I have been drafting sans list this whole time.

I try to balance the best value on the board vs. my needs for each selection. I haven't been looking too much at the composition of the other team's picks.

Furthermore, from the looks of the scoring system, I think that strikers and attacking MFs will be more valuable than anyone else. Plus, since this "league" will go on through all rounds, having players reach the final is crucial.
I somewhat agree, but I'm coming from a different angle. I'm thinking it will be easier for a non-expert to pick defensemen who will get clean sheets, be involved in the attack and STAY IN THE TOURNAMENT. It is also pretty easy to pick strikers. If you get the right MF's they might be the highest scorers, but I think they're going to be the hardest to pick out.

Thomas Muller - ST - Deutschland

wanted him as a midfielder; just checked the official roster and he is listed as a forward but I will take him anyway

I get all of this, but luck is huge. In only 3 group games, anything can happen aside from the low chance of some teams scoring and the high chance of others with known top weapons. Even for the defenders chosen who push up the field or are targets on corners, whether or not they score a goal or get an assist is entirely luck in such a short span. Some defender will score twice in a match and be a huge difference.I really have no idea what to expect. I do think who advance will be huge with the extra points just in playing a match.

Especially true if you wait until after the 8th round.
 fine...9.3 Raul Meireles - MF - PorI might be overreacting, but I was holding off on my last 2 picks due to concern about making it through groups. With Drogba likely out, I'm more confident in having Portugal players.

Thiago Silva - D - Brazil
Good pick.I'm bummed that I probably won't have a Brazilian starter on my team.
I have Nilmar if you're looking to trade.
He said starter.
Hey I didn't say I knew what I was doing in case you couldn't tell I'm winging it, have no idea about anything soccer, for all I know I could get lucky or finish dead last. With a team like:Cristiano RonaldoMiroslav KloseNilmarJulio BaptistaGareth Berry James MilnerShaun-Wright PhillipsSergio RomeroDo you honestly think I know what the hell I'm doing?

Deco MF Portugal
Out of form for over 2 years, but still a quality player. If he can regain even 1/2 of his former skills, he's a great pick in the 9th round.
I saw that he's been starting for the national team the last few games. We decided to take a chance on him, especially with Drogba banged up.
He still gets that starts for their team, but he's not the player he once was. That said, he plays better for Portugal than he has for his clubs over the last few years.

Text me if I come up.

Clock will be off on the weekend.

Please continue to check in and make picks though - we are making great time, but can't let things slip too much over the weekend.

Also, no trades during the cup. Any trade needs to be finalized before the first kickoff.
