**Official YANKEES 2009 Thread** (1 Viewer)

Let's sum things up regarding the people who "aren't trolling"... but rather "stating the obvious" about the Yankees:

I just browsed through the ***OFFICIAL*** Red Sox thread. All 21 or 22 posts of it. Only one Yankee fan has typed a word in there. Mike Brown. And he wasn't stirring #### up. He was merely reporting the news of Beckett's suspension.

Compare that to this thread. There are more non-Yankee fans who post in here than Yankee fans who post in here.

Why is that? Jealously. Plain and simple.

We don't post in the Red Sox thread because the Red Sox don't matter. They are still the "Little Engine That Could" to the north... a spunky little bunch who happened to get lucky twice since 2004. A team which had been an afterthought for a century prior to that point. Yaz and Rice and Lynn and Tiant and Fisk are irrelevant. They were losers... but LOVABLE ones!!!!!11 History views them no differently than the roster of the '06 Royals.

Nothing has changed.

Now continue trolling away while secretly jacking off to your Jeter poster. :banned:

The problems with the Yankees extends much deeper than Girardi. The entire organization is p.o.s. and makes me embarrassed to be a fan of the team.
Its time to fire Cashman. I dont think Girardi is a great manager or anything but theres not much he can do with the crappy bench and ####ty bullpen and lack of athleticism Cash has ignored over the years. For a $200m payroll you would think those spots would be deep. Im also ready to firs Lonn Trost and Randy Levine for running this organization to the ground and embarrassing many of us life long fans.

You spent about 10 minutes too long on your in depth research.Who cares? It's a baseball forum.

You may find Finless to be a troll, but he's one of the most knowledgeable baseball insiders we have here. Any advice he gives in this thread, you should heed and ignore with caution. And if you ever have a face to face with Girardi, you'd be doing the Yanks a disservice by not presenting him with the insider take from Fin.

:pickle: These two are a couple of worthless pieces of garbage. Levine is obviously the worst human being alive, and Trost's comments the other day about the field level area before gametime was disgusting.

For those who haven't heard, I'll paraphrase what he said. He was asked about fans getting to go in the first few rows of the stadium during batting practice. You know, like they've done for a hundred years. Maybe they'll get an autograph. Maybe they'll catch a BP foul ball as I did, one of the coolest thrills a 9 year old can have. When he was asked about fans going into those first few rows even though they didn't have tickets in those seats, here was his response.

"Those fans didn't buy those tickets. People have paid for their luxury suites. If you paid for a suite, would you want other people to sit in it? If you bought a house, would you want people going in it?"

:hot:

Something to that effect. What a moron. I don't think it'll upset the wine and cheese crowd if Little Paulie is sitting in their shiny new seat trying to get a ball signed by Nick Swisher.

Or... 9 more minutes than I actually spent researching anything.

 I wouldn't waste my time worrying about Girardi at this point. Randy Levine would be my first casualty and work my way down from there.

LOL @ u haters. Yankees R gettin healthy. Teixerra is a STUD 2nd half player. A-Rod is getting healthy. Should be the BEST offense in the league. Once Wang gets right, that rotation will be NASTY with a capital N.

1) CC

2) AJ

3) Pettitte

4) Wang

5) Hughes/Joba

That's some serious DEPTH. Joba could go to the pen and it will be LIGHTS OUT after the 7th inning. So what if they played .500 ball for the first month? This team is poised. I'm predicting 115 wins and they will cruise to the WS.

So I have to ask. The Red Sox are 5 or 6 games up on the Yanks and have had Dice-K, Pedroia, and Youk out with a minor leaguer having to play shortstop. They've been playing guys named Green, Bailey, and Van Every. Big Papi has been INVISIBLE. Lester, Beckett, and Penny have ERAs in the sixes. You don't think think that they won't do any better heading forward? They also have Smoltz, Buchholz, and Bowden waiting in the wings and a number of guys in AAA in the bullpen with low ERAs and WHIPs. And the Yankees are the ones that will win 115 games?

