOLD Predictions:

This will be Portis' last year in Washington.

Orakpo will have 15+ sacks

McNabb plays less then 10 games.

I think 7-9 will be a successful season.

I think the Redskins will play much better, more fundamentally sound football. But I also think they are lacking in talent, especially at WR and back OL. The run blocking is a big concern. I don't think they have the zone blocking scheme down yet. They apparently do not practice the cut blocking against their own defense, so it may take a while for the OL to get it down.
