Team is starting to shape up no d or pitching but I think I will hit in Fulton. I don't think this will be the everyday line up but it is what I have so far:

1.

2. Sheffield .314/.465/.624 42hrs

3. Walker .366/.452/.720 49hrs

4. Mitchell .326/.429/.681 30hrs

5. Clark .266/.441/.553 25hrs

6. Klesco .310/.396/.608 23hrs

7. Blauser .308/.405/.482 17hrs

8. Nevin .269/.352/.527 24hrs

9. Doran .300/.411/.434 7hrs

Pitching staff

Keep it under 5 and we have a chance

At the end of this thing, someone is going to have to spill the beans about what analysis led them to believe that punting pitching was the right strategy. Not saying it's the wrong strategy -- just surprised that something about (a) the 90s era stats and (b) having a salary cap has caused so many drafters to largely defer pitching for so long.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I went hitting 7 of first 8 mainly because I felt like everyone was after different things from the pitchers. Some people were picking awesome OAV guys or K/9 guys or low HR/9 due to the 90's era. In hitting, we're all pretty much after the same thing.... at least that was my thinking based on the fact that hitters have been chosen almost straight down my list and pitchers are being chosen all over the place.

A little worried about the salary, but I needed a guy to play CF and figure I can adjust things elsewhere to fit him in.

I agree, and I will also say I do not know what I'm doing. There are only like 15-20 stand out starters in this period and after that it is pick your poison. I think it will be interesting to see how it plays out as we will all have a 2-4 journeymen type pitchers rounding out the back end of our staffs. I also don't think there really is a scenario where the salary cap comes into play in this format.

USA!!USA!!

250 Innings of keeping it in the ballpark (0.39 HR/9).

I don't like the fact that I'm following the LarryPlan
The LarryPlan has a starting lineup batting .312/.404/.472 with speed and power. All I need to do is keep everyone else under 5 (if not higher) and I'll be ok.

Simple math. 13 players left to select. About 2.5 million available per player. Need about 700 more innings. Bench players most likely won't see much playing time. It's coming together.

How much power could a .472 SLG represent? HR and XBH totals?

I'm slugging .564 right now, and all I'm missing is an OF, a DH and two-fifths of a catcher.

Alan Benes card.

Future Foundation, huh? Didn't quite work out that way.

In 1997, batters hit only .219 against him, and Benes had 160 strikeouts in 161.2 innings. His 2.89 ERA would have placed him tied for the sixth-best ERA than year, but he fell just 1/3 of an inning short of the 162 required innings when he had a shoulder injured that ended his season in late July. At the time of this injury he ranked third in the league in strikeouts.[1]

Benes sat out the majority of the 1998 and 1999 seasons with an arm injury, which would never allow him to return to top form.

I remember thinking we had it made after that Alan Benes season. The next decade was going to be full of Benes-led championships. Oh well.