Since you mentioned it, New York would have to go 100-30 the rest of the way (.769). I'll take the under if the win total for them is 115.
Let's chat Yuker. Clearly this isn't the red sox thread, but you want to know why I'm more optimistic about the yankees than the sox. Let me address some of your points.Dice-K will be back, and replacing Masterson in the rotation. Problem is that Masterson is a BETTER starter than DiceK! That's subtraction by addition. Papi is on a SHARP decline that started last season. I don't see the Yankee sluggers declining to the same degree (this year). Pedroia is a nice little player, but he's not going to have another MVP season for you guys. Players that are 5'8 160 lbs aren't offensive powerhouses. It just doesn't happen. Lester and Beckett should improve, but Penny is cooked, and Smoltz is already eyeing the PGA tour. You have to agree that Wakefield is going to come back to earth as well. There is room for improvement for the Red Sox, but they don't have the TREMENDOUS UPSIDE POTENTIAL that the Yankees have.
:bag: What else do you know.

Quiet in here tonight.
Don't go there, please. It's embarrassing. So, we beat Scott Richmond and the Blue Jays. Forgive me if I don't do cartwheels over this.
Thank you for proving my point then about how we shouldn't get our panties in a bunch when we lose to Roy Halladay either.
That loss to Halladay put the Yanks 2 games under .500. Under no circumstances should a $200+ million team and sub-.500 record coexist, unless the money is spent foolishly and the team is completely mishandled. What I don't understand about my fellow Yankee fans is why you continue to defend this and aren't outraged by how ####### idiotic this has become. It's not like some of us are over-reacting to the first 30 games. We're reacting to 3-4 years of sheer stupidity that keeps repeating itself.

Because I'm going to let the season play out before I jump off the cliff. As far as the past three or four seasons go...only 08 stands out as a glaring mistake. 2008 - Didn't make the playoffs2007 - Made the playoffs, (WC) made an incredible comeback throughout the season.2006 - Won the Division...lost in the playoffs. 2005 - Won the Division...lost in the playoffs.Would I have liked to see them win the World Series each of these years? Of course. Do I understand baseball enough to realize how tough that is? Absolutely. The money means nothing to me. I don't care that their payroll is that high. The players on the field don't care. They don't make excuses and say "ohh we would have beat the Yanks....but they have a high payroll".

They've had a ton of injuries and key players have slumped, and all they did tonight was that they lost to one of the best pitchers of this era. The team doesn't stink.
Seriously, why bother with this? How about we pick tonight to stop feeding the trolls. I'm as guilty as anyone, BTW.If Fin, Capella, Wilked and any other non-Yankee fan wants to invade this thread... let them talk amongst themselves from now on.
It's the baseball forum? You Yanks fans need some thicker skin. When you're team is an abomination and you're underachieving as you have consistently done for the past 8 or 9 years
You kinda lost me right here. If you want to say they've underachieved since last April, I'm with you. But failing to win the World Series is a far cry from underachieving. What if they had won it once - would that mean they didn't underachieve all the times they didn't win? That's a very flawed stance. They made the playoffs all but one of those years you're referring to. Any time you make the playoffs, you haven't underachieved. Even if you lose and get swept in the first round. As I've said about a million times before, it just means you didn't play as well during that 3-5 game stretch...that's baseball.
I agree. I don't understand this idea that non Yankees fans have about Yankee fan expectations.
Because every other fanbase takes payroll into consideration when setting their expectations.

Mutt fans will pimp Johan, and I guess he's a pretty good pitcher(anyone looks better in the NL), but I don't think you'd see many efforts like that out of him and THATS what I had in mind when they signed CC. No net in the bullpen, CC takes the ball in the 8th when he's gassed and faces two righty sticks batting 3-4(Rios and Wells!!!) and he gets them. A couple of loud outs, but he didn't break. Man if THIS is the CC they're going to get, I'm pretty pumped for the rest of the season. BIG inning in a BIG outing.

Foghat kicks ###!

You would have thought they won the league championship last night. I guess the wins have been really scarce lately.

Who hit A-rod with the shaving cream pie during his interview? :D

I couldn't see. My guess would be Swisher or Damon. I was laughing my #### off.

