Enter Ryan Raburn

I knew this would happen. They really need to #### can Leyland. In a season that may come down to a single game, he's done more to help this team lose games than win them. A failure to make the playoffs falls right on his shoulders - stupid/stubborn moves like this throughout the year, and a failure to fire Lloyd. I love how they waste no time giving Baker a ticket out of town but Raburn not only stays but is going to play in the most significant series of the season next week. He has certainly earned it with his great performance this season and one pitch out at bat while pinch hitting yesterday. A fantastic idea to possibly play him in the field as well when he admits he's only 70-75% - as if he was a good fielder when he could run at a 100%.
I am sooooo sick of this

/end rant.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Ryan Raburn made his first appearance Friday night for the Detroit Tigers since July 31.
It was a small role that is expected to be much larger Saturday night.
Tied at 2-all, Raburn pinch-hit for Ramon Santiago with two outs in the seventh inning. He responded by grounding out on the first pitch he saw from Angels right-hander Garrett Richards.
"I took a shot in the seventh, just to maybe try to run into one," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "Maybe a two-out, two-run homer."
Raburn had been sidelined with a right quad injury since being recalled from his rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Sept. 1.
“I still feel it a little bit, but I think I’ll be good enough,” said Raburn prior to Friday's game. “I told the trainer I think I'm good to go.”
Leyland said he would check on Raburn following Friday's game, but discussed
plans to pencil him into Saturday's starting lineup, either in left field or at DH.
"At least let him see a little pitching before he plays in the game (Saturday)," said Leyland about using him as a pinch-hitter Friday. "He's going to play either DH or play in the outfield."
With left-hander C.J. Wilson set to start Saturday night for the Angels, Leyland said it's a good opportunity to start Raburn. In an effort to stack the lineup with right-handed hitters, Leyland also said rookie Avisail Garcia will likely play in right field.
"Garcia will be in right against the lefty and hopefully Raburn can play left field," Leyland said. "If not, I'll probably play Delmon out there and maybe DH Raburn. I'm not sure yet.
"I need to get Raburn a few at-bats if he's going to play against the lefties in Chicago and (Saturday) will be a good day to do that."
As it stands, the Tigers are expected to face three left-handed starters during their four-game series in Chicago starting Monday.
Prior to Friday's game, Leyland said he wasn’t entirely sure how close Raburn was to a full recovery, but admitted the 31-year-old wasn’t “burning it up” during his light pregame jog in the outfield.
“Raburn is still sore,” Leyland said.
Raburn agreed.
"I can run on it about 70-75 percent, and that feels good," he said. "But when I try to push it even more, that's when it starts to grab a little bit."
A notorious slow starter, Raburn’s first-half struggles haven't disappeared in the second half.
He’s hitting .172 with one home runand 12 RBIs for the Tigers this year and a couple nagging injuries have certainly prevented him from trying to right the ship.
“This whole year in general has been out of whack and hasn't been very enjoyable,” he said. “So, I'm definitely hoping to finish this year and put it behind me.”
