If Tampa wins WC game, Tigers and Boston play if the Tigers are the third seed.

After tonight the third seed is probable, Tigers now 9-8 vs the Twins this year and that was a terrible loss. Veras walking Clete Thomas types is painful, he and ####ty hitting lost the game tonight. So 21-15 vs the White Sux and Twins, there is the reason they are once again going to have to start a series on the road. They should be able to win 4 or these last five this week, but they might go into Florida having to win two games for the division at this rate.

####, I forgot about that and you are correct! Only thing is Oakland could tie Boston tonight for the #1 seed. Those teams split their season series so I guess it would go to AL record?

Well they clinched a playoff berth for the third straight year, I'll take it but we need one more for the division. Need one more win in September, and 11 in October.

Rondon just looks ridiculous, he needs to be pitching the 8th in the playoffs with Veras having control issues. I am "re-warming" to AlAl, he is getting some big outs in some clutch spots. With him and Rondon both effective vs lefties, no need for any other bullpen lefty other than Smyly. If you want another lefty, Alvarez would be ok. Seems like they'll keep 11 pitchers so Max, JV, Dirty, Fister, Porky, Smyly, Veras, AlAl, Rondon and Benoit is 10. Alvarez, Bondo, Downs and Coke in that order for the last spot.

Bench would be Peralta, Kelly, Santiago, Pena and who? Tuiasasopo I guess but he's been awful lately, too bad Castellanos didn't shine in his time with the team.

Scouts saying Peralta has looked good in drills in LF, but still no game action. He'll play a game in Lakeland Thursday, then is eligible to play for the Tigers Friday in Miami. They need to get him in those last three games and let him play LF.

Sounds like Iglesias could play tomorrow, but probably won't play until Friday.

With Peralta back, what purpose does Santiago really serve? He is only a stop gap if there are multiple injuries to infielders, but Peralta can serve that role. I would rather see Tuiasasopo and Castellanos. They are both superior pitch hitting options over Santiago.

i have no expectations that this team will advance beyond the alds. I just couldn t handle another collapse in the final week. people may not realize it but had they not folded in '06 & '09 the tigers would have just won their FIFTH division title in the last seven years. with miggy hurting I dont see how this team advances.

Terry Foster basically said yesterday That he has heard from inside team sources that Miggy needs at least 8 weeks off to recover to be back to 100% and that not playing this weekend or a game here and there basically does nothing to help his lower ab strain. Plus the fact that he is also dealing with leg injuries is compounding the problem. Also that everytime Leyland wants to sit him Miggy says "No" A 15 day DL stint may have helped but who knows?

It is obvious that Miggy is nowhere near 100% and Sept was one of his worst months ever as a Tiger. Hopefully the weekend off will help somewhat..but with this type of injury every swing aggravates it.

Wasn't sure of your message. I'm wondering if Max was deliberately gunning for the K's last night, knowing he needed a high count to be at 10 K/9 ...which led to a higher number of walks as well. I think he's the first to ever achieve this feat.

Anyway - great to see the divisional championship again. Now let's see how the playoffs shape up.

Interesting to see Hunter and VMart battling back and forth with BA and RBIs. I bet they're having some fun in the clubhouse debating who's going to finish on top. I'd like to see Miggy top 140 RBIs.

3 Games left.....won the series against Boston, but lost against Oakland. Need to pick up three games on the Red Sox and two games on the A's. Not likely. Looks like they are locked into the #3. The only plus is the Tigers should be able to sweep Miami, and Boston and Oakland do have tougher series against Baltimore and Seattle.

Good point. I was surprised they started Alvarez last night ...kind of like Leyland didn't care if they won. But they still had a viable shot at slipping by Oakland.
