***OFFICIAL WIS XIV DRAFT THREAD*** (2 Viewers)

[tre] i have a meeting in 7 mins...can you get me Gene Green, C? [/tre]

For TRE
Thanks, Sammy. I can now add 50s to the list. Every decade from 20s on now covered. Plus, here's his gravestone.

Baseball Reference tells me where dudes are buried. I wish I could search for dead basers in my area. Is that wrong?
Pics of you at the grave site of your WIS players would be top-shelf shtick.
Guy was buried with his mother?:creepy:

We should be into round 20 by this evening.

RnR - I know we have had our differences, but for the good of the world, lets put them aside and start sim living tonight.

19.06- RHP Carl Mays, 1915

I know all about this guy's sim infamy in the past. But IN THIS FORMAT, his low walk rate and 3 and 1/3 AVG IP/G will help mop up crap in the bullpen for me.

Don't dig in against him, he killed a guy.

Only Stocker is platoon guy. Everyone else starts at minimum 130 games.

19 . 4 ( 436 ) Boug D : OF Blefary, Curt
I think Blefary along with Morris are really nice pick ups at this point in the draft. Unlike other drafts this one should stay interesting all the way till the end.
Only thing Blefary is really lacking is high-end BA. But normalization should help him a lot.
One of my oldest and most treasured possessions is a Rawlings XPG-12 Curt Blefary model baseball glove. I remember being disappointed at Xmas when I got it. I really wanted one of the Fastback models that were just coming out. By the time I got the glove, Blefary's career was already in decline. He ended up as a part time catcher (he caught a no hitter) and a Seattle Pilot (he was a bit character in "Ball Four"). Our paths crossed in the late 70s when I was part of the grounds crew at a field in Milwaukee where the top semi-pro softball teams played. Blefary toured with a team from New Jersey. The glove has been through countless organized, disorganized and unorganized games; it's caught balls thrown, hit and bounced off walls; and it's accompanied me from grade school to middle age. It's been a fixture of every house and apartment I've ever lived in. I think it's ridiculous for grown-ups to take a glove to big league games, so it's been a while since ol' Curt has been to see a game. I'm going to have to bare hand it if one's hit my way now.

They really don't make gloves like they used to. The gloves my son has had must have come from mangy cows. The old gloves were constructed to last a lifetime (or until they got left at the park or fell off the back of a bike). When we used to play co-ed softball together, Mrs. Eephus sent it off to the Gloveman to get completely refurbished, so it's good for the rest of my days.

About two weeks ago, I was looking for my son's soccer shin guards and found my mitt. I haven't used it for a couple of years so it needed some love. I greased it up and laid it carefully on top of the sports equipment pile. If my arm holds out until my grandkids are born, I'm sure the glove will.

Greco I selects:

19.08 Briah Daubach, 1B/3B/OF 1999

Plays three positions. All of them poorly. Fits the scheme.

Look old man, we don't need to hear about the "Old Days" - I am sure it was nice to listen to the game on the transistor and all before going out for a crazy night drinking malts in the company of women with dresses hiked up to the ankles, but we don't need your ol' man griping here.

I welled up. I've got a Richie Zisk Rawlings Model with similiar travel records.

***UPDATE***

Just got off the phone with HARRRRRR in the clink. Guy cusses a blue streak now. :goodposting:

Harrrr has offered to do the rankings. However, he's having me do a lot of leg work up front numbers-wise. In typical Harrr-fashion, he sold all of this work to me as a learning experience, "If you get me a sheet of each teams with these stats, I'll put together the rankings for you. And you'll learn a thing or two about baseball along the way. No, you can't have my orange drink..."

Side note: I mentioned who the last several picks were and he said, "NOT STARTERS"

So, I'm off to do some calculations.