It's an A-BOMB... from A-ROD!
4 for 26 since coming backyippy
HE'S ON THE WAY BACK BABY!!!!!.... ONE OF THOSE 4 WAS A WALK OFF JACK!!!!!!!!

Uh, is the guy that roots for Sammy Sosa's team calling someone A-Roid?

AJ Burnett did it the night before to Melky so Im assuming it was him again

3 walkoffs in a row! 3 whip cream pies in a row! 5 wins in a row! The bullpen still sucks but the starters are pitching like we expected, the lineup is hitting alot better. Aceves is pretty good out of the pen. Im starting to get excited again!

Wow, 3 walk off wins in a row, what a weekend! The announcers said that hadn’t happened in the last 25 years. Great stuff for us!

There were a lot of interesting calls that could have been made over these games, but none were as surprising as Gardenhire’s decision to keep Blackburn in to face Texiera on Saturday in the 8th inning. Blackburn was at his pitch limit (over 100) and was slowing down AND Texiera was 3-3 against him with a double and a homer so it is obvious Tex was seeing the ball well against him. Right after Tex got his it, Blackburn came out, but that was a horrible decision by a manager and it wasn’t because it didn’t work.

Sunday’s game was fun as well, but also had some frustration. First, I must say that Cash had a very poor game behind the plate and he struggled receiving the ball (something I was complimentary of prior). Second, the Matsui AB with the bases loaded in the 8th was weak as well. He gets a 3-0 count on him and the pitcher was obviously aiming the ball to get strike 1 in. On the 3-1 count you need to be prepared to what zone you are looking for a pitch and Matsui swung at a low pitch. Strike 3 was very much outside and should have been ball 4; that was very weak. Third, someone at Yes needs to get their radar gun taken care of as it is WAY off on most of the pitches and it is driving me nuts because I love to see the amount the pitchers are changing speeds.

The Gardner play (where he tried to score form 2nd when the ball ricocheted off the pitcher (or the mound) was an OK play. With 1 out you really want to make sure you can make it so it probably was over aggressive, but let’s also give credit to Mauer for a fantastic play. BTW, does anyone really know which on is Mauer and which one is Morneau? I have no clue and couldn’t tell you who hit the homers J

I love walk off wins…BTW, the Mariners walked off against the Red Sox today so while the Yanks are still 4.5 out, and they are only 1.5 behind the Red Sox. Toronto has really played well, but I am still more worried about the Red Sox; plus the Red Sox are the team that would stop the Yankees from making the playoffs as the Wild Card is the season ended today.

ACEves won the last two games!

Bruney and Wang appear to be close to returning, Posada is rehabbing and is probably a few weeks away and Nady will start rehab assignment soon and we could use another righty off the bench (even if he can’t field).

People can criticize ARod all they want, I said it before and I will keep saying, the Yankees are a much better team with him than without him!

Oh, and it was great too see the genius maker (Rivera) strut his stuff even after 2 innings the prior night.

I was away at a wedding all weekend and only caught highlights of Friday/Saturday :kicksrock: , but we got back home in time to go to this afternoon's game. Great stuff Johnny D!

Agreed with the previous about Cash looking pretty crappy behind the dish. I still haven't seen the Gardner play on replay yet, but we were all calling him a moron for attempting it with one out. They got a huge gift and just threw it away on that one. The pen bent but didn't break - great job Tomko getting out of that mess, though not sure how much of it was him and how much was hitters getting themselves out. He's always had great stuff, hey maybe he found a niche (probably not though).

Looks like this team is starting to put together a nice extended run here, great walkoff wins all in a bunch like that AND they were trailing all three games in the 7th inning or later if I'm not mistaken. Guess our season's not over after all.

I would be in here talking about what a great weekend the Yanks had but all non-die hard Yankee fans were told we were trolls and we wouldnt be entertained if we came into this thread. Now that you're winning do you want the non-Yankee fans back in the thread? Pick one - can't have it both ways.
Listen, I'm as diplomatic a guy as you'll find around here with regards to other fans...but let's stop pretending that you guys went away simply because RN asked you to...

Sup? Been saying it for months now. The Yankees have the most talent in baseball. That's why I scratch my head when the lose so many games. With their payroll they should win 135 games.
