How long is Leyland going to leave Perry out there for?*******. I hate that SOB
He has no problem trying to drive every other pitcher into the ground, but Bondy can't come out for the 8th with only 93 pitchers? Then he has Coke and Zoom in the bullpen ready to go and he leaves in Perry long enough to blow Bondy's W.Guy is an idiot.

;) Unbelievably terrible managing by Leyland. He just cost the Tigers a win in a very tight race. Unreal.

Tough loss and to make things worse we end up getting swept by Seattle without having to face Felix or Lee.

I was driving home from work and it was 4-1. By the time I picked up my son from daycare, got into my house and turned the game on it was 5-4. I couldn't believe it.

Bullpen was due to blow a game I guess and the Tigers have had so many come backs lately that they were due to have one against them.

From the sound of things Leyland left Perry in too long. So I am glad I didn't see the debacle as it unfolded. Makes no sense for him not to use Zumaya if Perry was getting knocked around considering they have an off day tomorrow and the team was off two days earlier.

The soft part of the schedule is coming up so hopefully they can bounce back starting with this homestand.

:goodposting: Huge Leyland supporter but terrible handling of that inning. Leave Bondo in or yank Perry after the hit that followed the home-run. Letting Perry self-destruct was the only glaringly obvious thing to not do.

Dontrelle Willis was designated for assignment. The guy just could not consistently throw strikes.

Scherzer is being called back up and will pitch today.

Word is they may be going after Oswalt. :crossesfingers:

Brandon Inge doubled twice and homered today, and to think some Tiger fans don't love him??????????????
I don't get it. You know exactly what you're going to get from him - great defense, below average (but powerful) bat, and 100% effort everyday out.Is it Inge's fault the Tigers can't find a better 3B and put him at a position where his bat would be better suited, shortstop.

I'm okay with Inge, it's Everett and Laird that I can't stand. But it's not as if three XBHs are exactly the norm with him. Come back when he goes 0-for-5 with 3 in-field pop flies.

Got to Comerica this weekend.

You guys have one hell of a ballpark. I'm in the process of letting the experience sink in, but I think it might be my favorite out of all of the ballparks I've been to.

I love Comerica because it's where the Tigers play. PNC is better though. Too bad they have a crap team.

I would still like the Tigers to sign Washburn to a cheap contract for this year, if possible. I don't think Galarraga is the answer as the No. 5 and, if he does falter, I don't know what option we have left with Nate and Dontrelle already gone, Miner out for the season, and Figaro getting beaten like a drum in his brief stint vs. New York.

Tigers really need to have a strong June and pick up some W's with teams like Cleveland, KC, Pitt, Washington, Arizona, and Mets coming up on the schedule.

Of the parks I've been to PNC is the only competition. Big fan of Petco too, but it's 3rd.

I'm a big fan of taking advantage of off days & rainouts to minimize the use of 5th starters, just keep the other 4 on every 5th day whenever possible.

Fifth starters are almost completely irrelevant. You just plug and play with whoever is on hand. And there is absolutely no chance that the Tigers go get Washburn. He was a total disaster here and is the last person the fans want to see toeing the rubber.

Understood. Considering we lost a play-in game last year -- every game counts IMO which is why I would like to see the best pitcher possible going out every fifth day. I am hoping for the best from Galarraga and at least he will be an upgrade over Dontrelle. But, if we could get someone better at No. 5 at the right price for this season we need to do so.

Does it bother anyone else when Leyland plugs a guy in the same lineup spot as the guy he is playing for on a given day?

For example, putting Raburn at the 5 slot when he played for Boesch this weeekend. I just don't get why he wouldn't just reshuffle the lineup to put the best order out there instead of designating a particular spot in the order all year as the "whoever is starting in RF spot." Now, he's done that forever but I can't figure out why he does it that way.

Tigers need to get Oswalt. The word out of the Twins camp is that MN looked at Oswalt, but the price was two TOP prospects from the farm plus dealing with Oswalt making 29M through next year which is to much for the Twins, since their about at 100m now for payroll. The Tigers have some nice prospects (pitching to throw at deal for Oswalt) and the money should be no big deal for the Tigers.

I'd rather get another bat that can play the infield, but Oswalt wouldn't hurt either.
:tinfoilhat: The pitching is pretty good. They need a SS that can hit. move Inge to C and get a 3rd baseman that can hit also. Word is that DD already asked about Oswalt and the price was 2 high.

Gardenhire does this all the time too. Drives me crazy.

I don't think moving Inge to C is the answer. The guy hates playing there and his hitting suffers when he is behind the plate.

A SS or 3B (with Inge maybe moved to SS) might the only player they could bring in.

Can some homers chime in on Boesch? How for real is this kid? I'm feeling like I got steal grabbing him off waivers but I'm wondering if he's fool's gold.

ROYALS 7, TIGERS 3: Detroit's only sign of offensive life was a three-run home run by rookie DH Brennan Boesch. Few expected right-hander Max Scherzer to be as dominant as he was in his last start — and he wasn't. The velocity on his fastball was there but not with the same late life it had in his 14-strikeout start. Boesch greeted righty Kyle Farnsworth with a three-run first-pitch home run but righty Ryan Perry gave up three straight run-scoring hits after getting two outs in relief of Scherzer in the sixth. "That killed us," manager Jim Leyland said.

Boesch and Jackson will give the Tigers a great pair of players for a long time. Scherzer didn't have juice last night, be interesting to see which Scherzer shows up on his next start.

What's the deal with Zumaya? Leaves after throwing 6 pitches (all balls)
After the game Leyland said a callous ripped open, but that they should be able to file it down and he'll likely be okay to pitch tomorrow.
I was wondering about two weeks ago when Zumaya would have his first injury of the season. Every season he, Bonderman, and Guillen get hurt it's only a matter of when. At least it's only a blister and not something more serious.Nice to see Papa Grande come in to put the game away (and he only needed about 15 pitches to get it done so hopefully he can go today, if necessary). Would've been a terrible loss to blow a 4-0 lead to KC late. Need to win this series today.

Schlereth has been pitching well in Toledo. I wonder when he gets his chance. Perry has the "deer in headlights" look lately. If he keeps it up, maybe they bring up Schlereth and let Perry work on things down in Toledo a la Scherzer.

Cabrera is the best offensive player in MLB right now, and it just hitting his prime.

That rade will go down in history as one of the great ones of all time! Miller is back in the minors and Maybin is still struggling to learn the game. Saw Maybin the other night and he does not look like a natural BB player at all. I would take A-Jax all day over Maybin.

Everett DFA'd

Finally. He is absolutely terrible and I would rather see Santiago there every day than Everett. Looks like Santiago and Worth will split time.
I would rather go with 8 players than have Everett in the lineup. Now we need to get rid of Inge and Laird.
Avila should be starting four out of five games. I'm not saying he's the long term answer, but at least he's hitting better than Laird and we could finally see what Avila could be as an every day player.
