He has an excellent arm for a center fielder. However, every metric has him as average at best in CF. Fielding bible, UZR, fielding runs.Iat people who say hes a bad CFer.

I was trying to say the same thing. Didn't come off right. I meant that if Abreu plays at his absolute ceiling AROD will still have better stats with an average season.Abreu would be an MVP candidate on any other team. The problem with him is that he will always get overshadowed by what AROD does.Wait. Were you serious?Abreu is overshadowed by Arod becasue Arod is 100 times the player he is.Last yearAbreu .283 .369 .445 114+ 16HR 101RBIArod .314 .422 .645 177+ 54HR 156RBIAbreu was fortunate to get any votes for MVP last year. He is a good player, no doubt, but he is no MVP candidate.
His pitching wasn't bad...of course he got no run support at all. He was late to cover first that one time as well and by the look on his face, I think he knew it. Unfortunately all the other baseball boards are tearing him up already. Oh well...can't wait to see how Hughes does tonight!Moose not too terrible last night. If he can remember just a little more what made him a good pitcher he is a good 5 guy.I actually took him with the last pick in the draft - pick number 250. Figured, WTH, he could be the old moose. With the offense his wins are going to be 7-6 ones though, which kills every category except wins. Might have to cut him by the end of the month if there isn't a little improvement.

I thought he didn't do roids?Thomas pissed. You can take one of those pitches with two strikes, but you can't take two in a row
And Marcum is no slouch either. Add a dominant bullpen and Id say the Jays have the best pitching in the AL.The East is ridiculous. The Jays top-3 probably is as good as any team's.
That should not be a hit.ARod and Cano flashing the glove tonight
What a moron. He still pisses me off how he says Abreu's name. Its not AbrehuAnybody else hear O'Neill slip tonight when talking about Bobby Murcer? Kay was giving an update and saying how Murcer was telling him he was going to definitely be there next opening day. So O'Neill chimes in and says something to the effect of, "You can learn so much from people that are dying". I suppose it COULD just be that he mistakenly said something, but my guess is that they know something that the rest of us don't but aren't saying anything yet. I mean, it'd be pretty odd to describe someone as "dying" if they're getting healthier, right?Hopefully it was just O'Neill saying something dumb and not a slip on the condition of Bobby.![]()
to the ignorant NY Post for calling the Yankees sluggish just cuz they scored 8R in the series. They won 2 out of 3 and the Jays are one of the top staffs in baseball.i find it funny actually. The writers that question the Yanks' playoff chances because of tough the division has gotten are the same writers who complain because the yanks didnt sweep and score 8 runs a game. Thats the NY media for you. Gotta be happy with the first series. Hughes looked great last night, although I'd like see that fast ball up around 94-95 like it was touted while he was coming up. Thats obviously nit picking though./Pretty impressed with the Yanks winning this series with the way the Jays have been pitching. Thats a pretty impressive staff they got there. Seems like we got a few timely errors, bloop singles, and fielding choices but a win is a win.Doesnt look like tonights game will get in cuz its supposed to rain all day.And

I just dont think he throws 94/95. I think we'll see his velocity at around 91/92 getting it up to about 93 with some more arm strength. But the fact of the matter is his fastball is still somewhat explosive and pops the glove and his delivery is so free and easy which makes it appear harder than it is.i find it funny actually. he was still productive last year. Not a fantasy stud, but he's still a good situational hitter. His defense stinks though. What's everyone thoughts on Matsui?I absolutely loved him when he first came on board, probably the most clutch hitter the Yanks had and the guy you wanted at the plate with RISP.However, ever since his wrist injury he has been mediocre at best.Hopefully he pulls it all together but I have my doubts.![]()

sigh......does Jeter look really slow to you?
C'mon....act like you've been there be... nevermind. These are your World Series games. Have fun.Capella said:The guard, it is a'changin'
He wasn't too bad, got out of trouble a few times, but Gomes hit a change up out for a HR (barely) and that was 3 run shot. He was clearly unhappy with his performance in the post game and said he didn't have his cutter at all and couldn't throw the curveball for a strike. Our bats are still cold.I had to work yesterday and didn't get to the game. How did Pettitte look?

There's a good chance the Rays will be playing lots of WS games over the next 5-10 years.Your old creaky team...not so much.C'mon....act like you've been there be... nevermind. These are your World Series games. Have fun.Capella said:The guard, it is a'changin'

But seriously, folks.....They do have alot of talent...I don't think anyone would deny that. But the Tigers, Indians, Yankees and RedSox also have young talent....plus I would figure a bigger payroll to spend on talent. The playoffs in the AL is going to be a real ##### for the next 3 to 6 years. Now if the Rays were in the NL......Hilarious when a Raiders fan tries to crack on your team for being inept.Even the Arizona Cardinals laugh at them for being sorry.Either way Faider, you should probably back out here. The Rays have a ton of talent, deal with it.
I'm not LOL at that... I'm LOL at your "5-10 years" statement. Why not just predict a Rays WS win in the next 40-50 years and really increase your odds.Hilarious when a Raiders fan tries to crack on your team for being inept.Even the Arizona Cardinals laugh at them for being sorry.

What does it say?I found this:NEW YORK – Joe Girardi didn’t say no. Joe Torre would have.
Now, this is not to compare Girardi and Torre, not in a mano-a-mano fashion at least, but one that deals with today’s reality in the New York Yankees universe: Suggestions that Alex Rodriguez move to shortstop if the strained left quadriceps that forced Derek Jeter out of a game Monday lingers.
Well thats incorrect as every other source says quad including this mornings Post.NEW YORK -- Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter left Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after two innings with a strained left groin, a Yankees source told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
Duncan comes back tomorrowWhether it be his groin, his quad or his beanbag....it weakens an already thin bench. If Giambi is back....you can get away with having to start one of Betiment or Ensberg. If he's not....then you have to go with both.
