With the caveat that it's been a few picks since I updated... 23rd.
Do me do me!
Me too! Me too!
Just post the whole franckings list so everyone can see how bad my team is...
Will do shortly. Kraft just took a guy who is a top 60 pitcher so he should do well.
I used that McQuillan low IP year in the dice rolling sim. He was a very effective closer for me. I would have drafted him a couple of rounds ago but needed the 1900s slot for a SP.

16 . 2 - Kraft - Picked Doby

16. 3 - Larryboy - Not in thread, Skip (really? are you kidding me?)

16 . 4 - Bogart - OTC

16 . 5 - Frosty

16 . 6 - Bradymarino

Ray Blades, PH, 1930s

sorry about getting on so late, I didn't think it would get so far this early.
You shoulda seen when they knocked out 40+ picks over a weekend. I was gobsmacked. Left work Friday, having just picked, thinking I was good until Monday afternoon. Came up "on the clock" mid-afternoon Sunday  Clock was off, but still.

Pace has been impressive.

That's good commissioneering right there.

I was weighing that "how many sim appearances can he go?" that I always seem to forget about going into each rendition. Keep thinking that real-life starters with low real-life GP get dinged at some point past that if their sim GP gets to a certain point, even if thy've been making short appearances (PC 15-20) and have plenty of IP left.

I remember we discussed that in a recent sim draft, and the understanding is that if you draft 40 IP of a short-term SP, you can get 40 or so one-inning appearances without any hit.

16.6- C/PH Don Padgett, 1930s

Free pass to 2nd base for basestealers, but man can he hit. Will give Fisk the occasional breather and serve as my top lefty bat off the bench.

16.10 Dean Palmer, 3B, 1990s

I probably could've waited on this pick but didn't want to take a chance as he's by far my best option to fill in for McGraw.

16.12 Koya takes:Barney Pelty, SP

Been waiting on He or McQuillan (as a starter) for rounds and rounds as there was depth there, but now it's Pelty or a guy one tier below so time to pull the trigger. Probably my #3 ahead of Hershiser not that it really matters.

Thanks. This is the 3B I wanted 6 rounds ago when I realized I should take a bunch of relievers before (or along with) everyone else.

355/407/541 normalized, hit 379/425/575 IRL. Bunch of xbhs and good D. Seems fine for a #7/8 hitter.

Barny! Love Barney in these.

This guy isn't a great hitter but he is versatile as hell and I need something to do with the 50s.

16.17 Alvin Dark, swiss army knife (1950s)

EDIT - decade

Marginally useful LHP. Seven of my last eight picks have been pitchers. I've become a victim of my own strategy.

I wonder if there is film of this?

Dark had a role in one of baseball history's weirdest plays. It took place during a game played on June 30, 1959, between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs.Stan Musial was at the plate, with a count of 3-1. [The Cubs' pitcher's] next pitch was errant, evading [the Cubs' catcher] and rolling all the way to the backstop. Umpire Vic Delmore called ball four, but [the Cubs' pitcher and catcher] contended that Musial foul tipped the ball. Because the ball was still in play, and because Delmore was embroiled in an argument with the catcher and pitcher, Musial took it upon himself to try for second base.

Seeing that Musial was trying for second, Dark ran to the backstop to retrieve the ball. The ball wound up in the hands of field announcer Pat Pieper, but Dark ended up getting it back anyway. Absentmindedly, however, Delmore pulled out a new ball and gave it to [the Cubs' catcher].

[The Cubs' pitcher] finally noticed that Musial was trying for second, took the new ball, and threw it to [the Cubs' second baseman]. [The Cubs' pitcher's] throw flew over [the second baseman's] head into the outfield. Dark, at the same time that [the pitcher] threw the new ball, threw the original ball to shortstop Ernie Banks. Musial, though, did not see Dark's throw and only noticed [the pitcher's] ball fly over the second baseman's head, so he tried to go to third base. On his way there, he was tagged by Banks, and after a delay he was ruled out.
