***Official*** Washington Redskins 2013 Thread (1 Viewer)

Overall, a nice win. My only real complaint (other than the continued ST disasters) is the lack of a pass rush. A decent pass rush could have put that game away in regulation.

Great time. My daughter loved it and had a blast. She was screaming along with her little friend and singing the fightsong. I may have to get season tickets again......dam you Dan Snyder.

I've always read that it's cheaper to just buy the tickets for games you want to attend online, even if it's every home game, than to actually have season tickets. Is that false?

Depends on how good they are and where you want to sit.

Some seasons, at the lowest points, people are giving away upper level tickets on craigslist if you buy a parking pass. Other seasons, like last season, tickets against Dallas were going for about 5x face value.

That makes sense, thanks for the insight. I've only been to two games--one @ Giants up here a couple years ago, and last year @ home vs. Panthers. Two terrible games, of course.

I had club seats for 4 years and then regular seats for 5 years but just got fed up and gave them up a couple years ago (and I have two young daughters which made is progressively more difficult to devote all of eight Sundays to tailgating). It was always nice to have them if I wanted to go, to be able to give to friends or clients if I wanted, or to be able to sell them.

Those are my only complaints as well (add in batted passes). And believe me, there's a lot more to be happy about than to complain about in that game. Sustained drives, more rushing, 4 rushing TDs, receivers that were actually open, a QB who actually saw the open receivers and didn't get killed while throwing to them. Man I love it when the run game is working; it makes the passing game and defense both easier.

Still at the end with the Chargers having first and goal it seemed like another sad cowboy movie where the guy you like gets led up the gallows. The hood is put over his head, the rope around his neck, and you know he's about to meet his end as soon as the platform drops out from under his feet.

Then the platform didn't drop.

And didn't drop.

And didn't drop.

So they give him a severe spanking again, and he walks down from the gallows and you know he's going to win.

They played a pretty good game, and they won.

The first half seemed to fly by, and the second half seemed to take an eternity; did anyone else notice that? Worse yet, up here in the fringes of the Ravens broadcast area they cut away to the beginning of the Ravens game while the Skins were on their long OT drive. Fortunately I could get the broadcast online.

What a flawed game and what a great game.

By the way Jason Campbell had a good game today beating the Ravens. His passing was good and his running ability was critical to the outcome.

I think we did enough to win the game for sure. RGIII looked his most accurate passing game of the season, but Garcon seems to have to make at least one crazy catch a game, he sure is saving RGIII a lot. As much as we did right, I think SD lost this game. I took what I wrote in a Matthews thread and put it here. I like that our Defense stopped them at our one yard line, but they made it far easier for us than it should have been.

SD coaches are tools!!!! Matthews was averaging 5 yards a carry in first quarter of the game and they never went back to him. They had first and goal at the one yard line and a TD would have won the game for them. You'd think they would put a real RB in to punch it in, no the SD coaches try to punch it in with the smallest player in the NFL (Woodhead)...I think both PK's in the game are bigger than him. Of course, the Redskins D huff n puffed and Woodhead fell down for NO GAIN. Then attempted pass play, fail. Then they bring in Matthews, but only as a decoy as the pass fails again. So they settle for a FG and go into OT and then loss the game.

Amazing that an RB can get 5 yds a carry and coached leave him on the sideline to catch a sun tan, even in situations where his presence is most needed. If I were Matthews, I would not re-sign with SD and that would be even if they are paying the most. SD lost that game because of poor coaching.

Not too concerned about the pass rush in this game. Didn't SD coming in only have 11 sacks allowed or something like that? Just hard to get to Rivers this year.

Looks like the running game is finally back from last season. Amazing what happens when we feed Morris the rock. Big game from Garcon. The classic squeaky wheel gets the grease game. Not a bad game from RG3, wasn't his best, but much improved from the Denver game.

Need to win @Minnesota on Thursday night to keep pace. Getting to 4-5 would be big, especially with Dallas playing @New Orleans next week.

Agreed. I assume we're actually favored against Minny? After that is @ Philly with hopefully some payback and reaching 0.500.

I thought I heard we're -2.5 against Minny.

Getting back to .500 would be huge. The rest of the schedule doesn't look too terrible except for the KC and SF games, but both of those are at home at least. 9-7 or 8-8 is certainly possible if we can win these next 2 and get to 5-5. Dallas, Giants x2, and Atlanta are all certainly winnable. Not saying we'll only lose 2 more the rest of the way, but our schedule seems to be set up for a run if we can take advantage of the matchups.

I am more concerned with getting to 4-5 than I am with getting to 9-7. The Redskins have played exactly one good game this year (if you ignore their special teams yesterday) and have played some real stinkers. There's no reason to assume they'll put together 2 good games in a row at this point.

I'm certainly hoping for it though.

