I’m sure I missed this, but what was the point from Delores’ POV, of having the battle last episode. She goes in, tells the army that the enemy is coming, they fight and she leaves. What was the point of that from her?  Why spend two episodes recruiting an army just to let them die?  Why not just keep moving?
Some hosts aren't worthy of moving forward and are disposable to her. They managed to stop the initial attack and she is able to move on with her own soldiers. Maybe she felt they wouldn't remain loyal, unlike her Wyatt masked soldiers who were programmed to follow Wyatt.

Did Ford ever explain what type of programming Bernard has. He's obviously not in a loop. Was he one of a kind in that respect?

He clearly did something with the data - it was a one-time use decryption, and Charlotte obviously did not find what she was looking for in Abernathy after she grabbed him (She told Bernard she could not find Abernathy, before she asked Bernard where Abernathy could be...)
Are we sure he was able to access it?  I don't remember seeing him get past the password.

I don't think he is in a loop either, but, how are you sure he is not?  Lots of theories saying he might be.

I thought it showed he got through just before the #### hit the fan - something popped up on the device that said it was a one-time decryption key - suggesting that nobody else can access it now.

Combined with Charlotte seemingly still looking for Abernathy later in the show, even though we know she found him, tells me she could not access whatever Abernathy was carrying.

I might have to start re watching the previous episode each week, I can't remember all this ####.

I'm looking at a loop as a story that starts over again and again. Bernard was in what seemed like a continuous storyline. He wouldn't know humans like Theresa or Elsie if his story started over at some point. They would know then that he was a bot.

Ah, I thought you were talking about a recent loop, reliving the past two weeks so he can get the abernathy code for whomever put him in the loop.

so Jungle World and Westworld are only separated by a giant body of water? I would think the barriers between worlds would be harder to get through. and how did samurai guy get into northern Westworld?

They crossed through some kind of red laser that I'm sure would be an alarm during regular operations. Enough time to prevent anyone or anything from going to another area probably.

Like all human things this security system seems pretty lame. I bet those killer androids would put up tnt laced walls with 50 yards of razor wire and land mines on either side.

Wayne Knight turned off the security system.

Yes, it showed him breaking the security clearance by repeatedly touching the same spot on the screen

Disappointed with episode 3.  Just more set up and not much depth.  Reminds me of Jurassic Park and The Lost World.

I finally had the chance to rewatch the last episode. I also went back to the first 2 episodes just to see the scenes of the "current" Bernard, the one that woke up on the beach. There have really only been 3 scenes with him so far and he says very little.

Ep1, he wakes up on the beach, clearly confused. He recognizes the guy saying "shoot a woman, over my dead body", seemingly remembering that he programmed him to be virtuous. He then questions Strand about executing hosts, saying that some of them aren't hostile and tells them it is Dolores in the video killing the GN guy they took the brain out of. At the end of the episode, he sees Ford dead and then at the lake, while clearly fixated on a floating dead Teddy says that he killed them all.

He doesn't appear in Ep2

In EP3, Charlotte asks him "Do you have any idea where Peter Abernathy might have gone?. He seems to keep slipping away from us"

That's it. Those are the only scenes with current Bernard. The last time we saw him before waking at the beach was for some reason Clementine knocked him out and dragged him away. Charlotte somehow loses Abernathy from when they drive him away from the fort to when she questions Bernard underground. Maybe not the physical body of him but the data stored. They might realize he's been drained of the data once they get him to safety. Rewatching the scene where Bernard is with Abernathy during the attack, it isn't as obvious as I first thought that he uploaded the data into himself but maybe he could store it in the tablet to transfer it later? I don't know. Definitely seems like he has the data somehow though.

One other interesting thing was Dolores telling Teddy to go back to Sweetwater with her, saying "There's something I need there"  It explains why she appeared in the video taken from the GN brain, which was dated 11 days and 9 hours from when they watched it. It falls in that timeline I guess. And if GN is there to protect humans, it makes sense that they would be where they were, and why hosts had arrows in them. GN was part of a counter to the rebellion. Hmmm...still need to know how Stubbs is alive. He hasn't said much. Not sure what Dolores would need at Sweetwater though.

They went to alot of trouble just to have jungle girl wash up on a beach to get a haircut.

She was on the americans right?

and ftr, outside of Entertainment Weekly recaps, I don't read anything else on the show like reddit or other spoiler/theory type sites. I'm only going by what I see on the show.

Speaking of Entertainment Weekly, the last recap said that they got to preview the first 5 episodes and the next one was the best of them and is the one that will have everyone "buzzing"

My only complaint with E03 was there was no MiB. Other than that, I thought it was a pretty solid episode.

The preview from last week seemed to be heavy MiB, so this makes sense.

