Years I've draft a player from so far:'21, '24, '35, '37, '44, '67, '71, '73, '77, '84, '95, '04, '06, '07, '08, '09Two '08s, so a lot of guys from the last decade...interesting. Every decade covered from the 20s until now except '50s.
Shame you missed on Valencia.
He was near the top of the 3B heap for me as a partner for Terry Pendleton. However, that pool is fairly deep compared to others. He's a good pick at this point though, would have been nice to get him.

the year thing made me curious - just for S&G

1893, 1895, 1901, 1903, 1912, 1914, 1921, 1950, 1954, 1964, 1965, 1971, 1977, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2008

Need an 80's guy and a 30's 40's - may draft strictly on this criteria ....

Will let me use Orengo's positional flexibility which is actually pretty important at this point in the draft for me to fill out my roster the way I'd like (namely, by picking the least amount of poisons)

Chick Robitaille, P, 1904 Pirates

Only missing the 50's and 60's from every available decade beginnin in 1899 (Rube Waddell) and ending in 2010 (Carlos Santana).

Do players get injured in this thing?
Not a concern. Maybe once or twice throughout the entire season, you'll have a guy get beaned and sit out the remainder of a game. There are also random times when you will get a guy ejected for arguing balls and strikes, or for fighting. It's pretty infrequent, though. And there are no injuries that carry over from one game to the next -- no 15-day DL or anything like that.

20.19- LHP Billy Wagner, 1996

His wild thing tendencies will fit in perfectly!

Wagner was a natural-born right-handed person, but after breaking his right arm twice in accidents as a young boy, he taught himself to throw baseballs using his left arm by throwing thousands of balls against the wall of a barn, and then fielding the rebounds, and repeating.

Noob question. I know you can go any route you prefer BUT is 12 pitchers or 13 the preferable roster ..TIA
I usually try for 12 but may have to go with 11 this time around. I drafted 13 pitchers in the dice rolling cluster league because I had to keep fishing for SP seasons into the very late rounds.

Sounds like a cop-out, but there's really no right answer here. For a point of comparison, though: in the all-time leagues we've done, I carry 10 pitchers so that I can have a deep bench of "specialty" batters/fielders. That plan's a lot tougher In This Format.

All that really matters is having the innings and ABs covered. The bottom of roster players will probably get more use in this one because there are so many fractional seasons being used, but I don't think the specifc roster numbers matter one way or the other. It all depends on where you need the extra support the most.

Cool thanks. Before I made a "bold" move I wanted to make sure I wasn't being a complete ### and ruining any chance I may have.

We looking for 1500 innings or so?
That's plenty. You can probably get by with less but there's no penalty for having more. Also, sometimes a pitcher normalizes poorly (or just gets hammered by the rule of small samples) and ends up being unusable for anything but mop-up.

1500 is safe though you shouldn't need more than 1400. MY want the wiggle room and a chance for a replacement if one of your starters doesn't work out.