Definitely not saying it will happen, but our schedule is set up to make a run. Will we? I have no idea. Like you, I'd like to see us win 2 in a row before I really start to believe. But in the words of Lloyd Christmas, "So you're telling me there's a chance?!"

If I remember watching the score ticker correctly yesterday the Vikings were ahead of the Cowboys late in the game before losing. So if there's any sense at all that Thursday's game will be 'easy' for the Skins, forget it. Minnesota is certainly able to beat Washington.

And vice versa.

The cool thing about being a fan is that it's ok if we don't take it one game at a time.

Watching Orakpo and Kerrigan attempt the same pass rush move over and over and not getting close to Rivers was frustrating. Not to mention the push from the inside was basically non-existant. When they did get relatively close, Rivers of all people was able to use his legs to get away. Going against the more mobile QBs is gonna be a nightmare at this rate

Tonight feels like it has to be a statement game. Not just from a "stringing together good games" consistency stand point, but also because Minnesota is just an undeniably bad team. If this 'Skins team wants to be a legitimate playoff contender this season they have to take care of the "should win" games.

It makes me nervous.

i dont need a statement game. Just a win over a team we should beat. a 2 game winning streak should help with confidence.

These are the games the Redskins would typically lose in the past. This game reminds me of the Carolina game last year. Going in, we all thought we'd come out with a victory. Don't get me wrong, we SHOULD win this game tonight. The Vikings are decimated by injuries, especially their secondary. This should be RG3's coming out party. I would be very disappointed if we don't win this one.

For this team, at this point, in this season, I think that would be a significant statement.

indeed. i thought you initially meant you wanted to see like a 30 point blowout win or something. but your right. just winning would be a statement.

Agreed, we just need to prove we can win a winnable game without throwing up all over ourselves and tripping into the urinal trough.

You should check out the division standings, laughing guy. Crazy enough, the division is still in reach with a win streak. Like last year.

He's a cowboys fan. He's seen the standings. Just trolling.

So far they are making a statement alright. Of course the statement is "Hey, our defense really sucks."

...and here's the rub: this Team could really use a better Offensive Coordinator...but how the hell do you fire the Coach's kid without having to blow up the whole thing...again. Did we see even ONE zone read option play on that last series inside the 10?

...and that 4th down call was inexcusable. A head should roll for us not getting that game tied up at the end. No excuse. We should be winning in overtime right now.

DAMN DAMN DAMN IT!!!

Pathetic. I'd drudge up the same points I made two weeks ago after an undisciplined, pathetic showing by a team that's had four years of Shanahan coaching, but it would be pointless and repetitive.

pathetic defense and play calling again. I sense a pattern. That last play call....grrr. Getting stuffed from 1st and goal from the 1? Giving up 20 straight points to a terrible offense? Fire everyone

Well I pretty much called this one. Just like the Carolina game, but probably worse. How do you blow a 13 point 3rd quarter lead to the Minnesota Vikings? Christian Ponder had 4 incomplete passes and I think Cassel had 2. How is that even possible? Our defense looked pathetic. The offense played pretty well. Sure you can question the play calling in the 2nd half, but Morris had 24 carries and I think we had 30+ running plays. When the defense only forces 2 stops all game, (an INT and 1 punt) you're not going to win many games. I blame Haslett and the defense for this one. If you score 27 points, you should win the game.

Aside from being able to reach the endzone a few times, I think the O was pretty damn good this game.

The D was incredibly awful.

I love laying blame at Kyle's feet, but he didn't drop sure touchdowns or give up the 5th highest completion percentage in Viking's team history to Christian Freaking Ponder.

I think Kyle is just the easy target after this game. But when the offense has over 400yds and you score 27 points, you should win. I'd bet teams that do that have a pretty good winning percentage. But when you allow the Vikings to score 34 points, 20 of them in the 2nd half, it's hard to win. Sure blame Kyle for getting away from the run in the 2nd half. But you can't expect the offense to go out and constantly score 30+ to win games.

Total Yards:

WAS- 433

MIN- 307

Skins were +1 in turnover margin too.

Special teams and penalties (Skins 8 for 63 yards, Vikings a you-gotta-be-kidding-me 1 for 7 yards). The story of this season.

I thought the Vikings got away with a bunch of calls. There was the holding on Reed that seemed pretty obvious at the goal line on the final drive. Seemed like they were also getting a few late shots on RG3 that weren't called. Definitely some holding calls that they got away with on Kerrigan. Not the best officiated game. Not putting all the blame on the officials, but they weren't exactly making things better. Especially the BS call on Baker for roughing the passer. Guess you can't put your helmet in a guy's chest?

There's a reason Vegas oddsmakers give you four points for home field advantage. It's hard to win NFL road games- hell, look at the quality squads that lost at FedEx to our mediocre bunch the last two home games.
