For what he gave up for him I hated the deal. What has Fister done his last 2 starts? He got bombed his last outing and before the rain washed the Game before that, I think he gave up 2 runs in 2 innings pitched. So far it's been a terrible move, but we will see over the next 6 weeks.

So are we going to wait and see or are you going to declare that it's a horrendous trade? You kind of seem to be trying to do both.

Fister has a 6.14 ERA and 1.7 whip in 3 starts. That's why it makes me sick to hear about that trade. Is Fister going to pitch at the 3.3 ERA we traded for or the 6 we are getting?. That's where the wait and see comes in. Assuming we make the playoffs, Fister needs to be a strong #2. Max should be a 2, but he is just a 3 at best and Rick is a 4.

Fister awesome again today, guy is an innings eater who can deliver big game performances when the team needs it so far.

He got cut short with the rain delay in Cleveland and then had a horrible outing. But otherwise he has been eating innings with quality starts, as you say. Great job today ...with the bullpen pitching well, it's good that pulled him after 7 with about 100 pitches. No need to push further.I was a bit surprised they didn't let Benoit continue on. Three Ks in the eighth, despite the double.

I know I've been the boo hoo guy around here for awhile but this streak has got me excited. They have played out of their minds in close games and Fister has shown some toughness his last two starts. I still hate that Leyland benches 3 big bats and then bats Don Kelly ahead of Peralta. The faster they seal it the more time for rest there will be. Good win though. The pitching, sans Porcello who I am starting to lose faith in, has been out of this world.

I'm not a big Leyland fan either...and Kelly batting before Peralta makes zero sense. But he had little choice in benching the 3 players he did. Boesch is hurt. Cabrera was not here because of his wife having a baby. Avila could have played...but he has played 18 games in a row and the Tigers had the opportunity to call up a catcher for the one game Cabrera missed, so I have no problem with that. Today is a big start for Porcello. I have to wonder if the Tigers will think about picking up another starter if Porcello struggles again.

I was actually happy he sat Avila and didn't find out about Cabrera until this morning so it makes sense (not the Don Kelly thing though). I honestly hope we don't see Porcello in the playoffs with how inconsistent he has been to this point. He would have to have a hell of a September to change my opinion on that.

Red hot since that Delmon Young trade. He has solidified the lineup and now gives us a true hitter ahead of Miggy. Pitching has been absolutely stellar as of late.

I don't recall the Tigers losing a lead as of late. Perhaps the extra inning game, but even that there was an infield hit and another play that Inge could have made which allowed the run.

In his two weeks in Detroit he has had more big hits than Mags all year. It is nice to have a guy hitting in the 3rd spot who can drive in runs and not end innings. With the upgrade in the lineup and the pitchers all pitching well, Detroit is going to be no push over for Boston or New York. Not that Detroit is better than either of those, but I am starting to like their chances.

It had nothing to do with being tired, his location wasn't there. As Verlander has developed his #1 issue has been location and the high pitch innings he gets in to. He has largely avoided those this year because he has four plus pitches and he is locating them all for strikes. With his mechanics, conditioning, experience and mindset it will be tough to wear him down. He was throwing 100 in the 7th his last three starts, he's not tired he just isn't perfect. Agreed. Even though he stifled the Rays in his previous game, his location was a little off in that one too. I don't think his arm is tired. Mentally though, with all the attention he is getting and scrutiny placed on every outing, he might be a tad fatigued.In a perfect world the Tigers won't have to rely on him as heavily as they have down the stretch. I'd love to see him get some extra rest before the post-season--in the last week or so at least. It's way to early to hope for that. I just don't want to see him get burned out when the Tigers' chances in the playoffs are entirely dependent on him.

I'm not denying that Delmon has played well. I just don't believe he can keep it up over a full season. If he hits .297, his OBP will be .299. He's a complete hacker. It just drives me crazy.And he's a disaster in LF. Routine flyballs are an adventure.

With Mags in RF routine flyballs are an adventure. Today was ooof. Not that Mags was ever known for his fielding but today reminded me of Mays playing for the Mets at the end of his career and having no range anymore.

No matter what Dr D likes to think, the kid just ain't a #2 yet. He has the stuff to be, it's just not there yet.Long story short, he's the poster child for why the White Sox rotation > Tigers rotation.