I think I'm out. Tried really hard to like this show but I just dont. I'm bored when I'm watching it and dont care at all any of the characters. Just seems like every episode is just a bunch of red-shirts getting killed while the 4 or 5 truly important people randomly make progress towards something that we can't see. It seems like right now, we're supposed to be excited to find out the true purpose of the park but I just can't get invested at all.

Maybe I'm just a simpleton but this just show just seems too smart for its own good. Unlike something like Game Of Thrones (where I just dread the ending of almost every episode) I almost can't wait for this to be over each week.

Oh well.

JFC.

That was just an amazing episode of TV.

There had been a definite lack of complete mind blowingness and "I have no idea what's going on" moments this season, as compared to season 1.

Um, not now.  I have no idea what exactly is going on, but whatever it is, I love it.  One of the better hours of television, period.

Incredible television. There is absolutely no way anyone can unpack everything going on with a single viewing. I love that about this show. Gotta stay on your toes and pay attention to everything going on.

So:

1.  Delos is trying to play god - literally.  Looks like they are trying to develop the AI to the point where it can take over for the person - although that appears to be a failed effort.

2.  Assume that Delos was also thinking about this from a strategic perspective - hence collecting DNA from hosts.  Not sure if that is just to experiment with, or plans to build those humans at a later time.

3.  William/MIB is obviously obsessed with this technology - Ford probably set up the game to show the end result - (can't change humanity, even with AI?)

4.  William daughter - probably wants to know what is driving her father, and what drove her mother to kill her self.

5.  Ghost nation - running a side program - not sure of the intent just yet.

6. Bernard - evil bot/nice bot - hard to track his timeline, but he is a bot, likely being run on a program.

7. Dolores - Maeve:  nothing new for them this week, but I am still of the opinion that at least 1 is running on a program, and the other is crossing into "free-will"

8.  I am still not clear about the database loaded into Abernathy - who wants it out?  Is Charlotte aligned with William/MIB?  Is it just a DNA database of hosts?

What were you wrong about?  Sorry don't want to go back and find it.

I'm still pretty confused about GN.
Wrong in that they were some kind of retaliation force being used to help the guests, possibly being controlled by Elsie somehow, maybe through some kind of reprogramming. They are still following a narrative that doesn't seem to have changed. At least from what we know now.

The biggest takeaway for me from the episode was that Ford had Bernard print a control unit for another human. That would seem to be for either Ford himself, I've thought all along that Anthony Hopkins would be back somehow and they are doing a great job of keeping it hidden, or for MiB. I also thought after the conversation between MiB and Lawrence a couple of episodes ago that MiB might be a clone of William. Not sure what other human it would be for.

Great acting by the guy playing James Delos. What do you think the timeframe was from when MiB was talking to Delos and the collapse of the system? Was what we saw, with Delos' cut up face, the end result of that last meeting? It seemed like Ed Harris was made to look a little younger in that scene.

"If you're looking forward, you're looking in the wrong direction" might be why Dolores is heading back to Sweetwater. Not sure what it means and what game Robert is playing that MiB still doesn't understand. There's something still even bigger going on.

He didn't seem too keen on the cloning plan during his final conversation with FauxDelos.

I agree that it's not as likely now as I thought it was then which would then leave Ford as the most likely.
He's the obvious choice. Nothing about this show has felt obvious, though. But yeah, that's where all the money would be headed right now.

But just to mention something I brought up before the season started. In the finale of Season 1, Ford set up this huge party to reveal his new narrative, which culminated in Dolores dying in Teddy's arms after being stabbed by MiB. How would Ford know that MiB would stab Dolores, leading her and Teddy to the beach, if he didn't have some kind of control over MiB's actions? It could be an oversight by the writers of the show but I have yet to see them make mistakes in the story they are telling.

Not sure if it clears anything up but Bernard said the encryption at Delos was the same as what he saw in Abernathy. There must be a bigger use for the data than the James Delos clone. It also doesn't appear that Bernard got the Abernathy data from him but that could change.

The database is the whole of all the research they were doing trying to keep James Delos alive/reincarnated.  It's immortality we're talking here.  MiB gave up on it, but, I'm sure there is a whole host of others that would like to get their hands on it.

Possibly, but from a TV show perspective, that would be a one and done thing. It's taken William 30 years and is still a failure. If the data gets out, there's not much to be shown unless the show jumps ahead in time to when they make it work. I can't help but think there's a more immediate use for the data.

It was only the 149th try, with a single person, and MiB had made the decision man wasn't supposed to live forever.  The advancement on this type of technology seems to be rather exponential and what reason did they have to show us the big prize only to have the Abernathy/Park lock down for something else?  I think the end of the game is whether Ford feels the same as MiB or if he's already immortal.
